I'll join in this week if that's ok?

Still think the game looks a bit shit in VR compared to Assetto Corsa, but I've got it running at an acceptable standard thanks to @Thor's settings.  Had a fun race online at Vandvoort earlier: really is a well behaved crowd online in this game, felt like being in a real race.

Of course.  I've added you to the PM conversation (which includes server password).

If you can let me know your Steam ID (https://steamidfinder.com/) and a preferred driver number (I listed the taken numbers in the thread before), I'll add you to the entry list.

Great to have you onboard! :)

Glad it's working better for you @SharkyOB. Yeah, it's never going to look as good as other racers, Project Cars 2 blows it out of the water completely for visuals in VR. But once you get into the actual driving and racing, ACC feels pretty damn good. :)

Next week's race will take place at Barcelona.  Was tied between that and the Nurburgring with two votes, so I just chose one mostly at random.  Brands Hatch and Silverstone also had a vote each, so unless there are any objections lets go with the following schedule:-

25/06/2020 - Barcelona

02/07/2020 - Nurburgring

09/07/2020 - Brands Hatch

16/07/2020 - Silverstone

If anyone really wants to do any of these and aren't able to make the week in question, let me know and I'll shift it around.

The server is back on, and set up with a repeating Barcelona practice session.

The lead up to the Nurburgring race will coincide with the https://esports.lamborghini/schedule/ so if anyone fancies driving the Lambo and having a crack at that as well.

Does everyone have the ICGT dlc (you really should :)), if so I’d vote for Kyalami next, it’s a nice wide flowing track and is great to race on?

Watching Dave Perel racing around Kyalami now, and it looks like a lot of fun!

Yeah, Kyalami is a great track. I've raced loads on the 60s version in AC and it's one of the few tracks in the world that hasn't really changed at all since then.

I probably watched F1 there in the late 70s/80s but I don’t have much recollection of the track from then. However, it’s now one of my firm favourites to race on alongside Brands, Monza, Spa and Suzuka, it has a great flow.

The ICGT is a great preorder bonus for the consoles as it’s basically essential. For those on PC, buy buy buy :blah::D.

Struggling around Barcelona.  It's a fun track to race around and I did a 20 minute AI race starting from the back (from 20) and managed to finish 8th (on 90% difficulty).

But for some reason despite getting low 1:51s against the AI I can't get close to that in practice!!  Go figure.  Need to practice a lot more for Thursday.

All the cars are good in this game, I really like the GT-R as it seems to suit my driving style.

Does anyone know what'll happen if I use a custom livery on the server on Thursday?  Will you all see that livery, or will it default to a standard one because you won't have it on your pc?

Pretty sure it uses the custom livery.  I used a custom one for the last race so I'll check the highlights!

I'm thinking of running a white Ferrari on Thursday! :)

Brill!  There's some great liveries available on Race Department if anyone fancies looking through them, some nice packs containing multiple cars too.

Custom liveries? :omg:

Yes, indeed!  Glorious PC master race gaming, where everything is better

Here's the main mod thread on RD:

And a nice pack with quite a few liveries:

While I agree, you should see some of the liveries I put together on the old Forza games back on the 360. :)

Ah, it's a 1:49.167 even! Top of the list (for now), that is confirmation for me that I've finally clicked with ACC after weeks of trying to get the game to run as good as possible on my machine.

You'll have to learn how to use a paint editor if you want to create liveries in this though (unless you can already use one of course).  The livery editor in the game is very basic (think pick from a few designs and select colours) so anything more advanced has to be done in an editor outside of the game.

Down into the 1:49s when racing against the AI.  I'm able to stick with them and overtake the back markers at 92% difficulty, but the moment I switch to a practice session (with same track conditions, car setup) I can't string any decent laps together and am 2 seconds slower.  The more time I have to think about it all, the worse I seem to be.

Just need to practice, practice, practice.  Although I'm still struggling the fundamentals, I think.  If I watch the top guys around the track they have a much more extreme wheel angle in the corners than me, so I'm clearly not rotating the car enough.  But I don't have the grip to be able to rotate the car like they do, despite taking the correct line into the corners and at a similar speed.  I need to get more skilled with the inputs I think.  Maybe I'm not as smooth with the pedals and wheel movements?

Your likely faster in races for a couple of reasons. It's easier to follow a car in front than have nothing at all, at least in my experience. And secondly you'll likely be getting a tow from the car in front on the straights. :)

Are you trail braking?  It's a tricky skill to master but that might explain why the guys you're watching have extra grip.  Staying on the brakes a bit as you turn into the corner puts more weight over the front wheels so you have more grip.

Yeah, I'm trying to and am conscious of it.  I'm probably just not doing it correctly.  I've got load cell pedals on order (Thrustmaster T-LCMs) so I'm hoping I improve when I get some better pedals.  I only have the cheap plastic 2 pedal set at the moment.
