Yeah, I had to break out the fan towards the end of qualifying so wasn't able to get a decent second run.  Didn't quite hook it up so couldn't match my practice best lap.

 

Was flying in the races though.  Two 1:43.6 fastest laps to bag those bonus points.  Shame I made a few mistakes that meant I couldn't convert pace to points, but it was brilliant fun.

I’m pretty gutted. I had good pace and was challenging for podium places other than my own daft mistakes. Had some good close racing but blotted my copybook in race 2. It felt like I barely touched the Alpine in front but it was enough to spin him round. I’ve not learned everyone’s names/discord names/forum names yet but my apologies to Mr Cook. I was so pissed off with myself I nearly quit. I hate the thought of messing up someone else’s race.

Highlights inbound!  I loved this evening's racing.   I'd had zero practice before tonight, so wasn't too sure how I'd fare - but I had some great scraps - especially with @Kristian Svenning in race 2.  Thanks for the clean and fair racing! 👍  I've had a really shit/busy couple of weeks with work, and this evenings racing was exactly what I needed to put my brain in a better place.

 

Race 1 - wow what a finish.  Congrats @SharkyOB and unlucky@OJM CHICKEN, that was so bloody close!!

 

 

Race 2: Go go gadget Gary! @SneakyNinja

Need to uninstall and reinstall the game, it's too flakey since I swapped my Ssd. Pisses me off no end with it's weird behaviour.

 

In the last practice session it was holding in to my ffb when leaving the pit then on Quali it lost it and again at race start. I tried to pop in and out of the settings menu as that's has fixed it but it puts me in the pits and then makes me wait 30s ffs.

 

Done a decent Quali with very little practice as well started to find my Grove. Aww well.

Does sound like it must be ssd related if you've only had issues since the reinstall.  Do you have another drive you can move the game to?

I’m quite irritated I couldn’t join in that race, feels like I would’ve been in the mix too and I also love the track. Looks like some fun times were had. As it goes, I think I’m more likely to miss (all?) 3 races now thanks to timing. Back to normal after that at least.

Man, the less said about last night, the better. Almost missed the race start because my son kept jumping out of bed (mrs wasn't home either). Eventually he went to sleep at 9pm Dutch, but I had to rush to the loft in order to log on in time. 🥵

 

First race was a shambles. I went off track in Druids and had the pack pass before I could rejoin. So being a tad frustrated, I cut Britten's chicane in order to catch up with the pack, but I was handed out a SG20. After serving it, I spun the car in Knickerbrook by pushing too hard and careered into the barrier, severely damaging the car. So I parked it in the pits and went to get a coffee.

 

Second race was better, although I had a slow start. Managed to keep up with the pack and gained 2 spots after Junker and Cook came together. I could just about keep up with the top 3 but whilst trying to push, I started making mistakes (car's very skiddy when you push it) so I dropped back. Another huge moment coming out of Knickerbrook (didn't hit the barriers this time though) and Cascades caused me to drop back again.

 

Not focussed. Roll on the next one. Suzuka's my fave and I won a few races there.

Well. That was intense. First time in a while I've ended the session a hot sweaty mess!

 

Great close racing with @SharkyOB, @Junker and @davejm. I hope my defence wasn't too 'robust'.

 

I distinctly remember a moment as I rounded Island Bend (fast left hander before the hairpin) and I could see both Matt and Dave in my left mirror. It was 50% cool and 50% terrifying! (thank you 4090 draw distance). I'll see if I can capture a shot of it from the replay.

 

Oulton park is another track that I've driven around in person (in a Mitsubishi Evo of some kind), but it was so long ago that the onboard video was given in the form of a VHS tape!

I did wonder what the Gandalf reference was! (I've not seen any of the 'rings films) - I'll take the nickname though :)

To be fair, we made contact twice, once in a chicane which probably wasn't the best place to pass and the second time was the final corner which whilst looking bad in the replay I actually got some oversteer and went into you.

Edit - apparently it was never an airfield. Patton trained his commando troops there.
