Erik, please jot me down for all of those, provided that I can have dibs on the time of day I'd like to jump in (preferably early in the afternoon). Still have a few questions though:

I understand there's 4 people for the 6 hour races (1.5h each)? How many of us are doing the 12h races?
How does the drive swap thing work?

First race was 6 h, but there we had 3 drivers for both cars. So two 60 min stints for each. Often driving time isnt even, but not everyone wants to drive as much as possible or is available from start to finish in these big races. We try to make driving schedules and a strategy before race.

Ah, good to know there's a schedule indeed. And 1h stints sounds good, even though I can manage 1.5h during daytime fine. 😎

I'll have a look at those links you've sent me.

@kiroquai having just come out of using the NSX (Evo) I would not necessarily describe it as composed! Neither it nor the Ferrari are normally described like that, more usually people refer to the Aston Martin or the Merc I think, and I guess the Bentley, have you tried those? Generally cars with the engine out front seem to be the ones, that and plush suspension for the kerbs. With that said, I was comparatively bloody quick around Oulton Park in the Honda, now I've switched to the McLaren it feels a lot more stable but I haven't matched my pace on this track yet. I do put it into the wall a good bit less frequently.

The Honda's one of the prettier cars on the grid and makes some of the best noises, so I liked it a lot for that. Everything else to me is a learning process :)

For me easiest cars to drive, as in to keep on track and under control, in no particular order are Aston V8, Merc, Lamborghini EVO, McLaren and 2018 Bentley. BMW has the longest wheelbase but I cant understand why it likes to go around and isnt stable. Honda loves to snap oversteer and spin if upset at high speeds. 😅

I'm probably showing up the fact that I basically spent all of my time on F1 games since about 2010 😂 - for some reason, I just can't get my head around the Aston, Mercs and Bentleys being fast (which they very clearly are). I'm very much from the school of thinking anything with an engine in the front is old-school!

But I am going to give the Aston a try later :). I suppose it probably says a lot to the Ferrari's nervousness on Oulton's bumps that I found what is likely an equally nervous car a leap and bound better.

Did you try GT4 cars yet? They have almost no aerodynamic devices and sit quite high. Like street cars almost they cant carry speed and change line through a corner. You committ to a line very early and constantly slide around a bit as you try to find grip. Very different, and many think they are great fun.

They're separate on the newer rims, as the newer ones will support QR2 (second generation quick release) when that comes out.  So when that is released I imagine you'd just choose which one you want.

I got the QR1 for my Formula v2.5 separately too.

Yeah I've got the simplified QR1 Lite quick release, with the twist-release mechanic. I think you've got the one with the pull-release mechanic?

This one came free with the McLaren rim. Since I'm using the CSL base, there's no need for the high-torque ones (QR1 or QR2).

Ah yeah, mine came free with the metal pull-release one.

Would have loved one of those, just for the authenticity...but it's €100 which is a bit steep imo. Maybe I can score a 2nd hand one someday.

It's that 50kg ballast at work :)

@kiroquai has a bloody impressive time there for a gamepad driver.

Anyway, I'm now determined to get my Macca time to match my old Honda time so I can top the table. Just need to actually find some time to play the game...

Ah cheers man, nice of you to say :hat:. It’s reasonably okay to go quickly on a pad, but there’s definitely time to be found with the smoother and more precise inputs my wheel will allow.

Definitely struggle to be consistent with the pad! Plus it’s murder on your hands. As such I’ll still be practicing rather than racing for the next month, but am really looking forward to actually being on the grid with you guys at some point soon!

I'm just slow. 😉 I improved a bit. A good optimum condition laptime around here is probably high 1:32 to low 1:33 right?

Tortellinii did it in 1.31.8 in the Porsche, somehow. That must be somewhere around the top end of what's possible, right? But yeah, I don't think any of us mere mortals in rllmuk have broken 1.34 yet.

alright! 1.34.6 in the Macca. I can easily get two tenths better just by doing T1 properly, but that one's usually up to the fates, picking the speed and turn-in point is really tough. I reckon there's getting on for half a second elsewhere in the lap for me too if I can do it right, that definitely wasn't a perfect run.

Do you brake for T3? I think my car's balance might be out of whack.

The fast corner before the Shell hairpin? I usually do a quick dab on the brake, simply lifting off can be done I think, but I’m not sure it’s worth the risk of failing to get back over for the next braking zone. I just watched another hot lap on YouTube to see what the experts do and the guy put like 5-10% brake on for longer than I’ve been doing so that might be worth a try too.
