Okay guys I think we need a driver for the Spa 24 hours next weekend. Car is the boat and you'd share it with me, @EuroVapeSim2 and a Briton named Sam. Your share would be absolute minimum 3 hours. It will likely rain a lot but I'll try to be available through race so I can drive more when its wet.

I bought this a while back on PS5 but only had a couple of goes on the pad waiting for the wheel, today was the first go on the wheel…

 

It doesn’t hold your hand does it?!? I assumed it would see the wheel and set some defaults but it seemed to just set it to 90 degrees and everything else on max - was very odd playing it as you can imagine. Some settings fiddling later and I was away and my word its a jump from GT7 in terms of physicality - the FF is in another league as is the sound, gfx not so much. I only managed about 20 laps of Monza and most of them were error laden but had lots of fun.

 

I haven’t really looked around but are there any good videos / guides to the basic setting up of a wheel etc for this?

I was thinking we could have a Spa GT3 race this Thursday?  The enduro boys will be practicing for their 24 hour race anyway, so it sorta makes sense.   I'd be keen to try the other GT3 cars again.

sounds good to me! I have absolutely no particular tracks/cars/formats I'm inspired to get into but do still plan to go Lambo to give that car some overdue representation on the grid. My small testing has not suggested it'll make me go as fast as I did in the McLaren but whatever.

 

We could do with getting the grid back up to size a bit somehow, not as many people in the Challengers season for one reason or another. I guess more people have lives again nowadays.

How about this so far?    I quite fancy starting with Monza, and I really want to do Zolder again soon so I've put that in for the second race.

 

@Meers I reckon Suzuka would be a good season ender!

In other news, I've just impulsively bought a HP Reverb G2.  I've been feeling less enthusiastic about sim racing of late, and have been struggling with the headstraps and comfort/sweatyness of the Quest 2.   I don't think it's going to be a massive upgrade - especially considering the native Oculus driver seems to perform loads better than Steam/Open VR - so I feel like I might struggle to get decent framerates compared to the Q2.  But the clarity of a direct DisplayPort connection and the lighter/more comfortable headset is appealing.  Plus, the speakers are supposed to be amazing.

I will be interested to hear how you get on with that! I still keep getting tempted to upgrade the Q1 but I need to do the CPU (and so, motherboard and RAM) first and hopefully by then there will be more of a jump to make it worthwhile. I think @SharkyOB rocks the Reverb G2 already, right?

Yeah man, Monza and Zolder are always good. Not sure about you guys, but ACC is really good these days in rainy track conditions. Anyone fancy a full wet race?
