Suspossed rumoured list of PS5 prices

The days of Sony launching the new Playstation console in Japan before the rest of the world are long gone. It's just not a priority market for them anymore when you look at sales. That alone makes me think the whole thing is bullshit.

The day that I am unable to buy a physical disc, is when I stop buying. £65 for a digital day one release? Pass.

Why would you have such an bizarre stipulation, are you giving up gaming next gen and assume you don’t game on PC (or Switch for pedantry)  There is no way the next round of consoles will have a disc!

I think the last time I paid £65 for a game was N64 days, 95% digital on PS4.....

I've not really kept up, but isn't that a sort of standalone add-on, like that Infamous thing, rather than a full game? That was also relatively cheap, wasn't it?

Yeah, that could be it. Still seems like a chance they wouldn't miss though. One game at launch and nothing at the JP console launch?

Microsoft have been trying to impose their own DRM disc management and online account authorization for a few years now. This is always in the back of my mind.

Miles Morales isn't a full game.

But I agree with you, I think it'll be a £40-45 title. £29 is way too low.

Just the thought that the only game they can flog you out of the gate is under £30 makes me doubt the whole thing. I'd say you'd be more along the right lines at those prices.

Insomniac have said that Miles Morales will be about 7-10 hours long, which seems like a pretty sensible length for a game to me. They’ve likened it to Uncharted: Lost Legacy, which not only felt pretty substantial, but was pretty much all killer, no filler. Sounds like a full game to me.

Uncharted: Lost Legacy launched at $40 RRP

I’m not quibbling on the price, just saying that 7-10 hours is a pretty substantial game.

And my statement that it's not a full game wasn't any value judgement on the length or quality of the game, more that they've already spoken about it being like an extended add-on to the original (similar to Lost Legacy) and so I don't expect it to retail at the same price as a normal AAA title.

Although it's a launch day game so perhaps they'll go for it anyway.

a hundred dollars/pounds/euros difference between versions but only 5000 yen (like £36) in japan? sounds like bollocks.

There seems to be this persistent delusion online that a blu-ray drive costs £100, and that you could knock that amount off the price by removing one from a console.

which is more expensive? the mechanical drive, or the BDA licence?

The £100 price difference is more to drive sales of the digital option than reflect the actual cost of parts + license. And how much is the cheapest standalone player anyway? I bet it’s a lot more than £100.
