* puts hand up * can someone simplify this sound thing for us idiots? Because it sounds like Sony are trying to make a proprietary surround sound software thingy. Is that right?

that is exactly what it sounds like, as opposed to using, i dunno...dolby atmos headphones? Which comes with xbox one X's, and you can get on PC right now, and....is really good!

But, considering they didn't support it on ps4, apart from with one set of stupidly expensive headphones i think it was, its not really surprising.

You can even try it for free, the app costs about £11, well worth it if you watch movies, or play games on the system and regularly use headphones!

Yeah, that's it. It's going to be baked in to the system and they're adding a bunch of audio hardware to make it easier for developers to actually use it. It's really overdue.

The platinums with 3D positional audio are great. .. For the 3 games that actually support it.

That would seem sensible - my problem is, if it was the case he went a really long way around NOT saying it. He had the perfect chance to just say "it'll play everything, and make some stuff better", but he didn't. He, pointedly, said "testing has to be done on a title-by-title basis.".

All I'm saying is, they've confirmed nothing - despite having a perfect opportunity to do so. It's likely it works as you think, but we absolutely, 100% do NOT know that at this point. It's not "clear" at all.

Surely the reason for that is because, as Cerny alluded to previously, when you run a game on technically different hardware, even with down-clocking etc. there can be cases where the game doesn't run properly. i.e. you cannot guarantee compatibility without testing.

Microsoft test everything too.

I always prefered the second, more varied entry. GamesTM's (RIP) first 10 if I'm not mistaken.

I'd love to see a new Dead Space or spiritual successor, but I doubt we'll see that today.

Perhaps he wrote the new Silent Hill or Housemarque's new game, which is apparently a launch title. Or perhaps he's just hyped. :)

Dead Space 2 had one of my favourite trophies (Clever Girl).

Would love a new / rebuilt Dead Space. Played the first two in the dark, with headphones on and had a ball with them. So surprised they haven’t had an HD polish... yet.

My PS5 wishlist

60fps

MP game graphics to match the ones in the SP version

No stupid battery draining light on the controller (think of the environment please Sony, or have a means to turn it off)

No middle generation PRO hardware revision

USB C for charging controllers

Ridge Racer of anything, developed and optimised by a Japan studio, but no open world bollocks.

If you can't think of a new Ridge Racer, then a complete one package HD remaster of everything Ridge Racer.

I'm fairly easy.

I'm sure the A1 game for PS5 will be the From Software/Tolkien crossover game. For normal / Pro users it'll be gimped at 27fps with framepacing issues (tm). On PS5 a uncapped frame rate, dropping to 32 when an explosion kicks in, but with framepacing of course (tm).

The light bar is drawing a tiny amount of power. If you could turn it off the difference in battery life would be barely noticable. The vast majority will be the communication with the console

I know they published something along those lines, but why has it got such a shit battery life? It's telling that they would not back down on this and just give the option to turn the bloody light off.

I think the 360 controller was also guilty, the low battery flashing 4 circles every minute surely drained what life it had left to give

I'd love for them to just come out and say the controller was misdirection and it's all VR from now on, suck it up or fuck off.

That would certainly save me a lot of money in the future. That would cut dead my gaming expenditure this gen, so would put me in the fuck off camp

The light bar is the controller’s only status light. But even if they did let you use the pad blind, LEDs use almost no juice anyway. People have manually severed the light bar connections and it doesn’t help the battery life much at all.

The problem is that the rechargeable battery has less than half the capacity of a pair of AA batteries.

I want to live in a world where we'll see Binary Domain 2.

Unfortunately I do not.

I'd settle for a Remaster. The gunplay and the way enemies react to impact is sooo satisfying.

I'm actually quite excited for this. Really want to see a price.

I have basically ignored PS4 this generation (only finished and enjoyed Spiderman then sold the console) so I will be getting a PS5 for definite on launch this time.
