can you set view options like this on the PS4 version? Thanks

I feel bad that no one has responded to you on this simple question - but I suspect the crowd here mostly dont know as we're all PC ACC racers...

No worries - I've asked over at GT Planet too. My plan is to pick up the PS4 version cheap now and then get the PS5 upgrade for free, but if there aren't at least options to change my seating position in the cockpit view *up/down/back/forward* then I'm not going anywhere near this!

How goes the Endurance @Erik and @Meers?

We were both in different teams, but for me it went amazing! What an experience racing that many cars and people. Despite being a bit nervous fucking things up, it went fantastic.

Had a consistent pace in my first stint and managed to win a couple of places (17th to 13th)...only to lose them again during my pitstop and driver swap at the end of my stint.

My CSL base switched to Xbox mode driving towards the box and I couldn't switch the engine off anymore. I wasn't aware at first so we lost about 20-30 seconds and back to place 20 because of that. Plus I hadn't put enough fuel in so Andrew had to do 1.5 stints. Thankfully he made up for it and was back in 13th when we swapped again.

But he messed up the tyre change so he sent me out on shot rubber and I had to come in again. Back in 20th when I got back on the track. This time I only gained 1 spot at the end of my 2nd stint. The driver swap went flawlessly and Andrew took over.

I had to go after that so decided to not do a 3rd stint, which wasn't a problem thankfully. The race had started 40 minutes later due to server issues so our schedule was messed up and we altered it on the fly.

Andrew had to go after his 3rd stint as well so Hugo and Sam too over for the night. Finished 16th in the end.

It's so awesome lads!

Should be possible on consoles as well. AC on Xbox allowed for it, so I take it they kept it for ACC as well.

We had a much more difficult race in silver. Qualified 12th and was running 12th building big gap behind, when a rejoining Honda didnt wait and I t-boned him.

Couple of hours and some contacts and drive throughs later we were back to 20th when driver's laptop overheated and shutdown. Over 5 laps lost. Following 5 hours were spent at the back slowly catching others. At 50 minutes to go we were only 45 s or so behind the next position, when the same thing happened again. Provisional(post-race penalties pending) P25 out of 29 I believe in class.

One of you guys had a computer failure mid-stint as well, right?

I've entered a Nissan only race on Wednesday night (Boonatix community).  Just 30 mins around Suzuka.

@SharkyOB and @extremepabs I bloody love the Nismo.  After about 5 laps of practice I managed to get a faster lap time than I've ever done in the Ferrari or McLaren.  Not sure how or why.  Perhaps another change for next season?

Yes its a nice car but i do have trouble sometimes with grip on some tracks i can get it set up nice but others i just cannot seem to get it right

Just did another half hour of practice on the server, I watched a Dave academy video of the Ferrari EVO before jumping on. It really helped me figure out the long radius corners and just how long you really have to wait before any throttle input. My last lap I did I got my time down to a 1:56:433 with 60L of fuel, almost 3 seconds of my best time on Saturday.

@davejm is there a way we can look back at the lap times like the emporer server? I really like seeing my average pace and comparing against others.

Not at the moment, but it's something I do want to set up eventually.  I have to set up the home server as a public facing web server, but I need some kind of dynamic DNS host or something.  I read up on it briefly but need to check it out a bit more.

Ah OK, doesn't sound as straight forward as I imagined it would be. The practice server is still very much appreciated 👍

Yeah, the server is in my living room so there are a couple of things I need to do:-

  1. Check out how I can host websites when I have a dynamic IP addresses.  With the ACC and AC servers they register to a Kunos lobby system so the IP address can change and it doesn't matter, but with my ISP (Sky) there is always a chance that the IP address would change which means hosting websites is more tricky.  There are services online that I can sign up to that can monitor for changes in IP and then update the DNS record accordingly; just need to figure it all out.
  2. Security.  Exposing my home network to HTTP traffic feels a little scary.  So I need to see what I can do to protect myself.

