I played a little bit with your setup recommendations. I am curious, the numbers you quoted for dampers are a long way from the Aggressive preset ones, what is the thinking behind the change?

Yeah they are quite different. In the preset front is very damped, sits on bumpstops and doesnt pitch or roll much at all. For me that results in very understeery feel and sliding front tyres a lot. I find the car also does not like touching kerbs. Increasing bumpstop range and reducing damping improves all that. I found that to compensate for front changes rear also needs some changes to stop low speed entry oversteer.  Front wheelrate doesnt necessarily need to be softer though, my mistake there. Its not necessarily any faster than the preset, just different. For me car becomes more predictable and stable with more grip, but responds slower.

Can anyone stream tonight's race?

Last weekend I followed a enduro race where Tortellini was lapping 2:17s in Spa, in the Porsche. In traffic, with full fuel and 10 kg of ballast. He barely turns the wheel in most corners. His stint starting here:

Mad isn't it.  I watch a lot of Jardier's streams; this one included.  Was gutted when he binned it!

It works out around £50 more than it would have cost before Brexshit :(

Your import charges were the final straw for me.  I feel like I've overspent lately so I've cancelled my pre-order for the CSL DD and the BMW rim.  Unfortunately it means I'm stuck with the boost kit that I ordered separately, so I'll put that up on ebay this week.

I just really hope that when they announce it, Thrustmaster's DD base is good, comes in at a reasonable price and is compatible with my current rim.  If so, I think this'll work out better for me all round.

Sounds like a wise choice!

I guess might be good enough for some decent points if trouble happens to other people and not me.

I think I dropped a place in lap 1 to 7th or 8th while being careful to avoid contact, settled into something of a groove at a non-spectacular pace that had me stuck 2 seconds or so ahead and behind my closest rivals.  Then a succession of people seemed to have excursions and I found myself up to 4th and chasing @davejmand @EuroVapeSim2who were racing incredibly closely together. I don’t think I would have got near either but for the battling, and that saw me come up to the back of them for a bit while glancing nervously at the interval back to @winkyand then @SharkyOB. As luck would have it, my 62/35 fuel split worked out very nicely, I had to dive in earlier than most of you but got clear track after I came out and found myself in second place when the stops were all done. Was pretty scared @EuroVapeSim2 would catch up but managed to hold it together to the flag somehow.

I think in the whole race I only had one proper close-to-disaster moment, I got onto the grass coming out of T1 during my post-pit run and things got very wobbly but I hung onto it somehow. That’s pretty good going for me!

@milko we weren't actually battling.  I was around 1.5 seconds ahead for the most part.  He got a bit close at times, then I'd get in a good lap and increase the distance a little.   It didn't get close enough that I needed to take defensive lines.  So your race pace was equal to ours.  He overtook me when I hit the back of Meers and went off track; then I made a couple of mistakes and after the pitstop I wasn't very close to either of you unfortunately.

I messed up my pitstop too; just got the line wrong so they picked me up, then dropped me, then picked me up again.   Shame cause I only refueled 1 litre so the actual stop only took 3 seconds.

You were blistering fast.  I was throwing down much faster laptimes with race fuel than I ever did in practice, so it was quite annoying that you were both on my tail :D  He only really got up to my bumper at the end of the hairpins (and in the chicane a couple of times) so I think all 3 of us were just in the zone at this point.  Very consistent.  Well done on hanging on in there to take second!

Man, I want to forget about this one and move on to Zolder, please.

I was struggling with headset problems for almost an hour (hence it took me a while to connect). I thought my laptop failed to pick up my headset's dongle but after a lot of swearing I discovered that the source was set wrong in the game (it was set to the laptop's speakers). No idea there was a separate option in-game and how it had switched to laptop sound. Fuck me, this PC shite sometimes.

Anyway, due to all that I dropped in halfway in the quali session. Only got the opportunity to do a banker lap and that was it. Last on the grid, but was soon in 6th because of a couple of incidents in front of me. Managed to latch on for a lap or 2 before another incident happened in front of me. @SharkyOB had to avoid the mayhem and I pulled alongside of him. Unfortunately he wasn't aware of me being next to him (happened very quickly so no time for both of us to communicate) so he took the inside line through the corner, hit me and I went off. There was no way we could have avoided that as it happened so fast, so no worries mate.

So again at the back of the pack. Put my head down and started chasing. @Valver also had a bad day apparently so I managed to overtake him after he went off. But I struggled to find a flow and consistency (is there any on this track?) due to a lack of concentration so I made some one-sided mistakes here and there, losing another place to @Yannik who I managed to overtake earlier (he was not having a good one either it seems).

