For people who use ACC Results Companion, it looks like it doesnt count laps driven on the server as mine because the server sets me a different name. Now I have 2 Eriks on the leaderboard and my laps didnt count as my own.

They should probably change it so that it uses the steam ID as the primary identifier, rather than name... because yeah the practice server uses an entrylist file that I've created which overrides the driver info with our forum names.

I have to do a bit of homework to learn basics of ACC but I have a few questions.

  1. A good old friend of mine just got the game I bought the game to a friend of mine,  he asked me if there is any way to check the lap times of steam friends in the game.
  2. Also I wanted just to do some practice with him, trying to beat each other time, some casual racing and observing each others driving. Is there any simple way to do that?
  3. This friend also told me that he really liked some sort of  GT Sport rating system that filtered people who just want to mess around, I assume there is something like that in the game?
  4. I have heard a lot about simracing.gp lately, there was a whole race department episode just about it but... I am still not sure what it is. Is it a full service with their own servers or is it just some sort of match making and then you run/find the server yourself?

Thats it for now. Thanks in advace. , yesterday I tried Barcelona for the first time my times were terrible but Im loving it.

  1. Nothing in-game, unfortunately.  The game is very lacking in this regard, sadly.
  2. No way to do this with the tools available in-game.  We have the practice server available which you could both use?  If you go to the multiplayer menu, server list and search for 'rllmuk' you'll see it show on the list.  I've added you to the entrylist so you can access it (I'll PM you the password) so if your friend also wanted to access it he'd just need to be given the password.  That said, the server is currently configured for GT4 cars @ Silverstone (practice for our league race this week) and I assume you've started with the GT3s.  But do feel free to dip into this server when you want.
  3. Nothing like this in-game.
  4. It's a full service that provides all the servers.  As a community owner it makes it easier to create events, leagues, series etc (and manage the participants) and as a driver you can just join different communities and then see all the events that they're created in a central place.  Once the events are running you then search for the server that is created in-game (in the way I described in point #2)

EDIT: I've just set the practice server so it's open to GT3 & GT4 now so feel free to have a play around

I dont know how exactly GTS works, but in ACC comparing laptimes is less useful because conditions, fuel and tyre wear all have very big effect. Between full tank and quali fuel there is usually more than a second, and another second or more between low temperature overcast(or night) and hot clear sky.

@davejm Thanks a lot for your answers I have a few videos and links to docs to learn the basics of the game. But haven't had a lot of time lately

I'm happy to try GT4s it is a shame they are so under-used. I think Kunos should make a GT4 career mode.

Love that they feel more "real".

I'm not at home at the moment but later I'll be happy to pop round. Thanks

I'll be jumping back in this week, hopefully for all the rest of the season too as my fitness is almost back to normal levels and I've been running and working out with no issues for a month now. Looking forward to some fun races, scrapping it out with the back of the field.

It'll be great to have you back :)  Check out this thread here for signing up to simracing.gp...

Guys, I've just been taking a look at simracing.gp and with our leagues added as 'Championships' it means that if anyone can't make a particular race it will show on their driver profile as a 'no show'.  I'm inclined to re-create the leagues as a 'Series' instead; which means that although you'd have to register for individual race it means it won't show on your driver profile as a no-show if there are any you have to miss.

EDIT: All done.  So you'll now need to register for each event, but the lesser of two evils I think!

I've been given some mod access to the Discord server, so have made some adjustments.  There is now a dedicated 'rllmuk Racing' category, with associated text channels and a voice channel.  The 'announcements' text channel is a channel that only you guys should have access to; which will make it easier to share information (that I can't otherwise share with the forums being public).  Can you all see if you have access to this?

I haven't added you to the @racers role yet, as I don't know your Discord username and I can't find you in the user list.  Can you sign up to simracing.gp, associate your Discord account with that account on there, and then 'APPLY' to join the simracing.gp community... I'll accept you and will be able to see your full Discord username on there.

For this week (and subsequent weeks) , do we enter the lobby via simracing.gp or the usual route, e.g. in game. Or is simracing.gp just for registration and thereafter stat keeping, etc.

I ask as I normally start my game via crewchief.

Ben.

In-game, in the same way as normal.   simracing.gp is just a fancy server hosting system.  The only difference is that you do have to register for each race on simracing.gp before you try to join the server, because otherwise it won't let you connect.

The simracing.gp website gives you the unique name of the server for each event (and the password, but that's the same as its always been), and a little copy button.

I'd just do a search for the server called "BIE2Y"

I joined from within the game's server browser last week...  you don't it from the the simracing website.  I assume you can do it via Crewchief - but I don't use it, so I don't know.

Argh, I'm so busy again this week with wedding arrangements that I haven't been able to practice. Nearly done though, so I should be good for the race come Thursday...possibly without much practice.

I noticed Gamermuscle was doing some GT4 racing tonight, and one of the races was at Silverstone so I joined in.

Managed to qualify 4th (despite joining late, so good practice for Thursday!) but got totally smashed around in the race.  It was serious carnage, and ended up finishing second to last with a 5 point hit to my safety rating 😬

Lesson learnt.  Stay away from random Youtuber racing.  Madness.

I continue to not really have much of a clue about driving Silverstone well. Turns out I'm about the same in that respect whether GT4 or 3 so clearly a "problem behind the wheel" situation. I've at least got it to a quite consistently slow lap now which is usually good for some consolation points. Maybe if I get to put in a good bit more practice I'll eke some more time out of it.

It's likely to be throwing it down, so that'll mix things up!

I have no idea how to drive Club or Brooklands-Luffield combination either. I can lose or win 3 tenths in them and have no idea what I did differently :D