I’m still learning the track, I’ve only just stopped getting lost :)

I know the Paul Ricard track is being mocked for all the blue lines / pacman layout / whatever, but is it really that bad? From a driver's perspective it's clearly laid out, and cones block the other routes. Took me 3-4 laps to get the layout into my head last time we raced there (which was my first time racing on Paul Ricard ever) and I've grown to really like the track after that. 😅

I'm obviously exaggerating, it's just so bloody flat and featureless (and the cones don't always last long once a few drivers get on there) that it takes a while for me to get my cues. For having a variety of corners to deal with it's pretty good I think, and it's always nice to get the kettle on for some tea during that long straight. I just wish it had some sort of meaningful elevation changes, maybe a little bit of scenery. I guess as a Dutchman you feel right at home on the flatness!

The scenery around the track is boring and I dont like the bright blue areas... The layout itself however seems to produce pretty good racing. Its wide, theres the stupid long straight, long corners with multiple good lines and a hairpin. Bonus points for one of the most dangerous pit exits anywhere 😁

Well seing as flatness is my home (see pic below), then yes Paul Ricard right up my street (pun intended). 😝

I'm not looking at surroundings anyway during racing when I'm busy keeping up with you guys. Plus I have cut back on draw distance and graphical detail anyways so I barely have any trackside features to begin with, hahaha!

I agree with you on the long straight though. Needs more chicanes.

Don't suppose you've got a link to that video handy? I'm 2 seconds off my own pace from the last time we raced here :(

This is the video I watched, I normally watch it a couple of times in regular speed and the in half speed to watch the pedal inputs and replay certain corners I struggle with. I also take similar TC, ABS & BB settings from the video, brake balance seems to be very far forward by default in the ferrari for the tracks I've raced it on.

Blimey.

My first takeaway from watching that is that he's 10kph quick at max speed down the straight than I am. Secondly, he's braking way later than I can (something I've never been able to fathom out) and lastly, how on earth is he sliding about like that that and still maintaining speed? As soon as I get even a hint of slide, I don't leave black lines on the road behind me, more like long lines of time pouring away...

Still, every day a school day :) Thanks for posting.

Correcting slides like that is very tiring in the long run. Not sure if you'd want that during a race. Looks like his TCS and aero is way down to get the best acceleration and top speed out of it. He's also very good with controlling the sliding with the throttle and counter-steering.

Certainly their McLaren equivalent is a lot more stable. A couple of squirrely moments on exit from tight corners aside.

I still remain tempted to check these setups out when I see them looking stable and fast, but feel like paying for them is both a bit of a gamble (some free ones I've tested have been undriveably horrible for me) and perhaps not quite in the spirit of our league. That Zermatt guy with the great track guides has a whole set for McLaren available too. Have any of you dabbled?

The default aggressive at PR for McLaren has really soft ARBs and a few other settings that looked unusual to me. Beyond observing these facts I'm once again fumbling with semi-random small adjustments to see if I can detect changes in handling while also recognising that I'm still learning my racing lines and therefore can't put too much focus on setup anyway.

Personally I dont think buying setups is worth it in ACC. Especially not some of these expensive ones. Presets are mostly very good and if they are skittish they can be made more stable with just couple of clicks(mainly lower rear ride height or higher wing angle). Keep in mind that these very fast youtube videos are not just about the setup(obviously), but also results of dozens of hours of practice by people who are very fast in any car, often in optimum conditions and sometimes old from a time when laptimes were quicker in ACC. They might also use some tricks like BritGT BoP which is much faster than GT Challenge 2020, but only works in single player.

One still needs to drive enough to write track and car behaviour in muscle memory, and they will not help one understand why the car behaves or doesnt behave the way it does or doesnt. They also might drive very differently compared to what one has liked before. If I feel I cant improve my laptimes I will always first take a look at someone else drive the same car and track to see what they do differently, and then if that doesnt help I will get 1 or 2 setups from say racedepartment, Jardier, Aris or Tortellini and see how they differ to mine to get ideas. It can be a lot of work, but when it works out it is also very rewarding. 🙂

iRacing I think is a different case as there each car has only one preset, and its with just couple of exceptions a really bad setup, and some iRacing setups are sold for only couple of euro.

Cheers @Erik that pretty much reinforces what I've been thinking so far then. Also reminds me I need to go check what I had at Hungaroring where I felt the car was super-stable and see how that differs, might be it'll give me some clues.

Oh that talk of BoP reminds me, the Paul Ricard 'real life' record time that ACC displays is something nuts like 1.33? Did they run a shorter track or something, that seems ludicrously faster than what's possible in-game where normally the aliens are able to beat the real-life scores that I've noticed.
