Hi I have created a little dirty google chrome extension that adds peoples real name in the forum page. This is how It looks...

image.png.703b986ff25e23d06e59dd612f3cf7c1.png

It is a bit of a quick job, not sure if Im proud of it.

The data (names) is hardwired into the extension which is a no-no. I though of fetching from google sheet but I really had to spent way much time figuring that out and im too busy learning other web dev stuff (and learning Spa :P)

Also it seems to require to reload the page to show the real names, I am not sure why but well... thats the way it is for now :P

To install

  1. just donwload the file from https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CiXV62W3PrwTbh8qkXKnoGxKZ0NKGd88/view?usp=sharing
  2.  unzip it in Documents or something like that.
  3.   put chrome://extensions/  on the address bar to go straight to extensions
  4. switch developer mode on(on the top right)
  5. click on "Load Unpacked"
  6. select the previously unzipped folder

Thanks mate, works really well! :)

Who's on tonight then folks?

lol that was quite a close encounter! Can't believe it had the cheek to dock us both a safety point for that! Hope you weren't on a fast one, I was on what felt like my fifth or sixth revolution of the spin and did not have much idea where anything was but it was highly amusing to watch you drive straight into me from what felt like quite some distance away at about 140mph. Unfortunately my replay was clipped so I didn't get chance to save it for posterity.

Yeah, a track that never suited my car already and in the wet, I am finding a challenge to come back to a little rusty. Just starting to get somewhere near feeling like I know what's going on but my expectations are set pretty low for Thursday. I can see where I could easily make up at least 0.5-1 second but equally whenever I push the pace there is what feels like an 80% chance I'll be losing control and hitting a wall hard.

I tried to get on last night but future mrs Meers wanted to practice our opening dance for our wedding (no anniversary yet). There was Spa involved though, and wet conditions (sweating carrots due to the humidity over here), so it felt like I was on the track after all. 😆

I saved the replay.  I was on an outlap as I recall, and just before the final spin I thought I'd avoid you but alas it turned into the fastest collision I think I've had in ACC to date 😄

I like Spa a lot, but looks like I need to spend some time improving my driving and the setup.

Yeah but don't spend toooo much time on it @Erik

Tbh I'm pretty happy with that time, hadn't driven since our last race and was seconds off pace for the first hour of practice and getting a bit worried. Didn't help I tried some blind setup changes for my first few runs, then reverted to basic wet setup and it all clicked. Still need more laps in to improve consistency, there's a few corners I take differently every lap but not sure I'll have the time :(

I have no idea whats a good time in these conditions. I could only improve couple of tenths going from high fuel to low fuel, but in the dry that difference is like 2 seconds, 2:19 to 2:17. Something suspicious going on with my car and wet preset seems to be the same as safe preset, just with more TC, so that wont be saving me. :D

Managed to improve a bit last night.  Got my average lap time up by 6 tenths and got my tyre temps dialed in.  Eau Rouge continues to be a problem, so I wanna try and get some more practice in ahead of the race to find a more consistent line and inputs through that section.

A reminder to un-register from the race if you can't make it:-

Incredible performance, lads. I'll give it another try tonight so hopefully I can get within 2 seconds of the top time. I think I can run less wing and a slightly stiffer rear anti-roll bar to tune out the understeer under braking. I will welcome any form of tuning advice. 😅

Lower front arb, lower front and/or higher rear, softer bumpstops and/or higher bumpstop range or lower brake bias. ;)

I still don't understand anything about tuning/setup.  The fact that you can understand that the car has understeer under braking; and then know how to change it, is something I'm a million miles away from.  I realise there are guides online that say "if your car is doing this, change this" but I can't even perceive what the car is doing enough to get to that stage.

If the car feels under-steery my immediate thought is that there's something I need to adjust in my driving (better trail braking, better inputs to deal with rotation better) rather than setup.  I might have some practice sessions where I deliberately focus on how the car is behaving and handling in different types of corners.  I dunno.

The extent of my setup changes are the electronics, tyre pressures and brake ducts.

Might be on for a short while if I get home early tonight.

It's coming home and all that. Talking of which, congrats to @SANtoOos for whom it could also be coming home in the Copa America. Assuming Messi has his usual average (international) game for the opposition.

Yeah either increasing rear ARB (at the risk of making it more nervous / oversteery) or lowering the front ARB was my thought too. As you say, lowering the front may be safer. I'll fiddle with the ride height first, it's now level (60mm for both).

Well speaking for myself, I have had a fairly long run with racing sims (if a racing game allows for tuning the car's setup, it's a sim in my book). I've been playing the GT and Forza Motorsport games since GT2 and FM2 and they taught me a lot about the basics. With AC and ACC however, it's gone from college-level settings to uni-level settings (for lack of a better comparison). Plus I'm in engineering (static and dynamic forces) so it all relates to me.

What I don't understand is how you can be so frikkin' fast without tuning!

@SharkyOB and @Erik seem to know a lot more about setups than I do, even. So I will always take their insights at heart to learn even more about it.

Maybe we can make a simplified tuning tutorial?

For me, I think I'm like Dave in that I really struggle to know what the car is doing first, before going to apply setup knowledge. I'm slowly getting better at it but "oh, understeering a bit under braking" type comments are still probably beyond me as I'd tend to think instead "oh, braked a bit too late there" or whatever.

Its partly because setups often dont matter much, and partly because Aris' presets are very, very fast and only need to be tuned to conditions. Quickest one lap driver in ACC is probably Tortellini, and even he says he doesnt have a clue about setups and sometimes randomly clicking things up or down makes him faster, or slower. :D

Some cars like Bentley dont have track specific presets and need more work... but I still find that the more I work on it the more I like aggressive preset. Might as well use it, just adjust couple of things to personal likings.

His presets are really good indeed, but as I prefer a slightly different 'feel' I tend to fiddle a fair bit with his aggressive preset. It may come from needing to tune a lot of cars in the GT and FM games back in the day, because most of them didn't handle particularly well in their stock state.

Or maybe I should try the safe preset to accomodate my alleged smooth driving style. Admittedly, I've never chosen the safe ones so I think I'll give them a try tonight.

And I didn't mean that @davejm should not be fast with the Aris presets, I think it's incredible that he is as fast as he is with those presets. I wish I was! Maybe I fiddle too much...

Hours in the sim, that's probably the main reason.  I'm willing to bet my Steam 'hours played' stats are higher than most here.  They were last time I checked.

Aye, that's probably it for me - less time to practice than most of you guys. I think it's 2-3 hours per week and the Thursday session is about all the time I spend on ACC. Unfortunately I've got too much going on right now to put in more hours.

I will take a small hiatus from ACC after this series until September. We're going on holiday come 23rd and after that it's the final prep for our wedding on the 27th of August. 🙂

I get about an hour a week to practice, tops!

Can anyone give me some starting wet weather tyre pressures to save me from too much faffing around this evening please?

ducts 2, about 27.5 PSI all around gives me 30 PSI after couple of laps

I use the aggressive setup, and then add 1 psi for each tyre.
