PlayStation 5 - Next gen is expensive

We've really pushed this time around. We've copied from *loads* of other folks, not just a couple {MASSIVE WINKEY SMILEY}.

Joking aside, they do really, really, REALLY want to talk about 3D audio - he can't mention it enough. They clearly think they've got something there.

I've always thought haptic feedback on triggers would be a cool feature, but considering the failure rate & battery life on 'normal' pads... there's got to be a reason it hasn't been done before now? Maybe it was just cost?

EDIT: Whoops, just realised I was conflating haptic feedback and force feedback. Haptic feedback makes much more sense on a pad.

Really odd that they thought we'd want a deep dive of the pad at this stage.

That was the first thing they showed us and then followed it up with the main event - hardware/games reveal.

Now back to talking about the pad - which is something we can't really appreciate without using it ourselves - and then a really dry buddy-up over zoom.

The Xbox One has had it since launch I think.

This was definitely more “ears on with Sony PR”. I think we got five minutes of edited highlights of maybe a half hour run through a game level.

The main things which I don't like about the DS4 are the symmetrical stick placement and the triggers don't feel as substantial as the Xbox ones. The DS5 doesn't seem to change either of those, but being a bit bigger might alleviate the feelings of it being a bit cramped to me.

That's good new for me. The PS4 controller is a tad too small for my hands I reckon and I don't even have big hands for a bloke.

I have to use a silicon skin just so I can hold on to it.

Oh christ they haven't moved the sticks closer together again have they?  I hated that about the ps3 controller. That and their inability to make functioning triggers on that controller.

Hopefully not but it looks like they are a bit closer. I just compared the PS3 to PS4 controller and the distance was only a few mm different but the concave PS3 stick tops made it feel worse.

Hopefully then it will be ok this time :D

I love the stick tension in the Xbox controller but hated the triggers.

I would be very happy if you could use a DualShock 4 with the Ps5 just incase the transition is a bit rough.i won’t be able to handle vibration in triggers if there’s any of that.
