No consolation but it was a shit show of a race for me as well, and I'm joining the @davejm and @milko club of not really enjoying this at the moment.

I should be clear (since it's a little doom 'n gloom here this morning) that I still enjoy myself in the races! Even the bad ones present a different kind of problem. Granted it's even more fun when everything is going well.

You have a pretty lofty league position considering you can't improve your pace :)

Just like I've said before, I'd be tempted to trade my raw speed for some of your consistency.

Sorry @Meers.

I've no idea what happened there, other than the fact I became a Meers-seeking missile as I rounded the first corner. Even worse was that the lack off comms meant I couldn't apologise as it happened.

I think I hit Meers because the rear went unexpectedly in T1 and from the replay I can see I was on the brakes as soon as it happened but there was no saving it.

In short, shit race, really sorry Meers and let's hope for good one for us all next time.

No worries mate, it was immediately clear to me that such a freak incident was not done on purpose. Not angry at all, just surprised really that it happened. What are the odds indeed.

You did the same as I did as far as I could tell from my replay - cutting the kerb a bit too much (there's a bit of loose sand on the inside, and a dip) whilst still on the throttle and steering too much at the same time. It's a bitch of a kerb, and I avoided going over it again after that. Too much risk for the reward.

We'll have a good one next time, mate!

since you're a Macca driver as well, do you experience some awkward behaviour as well sometimes? The 720S seems a real stable car, but sometimes and without any big reason the rear end steps out (mainly under trail braking) whilst it didn't do that before (same line, same corner etc).

Trail braking down into turn 3 made the rear step out (it never does that there, the Macca is planted as fuck)

I think it's setup and Oulton Park. I actually found T3 a little bit prone to the rear stepping out all evening even in pre-race practice and quali, compared to the past week or so's practice. After I did my repairs this effect was very much magnified still.

Compared to my old Honda the rear stepping out on the McLaren is *way* less likely to happen so I don't know if I'm the best judge. But every time I analyse it it turns out that actually I was steering too hard with the accelerator down too early, or the car was unbalanced from a kerb (like your pre-Sneaky moment) or something like that. I can usually catch it pretty well, but last night I did it too often.

What kind of ride heights did you use? I found if I went wide there it just understeered more, never oversteered. Though Macca is a Macca, I dont really like it as our enduro car atm... Super understeery, until it suddenly isnt. 😄

Just something I've been pondering... but I think a change to a GT4 league might be fun for next season?

Fine with me, but then again it all is really. Or... Porsche Cup season! That'll sort us out.

Yeah same here, even though being at the back of the grid I was still enjoying myself. Have to admit that after the crash I had a tiny 'what's the point continuing' moment, but then reminded myself that anything can happen still and that you only should quit if the car's beyond repair. So I carried on, head down.

I was attacking kerbs all over the track and the Macca just breezed over them. I think I was a bit too aggressive over that one (yay slip angle! OOPS).

GT4 is always fun mate. I certainly wouldn't mind them as my old arse seems more suited for them. Porsche cup would be nice too like Milko is suggesting.

Default aggressive ride heights, don't remember. As I said above, it normally breezes over most kerbs. And my setup doesn't feel understeery at all. I use 7.5 for caster though, which makes it a bit more responsive turning in.

Oh, question abou the enduro tomorrow...I take it that player 1 sorts out the tuning and that everyone else has to use that? Are the pit strategies also set in advance?

I tried not to move when you approached (I'm always aware of my surroundings), but when I saw you coming I did a little shit. And I realised later that I was responsible for you not finishing first because of me holding you up like that.

No worries, that's not on you, man! I could've just not slide into the hairpin and open the door for Erik as well, it's not like Oulton is an easy track to overtake at - shit happens 🤷‍♂️

I've really enjoyed those one make races we've done.  A Porsche Cup or a Super Trofeo Lambo season would get a thumbs up from me.

