Assetto Corsa Competizione | Season 14 Round 6 | GT3 Endurance @ Watkins Glen

Ok, given it's 30fps on all consoles anyway, I've switched my preorder to ps4 for picking up the rear in rllmuk online play.

I'm a base console user, so it'll likely run better on base ps4 anyway, and if I end up with a series X, I think there is a chance we might see an improved (e.g. not capped at 30) version appearing.  If it's good, I can re-buy, or wait for ps5, or whatever based on which console I end up with.

It's race day!!  This time we're tackling the famous Monza circuit, and the infamous turn 1!

I'll extend qualifying by 5 minutes, and shorten (slightly) the time between the end of qualifying and the race start.  Qualifying will allow for 2 minutes of overtime for everyone to finish any flying laps, and a 3 minute timer will count down once the race session starts to allow for a comfort break, so realistically there is a 5 minute gap before the green light anyway.

Practice

  • Time: 19:30 until 20:15 (45 minutes)

Qualifying

  • Time: 20:15 until 20:30 (15 minutes)
  • Qualifying will start immediately after the practice session timer ends

Race

  • Time: 20:30 until 21:00 (30 minutes)
  • The race will start 3 minutes after qualifying ends (comfort break time!)
  • Dry weather, 2pm (in-game time) start

Important

After qualifying finishes you'll be placed on the grid and a 3 minute timer will count down.  Ensure that you click 'Drive' when able (within 30 seconds of the race start).  If the timer ticks down to zero and you haven't clicked 'Drive' the game thinks you are 'away' and will teleport you to the pits and you'll need to start from there

Race Formation

  • You'll be asked to line up in double file
  • Stay on the side indicated by the UI
    image.png.b33f94aaaa651d0aa3c146d6d302d138.png
  • Maintain position, and speed up/slow down as appropriate
    image.png.48b653b86bc8407a16c9067aa2be3923.png
  • As the start line approaches, you'll be asked to maintain a speed
    image.png.746dad557206abebccbdea93f1b9382c.png
  • When the lights turn green.  GO GO GO!

Pit Rules

  • 1 mandatory pit stop is required
  • A 10 minute pit window will open during the middle section of the race
  • A change of tyres AND refuelling is required
  • When waiting on the grid prior to the race session to start, go to the 'Setup' > 'Fuel and Strategy' menu and ensure that 'No. pitstop' is set to 1; and that 'Fuel to add' is set to a minimum of 1L.  Obviously add more fuel if you're running a lighter starting fuel load.  Ensure that the tyre set is a value other than the starting tyre set
  • If you meet the above conditions and when racing (but outside of the pit window), your MFD will indicate the following...
    image.png.83ed0f6de7dd40ecb571201373a12f46.png
  • All requirements will turn green when the pit window is open
  • You can change your pit strategy on the fly (from the MFD); so if you forget to set a fuel to add value you can do it during the race.  But do so before you pit, otherwise you'll need to pit again

Connecting to the Server

  • From the 'Multiplayer' menu, select 'Server List'
  • Do a search for 'rllmuk'.  The server name will always contain this string of characters moving forward
    server-01.jpg.967dc478f57ebdfff7e56ab82d81cd48.jpg
  • The password has been provided via PM.  If you're interested in joining, send me a message and a Steam friend request and I'll let you know the password
  • You can join in spectator mode if you don't want (or aren't able) to race.  PM me for the spectator password.

Downloading now. May not make it on for practice/quali, but should for the race. When I played this on the free weekend I was blasting around Monza in the lambo, so shouldn't be too off the pace. :)

Cool, I've added you to the PM conversation which includes the server password.  Do you see the messages from before I added you?

Apologies to @Meerman for dive bombing down the straight.  I was going to tuck in behind you but found myself slightly ahead (I think), but it's a stupid way to take that corner at Monza and then I clipped the sausage and it sent me bouncing!  Sorry about that.

@Thor Great to have you joining us.  Going forward I can plug your Steam ID into the entry list, so it will show your forum name whenever you're on the rllmum server, rather than the name as set in the game client. Do you have a preferred driver number?

Where shall we race next week guys?

Ah I've just watched the replay and it was @batistutauk rather than @Meerman... and it wasn't as bad as I thought really as we both had a good line into the corner and had left each other space, I just clipped the sausage curb which sent me sideways into you; but thankfully it didn't spin you too much.

Good turn out, shame I couldn’t make it. Look forward to seeing some highlights.

Does everyone have the ICGT dlc (you really should :)), if so I’d vote for Kyalami next, it’s a nice wide flowing track and is great to race on?

Pretty much hammered this game for the rest of the evening, mostly testing out different VR configurations. ASW forced on can go fuck itself, it's bloody awful! However, I managed to get the visuals to a point where they were much crisper, no more looking like the game is underwater! I even tried a 10 car race at the end of the night (before switching to Last of Us II) and that was fine. It was a race at Monza with the Lambo, managed consistent high 1.52s and low 1.53s. :)

Well that went pretty good last night. Got the game's performance sorted so it's running at a smooth 40fps now. Very pleased. Thanks @Dimahoo for the pointers!

Unfortunately I messed up my pitstop again. Came in too hot so I received a stop and go penalty, and I forgot to untick the repair boxes which cost me more time in the box than I preferred.

So once I get the hang of pitting i should be more competitive. The driving in ACC is absolutely next level. Nearly had my thumbs ripped off by the wheel after hitting the orange sausage kerbs in the first chicane. That's definitely some feedback that the original AC didn't have.

I think I'm going to spend more time on ACC from now on...

Wow - Meerman and Thor racing together again, me and Mexos doing the same* on Monday in Gran Turismo... it's kind of like the band getting back together again!

Looks like a fun race. I've never been a huge fan of Monza (despite it being the only track I won twice at during RLLMUK F1) - those chicanes are hard to hustle around, particularly if you have a GT3 that isn't too much of a fan of kerbs *cough* AUDI R8 *cough*.

* I say racing together in the loosest terms, as he was in the fight for the lead and I was in a fight with my own consistency.

Any tips for achieving this?  I want to be able to play this so much, but I've never been able to get it running acceptably/looking acceptable on my system :(

I've been absent for about 6 years...and after a lot of thinking I still can't figure out who @Thor is (or was rather, Thor's account is from 2018 so he must have re-registered)...except that his real name is M. Adams... Mark?

It's on the tip of my tongue...
