@SharkyOB, @davejm, @SANtoOos and anyone else interested - has anyone had any more thoughts about meeting up at a round of British GT?

As a reminder:

11/07 Donington Park

12/09 Oulton Park

17/10 Donington Park

Yeah definitely.  I don't think the July date is doable, but I'm eying up the Oulton Park race.

Hi I have created a little dirty google chrome extension that adds peoples real name in the forum page. This is how It looks...

image.png.703b986ff25e23d06e59dd612f3cf7c1.png

It is a bit of a quick job, not sure if Im proud of it.

The data (names) is hardwired into the extension which is a no-no. I though of fetching from google sheet but I really had to spent way much time figuring that out and im too busy learning other web dev stuff (and learning Spa :P)

Also it seems to require to reload the page to show the real names, I am not sure why but well... thats the way it is for now :P

To install

  1. just donwload the file from https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CiXV62W3PrwTbh8qkXKnoGxKZ0NKGd88/view?usp=sharing
  2.  unzip it in Documents or something like that.
  3.   put chrome://extensions/  on the address bar to go straight to extensions
  4. switch developer mode on(on the top right)
  5. click on "Load Unpacked"
  6. select the previously unzipped folder

I'll give that a try tomorrow, Jose.

Meanwhile in Dutchland...

A very sloppy lap, but it's the fastest I've done tonight despite sliding all over the place. For reference I suppose. 🤷‍♂️

Tell you one thing, the green astroturf/paint/whateveritis - do not touch it in the wet whilst on the throttle. It wants to kill you.

I did a tidier lap before this one, but weirdly it wasn't faster. I also tried one tick more TC (8) but that killed the acceleration too much, so I went back to 7 for the Ferrari. Makes it a bit more feisty but with smooth throttle control it's doable. I still need to find a way to tune out the understeer under acceleration. I reckon I can still find another second somewhere, but that will probably still be about 1.5-2 seconds slower than the fast guys.

I love wet racing conditions though!

Awesome stuff mate.  Your smooth driving style shows here.  Can't wait to get in some laps later, after a weekend away with no sim racing 😄

Cheers mate, I wasn't aware that I have a smooth driving style so I'll take your word for it. :)

Could be smoother even, but it's really tricky in the wet.

Although my laptop woes are ongoing I’m going to at least try to put some practice in either tonight or tomorrow.  Can someone remind me how I do that now? I’ve not used the new system yet.

The practice server is the same as ever and available 24/7.  It's just the races that are hosted on simracing.gp :)  But even then, the only thing you have to do that's different is to un-register from any races on simracing.gp that you can't make (so it doesn't show on your record as a no-show, and in the results as a DNF etc).  So pretty much business as usual for connecting to the server and actually racing 👍

Your style has generally looked smooth in replays you've posted :)

Hmmm, maybe because of really trying to avoid unsettling the car to much. It's a massive workout when you tend to be more aggressive and catching slides, and whilst I like to work out, I'd rather not do it too much in a steaming-hot loft. Not to mention that sliding slows you down drastically (unless you get the right slip angle, which is not easy). Surely I'm not the only one trying to be as smooth as possible?

I need some reference material! PST RPLYS PLX!

The laps you posted are a lot smoother than hotlaps on youtube; and when you watch a few of the streamers some of them are definitely more on the edge of grip and fighting the car a lot more.  I'm pretty sure we discussed this in chat during one of the GT4 races too, because the lap you posted then seemed very smooth.  I think I'm probably pushing on the edge a bit more, which is why I'm sometimes a little quicker for raw pace?  It's only recently that I've started to find some consistency and feel smoother myself.

aww, bugger, just realised I'm going to have to miss the season climax race (22nd July) due to work. My own choice of track/conditions and it's another miss on Monza! I'm alright this week and next though I think, be nice to get back to it after a couple of weeks of no racing at all.

I can see you take a lot more speed through eau rougue/raidillon and stavelot, I'm going to have to do some more practice tonight to see if I can get my time down under yours, I definitely feel like there's still a lot out there.

I can juuust make it, but I will be away the days before. Fortunately we can set the qualifying times on the practice server the previous weekend already so I might be able to get away with little to no practice :D

Very kind offer but I'm away for a long weekend from Thursday onward that week too!  There's going to be a couple more weeks at the tail end of August where I'm out as well, I think I'll have to just accept a fragmented participation for a little while.

I managed a 2:27.6 but theres lots of time on the track still, couple of tenths in Raidillon alone. Your driving looks so stable that you might benefit a lot from lower TC and pushing a bit more, just dont touch kerbs under brakes. :D

That sounds like they're taking more risks in order to be faster, which is indeed not my forte hence me choosing the safer option - ASAP (as smooth as possible). That may be slower (evidently) but it gives me a higher chance of finishing the race by being consistent. Pros and Cons I suppose. 😅

@Meers its not a bad lap. Did you try toying with TC2 settings yet? I often see people who drive Ferrari and Aston use settings like 1/6, 2/6 or 6/2.

Not yet. TC1 and TC2 are both set at 7 in that lap which gives it just the right amount of 'kick'. I'll have a look at it later this week.