Eventually the leaders managed to lap me, one of which was @davejm. Prior to you hitting me, I had made a wobble over the grass in the long right-hander just before the last corner. I wasn't aware that you guys were closing in so fast, but the flashing blue flag on my SimHub phone app told me you guys were close, and then my proximity arrows started flashing. I looked back and there you were, coming in at full speed. I normally don't dive to the side when I get lapped (I keep on racing as normal, you just have to do your best to get alongside and then I'll let you past, no worries), but in this case I decided to aim for the outside of the last corner to let you past, but before I could, you'd already hit me. Partly my fault because I wasn't paying attention enough (which is rare, believe me).

Finished 9th, shouldn't complain all things considered. But still, bah and humbug.

But I absolutely love racing against you outstanding fellows. I just need more races like the Paul Ricard one. Zolder should be good.

No worries mate.  I assumed you were just taking that corner as normal (and that you'd let me past on the back straight) as you were on my racing line (that outside line is my normal way around that corner ya'see, as I take it wide then swing in) so I just tried to follow you around; but misjudged your speed unfortunately.  These things happen.  I really enjoyed the race and this incident didn't tarnish it for me.  Racing innit!

An ok-ish night for me where I was really struggling for pace due to a lack of practice time in the week.  It's hard to get too excited about taking the championship lead as it's obvs only due to @SANtoOos and @Erik missing so many races!

Honestly, I think this is pretty much all on me.  I need to watch the replay as my memory is a little hazy, but I think I'd just made a nice overtake on someone (@winkymaybe?) but then went off in the next corner due to overexcitement!  So I wasn't avoiding chaos, just dealing with my own ineptitude.  That meant a group of cars all passed me in that moment and I lost the awareness of who was around me.  Turned in, felt the bonk and saw a spinning Dutchman in my mirror 😕

After that I think I was in 6th on pretty much the same pace as the big group ahead.  I think it all went a bit wrong for @winky at some point so I inherited 5th, but I was making too many little mistakes to really mount a challenge to the cars ahead.  I then had a big spin towards the end while @Valver (who was a lap down) was right behind me, I just decided to take it easy after that as there wasn't really anything else to race for.

A shocker of a session for me too @Meers

I think I turned up in the wrong mindset - I was grumpy all day and my driving suffered as a result.  Not only was I some way off the pace, but I was erratic too.  Plenty of going wide and a few spins for good measure just summed up my race .

I fuelled long, so I ended up mid pack at about 3/4 race distance. With my pitstop still to take I was caught by @SneakyNinja - I knew he should be ahead on pace, so I lifted off the throttle on the start/finish straight to let him by and then tucked in behind  for the right hander.  And then he took a different line to the one I take (probably why I'm slower!) and I was super clumsy and clipped his rear and span us both round.  I'm very sorry Garry - totally my fault and the second week in a row where I've caused an accident.   😳

I'll try and regroup and do better for Zolder next week.

Yeah, certainly wasn't my night. First few laps were pretty good as there were people to battle with, but after piling up incident after incident because this track actively tries to throw me off every time I race there, I was convinced I would stay dead last when I came out there after my pit stop. Didn't turn out that way luckily, but I was glad it's over now. Hats off to @SANtoOos and @davejm for being so fast at the sharp end of the grid, well done, guys!

Bummed I'm gonna have to miss Zolder, I think it would've suited the Porsche very well.

It definitely is racing. I panicked slightly, so instinct took over there (INCOMIIIIING! Hit the dirt!).

As far as I remember (I have to check the replay as well) there were the 3 of you. 2 went off track (you may have been one of em or that you had to avoid them) and I sailed past anyway. Then I ended up next to you when we headed toward the next corner.

Dutchmen prefer flying over spinning though!

The sound issues frustrated me to no end, which I took into the race. I think I'll replace the wireless Turtle Beach (Stealth 600 for Xbox and PC) with a wired PC one. Getting a bit tired of the fragile dongle it usues (loses connection way too often).

What are you guys using, sound-wise?

Nice to race with you guys again! Missed all this. Still learning the Merc but we seemed to be a good match for Snetterton, really wanted to have done Paul Ric and Oulton Park.

I think I'll be able to come back for the Blue Riband race!

No worries mate - I think there was some confusion as I thought we were racing for position and that you'd contest turn one round the outside so I took a tighter, slower entry to give you room.

Speaking of which, I think I need to be a bit more aggressive in overtaking. I always err on the side of caution so as to not cause even the slightest contact, but I'm starting to lose out. I'm pretty sure I was faster than @SharkyOB during the first half of the race but couldn't get cleanly past and thinking back on it, I've been overtaken (many times :) ) by moves I wouldn't attempt for fear of contact.

The problem is, I've always been very consistent but not super fast, so I relied on other people making mistakes and then sailing past. But now, all you guys are SOOO much better and making far fewer mistakes so my technique doesn't work any more. Gits!
