My steering inputs look oddly jerky and twitchy is there a chance other players' inputs aren't represented accurately in the replays? At one point it jerked and skipped left /right in an impossible way, really hope that's not how I drive

yeah, also I kept seeing these times where I clumsily missed apexes and other such unlikely things 😆

Shame the replay doesn’t include me cackling at you guys and/or cursing myself when i forgot about my part of the driving and made a mistake.

Yeah it approximates the steering inputs of other players. If you guys all send me your replays, I can make a montage. 😁

I will be heading to Brands Hatch as soon as I get a bit of charge on the powerbank.

First time in any racing event ever!!!

Grandstands sold out soon probably very limited tickets because of covid.

If you know the best spots to watch and just to experience please share in a post.

@Valver You joining us in the Ferrari this season?

Yep, fancied a change!

Surprised to find my time up there - I wasn't happy with any of my laps in practice.  I vaguely recalled the track from a previous season, but I was making so many mistakes.  That time is going to get bettered very quickly.

Absolutely spectacular! And I wish my game looked like that.

Mine doesn't look like that either - @davejm did you apply some filters/potatoshop to them?

Yeah Nvidia HDR filter and Vignette was applied.  But I also run the game in 200% resolution with everything maxed in Replay mode.

Can the RTX3080 render ACC in 4K60?

That's a great idea, @SharkyOB you up for Oulton?

(Wouldn't be against Donington either!)

Yep, I'm in for Oulton and could potentially do Donington as well, although I am playing at a little festival on the Saturday.

I had another go with the McLaren earlier.  I like the feel of the car for the most part, but I'm inexplicably slow compared to the Ferrari (even when pushing) and there's some weird weight transfer behaviour that sends me into a spin when I least expect it.  Similarly I won't have time to practice (to get quick, or sort a setup) whereas with the Ferrari I'm used to the default aggressive setup now.  So I'll stick with it this season too.

In other news, I need slapping.  I've woken up both mornings now and the knee has felt better, only to jump in the sim rig right away and have the knee feeling bad again later. 😬

yeah, I fancied a change this season too but the GT4 is already enough to learn so I'll stick to what I sort of know in the Honda. Also there's getting to be too many Ferrari drivers, I don't like to look too much like a herd-follower :)

That's why I ditched the Porsche after Bathurst, but then nearly everyone else did too 😆

I thought about it as well, but in my next choices I couldn't really match my laptimes and it's about the only GT4 I've spent any time in, so there we go. It's all good really, at least we get to colour them in.

Alright, some exploratory laps recorded. I am at the stage I reach with every new track: "hmm, this is really hard, I cannot see how to do it fast AT ALL :hmm:" and then I'll randomly find a whole second just by linking a couple of corners better. Also, who's idea was that three corner complex just before the last turn, if I want to practice driving in a multi-storey carpark I can do that in real life! Ugh.

Anyway, if I find time to put in 50 laps or so of practice between now and the race I should be reasonably good, otherwise it'll be a battle to not find myself in the wall at some stage.

What do you mean I wasn’t slowest?

In all seriousness I know the Catalonia GP circuit relatively well and more importantly I had dug out my underappreciated Oculus headset for that session. Forgot what a difference VR makes.

I just wish I had more free time to spend in the chair 😭

Gonna sit it out this week :(  And next week I'm on holiday (which is a mid-season break week anyway).

Hopefully I'm fighting fit when I return.

@SharkyOB and @Meers you're server admins so you can forward the practice session on to qualifying at the appropriate time.

Thursday is the on-boarding session with simracing.gp so I think we'll have access to the community features at that time.  We should use the mid-season week to test out the platform (which is annoying as I won't be here!).  With that in mind, is anyone free Friday evening or sometime Saturday lunchtime (or both) to do an interactive session on Discord where I take you through it so you can create an event for next Thursday?  We'll have the ability to do AC & ACC races if we do switch to the platform (and Raceroom too).

How many of us have Assetto Corsa with the DLC?

I can't unfortunately, I'm heading down to Bristol to see my brother this weekend and I'll be busy Friday and Saturday.

Yes I have AC too but what mods do I need?

We won't know what mods simracing.gp supports until later in the week.  If enough people want to do a practice AC race (or races) next week we can take the discussion to that game thread (and we can decide on an event, which mods to use etc).

RE: simracing.gp I've got my reservations about whether switching to the platform is a good idea.  A few reasons stand-out:-

  • You have to race with your real name.  You can have it show as your first name and the first letter of your surname; but we wouldn't be able to race with our forum names.  This doesn't bother me too much, but it may for some.  I like being able to identify users here and in-game though.  So it'd be a shame to lose that.
  • No access to results files.  They want you to use the platform's features for results tracking; but I'm skeptical that the stats/tracking are as feature rich as some of the third party apps and websites available (simsource, ACC results tracker etc).
  • I don't think there's a way to have a looping practice session.  You have to create specific events with a start time; and although we could create practice events each night I don't think the servers get created until at least 4 people register.  So that wouldn't work.

... but lets see what it's like.  One of the benefits I can see if we do switch to the platform would be the ability to recruit new members in a more visible way.  And I'm thinking of creating a dedicated server anyway (for Plex primarily) so I could host an ACC server on there for looping practice sessions.

I've got AC in whatever the 'comes with everything, ultimate probably' edition is. Barely touched it though, I installed the content manager thingy too but got a bit lost after that and ACC came along. Also, I'm away next week as well it looks like. If that's the break then I'm in luck.

Get well soon Dave. As a former knee troubles sufferer, I know how much it sucks. Give it some time and let it heal properly.

Cheers for the admin rights. We'll sort it out for you.

I have my vasectomy come Friday so I won't be doing anything in the days after. 😓

Back to the topic of Thursday's race... details below.

For the benefit of the new guys; the GT3 Endurance races are 60 minutes long with 1 mandatory pitstop (for fuel and/or tyres) with a full formation lap.