You can ask anything over in discord. 😉 Yes the starting driver will load the setup during the countdown before formation lap. I presume he will set strategy in advance - its good to have at least fuel set for all stops to have less things to adjust while driving. Try to drive some tonight on the practice servers. They are named "RCI motorsport" and password is RCIACC. Dont be intimidated if you see some very fast people; practice servers are shared by everyone but fastest teams, who tend practice the most, will be 2 splits higher than you.

Jag season! I guess the Lambo would be slightly less stressful in terms of avoiding doing donuts multiple times per race.

Thanks Erik, just wanted to check with you. I'll check the rest over Discord with the guys. I'll try to practice tonight, but it won't be for long I'm afraid. I'm already intimidated by some of you guys on here so I'm quite used to it hahaha!

Just trying to take as little risk as possible tomorrow, and trying to enjoy it. Suffice it to say, I'm really excited to be part of such a thing.

For those wondering what we're on about - I'm partaking in a 12-hour endurance race tomorrow, but I'm still a bit like:

Loved last night guys, really good racing with you all and was a pretty clean night for me all-in-all.  Had a bump with @Erik at the end of the turn 1 incident and also tapped @milko just before making a pass on him but otherwise it was all good.  I did particularly enjoy the move on @Meers, although I was worried at the time it was a little aggressive!

Everyone seems to be putting the blame at @milko's door for the T1 incident, but it still looks the same as it did at the time to me.  @milko is already partially up the inside into the turn and then @Erik sweeps across the track which is where the contact happens.  I don't see @milko understeer wide at all and personally in @Erik's position I'd have just taken the outside line, but maybe that's why I don't win anything anymore 🤣  Honestly not having a go, just interesting to discuss this stuff.

One thing I got from last night, I'm so made up with my wheel again.  I really think I'm going to cancel my pre-order for the Fanatec CSL-DD and see what Thrustmaster announce in terms of their DD offering.  If the touted base is compatible with my rim I'm laughing.  Only problem with this is that I ended up ordering the boost kit separately and it's already arrived!!  Does anyone need a boost kit? 😝

I ran a little bit wide in that hairpin, and all my sensors showed that you were right next to me so no, not aggressive at all. It was close though, I think we touched wing mirrors!

If it boosts my regular CSL Elite base, then I'll take it off you. If it doesn't, nm. 😜

I tried to leave space, there was space for almost 2 cars on the inside and no overlap as I start to turn in. But I think Oulton just is like that: if one is even slightly off the grippy racing line then low grip surface and zillion bumps just push you wide. It can catch anyone off guard, chances are had I started 3rd and on the inside I'd have made the exact same move 🙃

Well, it didn’t slow me much, and you ended up winning the race, so I guess it’s not worth worrying about. Getting a tight line around the first corner can be tricky when tyres are cold and fuel high etc. even without this particular track helping, I really thought I’d got in much tighter.

Yeah and to be honest I was wasnt even angry, I had had a pretty bad day by that point, half expected T1 to be a mess and laughed a bit when I rejoined the track, thinking lets see how high I can finish. 😄 I was more angry about myself for again not holding brakes which resulted in Valver or Sharky hitting me when I was already on the grass.

ps. In the start I also somehow managed to hit my water bottle off the desk and to the floor, so I drove the race with wet socks 😄

Just did my first 30 minute practice around Paul Ricard, I've not driven here yet, so many awkward and late apexes.

I kept one lap inside track limits, a 1:59:1, no idea how far off the pace this time is. I can see this being a spin fest in the ferrari, let's hope practice during the week goes better.

I've entered a Nissan only race on Wednesday night (Boonatix community).  Just 30 mins around Suzuka.

@SharkyOB and @extremepabs I bloody love the Nismo.  After about 5 laps of practice I managed to get a faster lap time than I've ever done in the Ferrari or McLaren.  Not sure how or why.  Perhaps another change for next season?
