 Double check against the other non British tracks I did, and the Lexus setups are indeed different - suspension, antiroll bars, bump/rebound and aero all vary...

Interesting about the GT-R!

So cool!  Just found this track map which show the old layout with Range Corner:

I'm gonna look for that corner next time I'm there, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the tarmac is still there.

pretty sure they used that bit for the rallying the other year, there was a water splash on it!

I feel like I might be quite quick in Snetto, subject to seeing how our times compare this week. But I can't say I love the track - the bombhole being the most exciting elevation change all the way round and there's so many corners that just seem to tighten for a little bit longer than I want them to and they're nearly all slow ones apart from Coram that goes on forever and... yeah.

Anyway I'm trying to get used to T-LCM pedals now so if I'm slow it's definitely because of that. Having so many adjustment options is like trying to get an ACC setup dialled in, I'm petrified by all the choices so I've left them on default springs and just adjusted the Force slightly, so far.

For me, the key was not to mess around with it too much after finding an initial setup.  After watching a couple of YouTube videos, I went for 1 black spring at the top, 1 red spring at the bottom and 3 (I think) washers in the preload.  I don't think my wheel stand would allow me to have stronger springs than this as it flexes a bit.  I'm happy with the way it feels and I won't change it now, as I've built up my muscle memory so I can trail brake effectively.

My T-LCMs just turned up and I immediately thought  "I wonder what springs everyone else is running?" , so that's interesting info.  My initial thoughts were I wanted less pre-travel (so I'll add some of the washers) and I want to make the pedal stiffer overall.  I may just go full reds.

I went full reds and all the washers; but I have the benefit of the aluminium profile rig so that helps.  I used it with the stock spring setup to start with, and it was like a new pedal set switching them out to get rid of the pre-travel.

@Valver if this is your instinct then just go for it now; its a definite improvement.

I felt like John McClane in Die Hard deliberately stick too many detonators into my stick of C4 and shouting "f*ck it"

Full reds and all the washers it is!

I’ve gone red spring at the bottom, washers, black spring. A little progressive buildup, is my thinking.

also that lap up there ^ is a full second faster than my second-fastest lap and I’m not yet sure what I did to make it happen. Weird session, I was feeling slower and like I was having trouble getting used to the pedals and then that happened.

I've got an i5 (2.9ghz) and a Geforce GTX1660 Super 6GB. Is this going to run?

Most definitely, but likely not on max settings. I'm running it on a laptop (i5 7300, GTX1050 4GB, 8GB RAM) at mostly minimum settings at 1080p60. The CPU might cause a bottleneck though (it does on my setup) as ACC is very demanding on CPU power.

I googled and the poor bastard has to have it on the second line of everything about him, he's no relation to Nigel. Which I think might make this very forum still a closer part of the family, kind of. It's pretty damn cool that this game is accurate enough that real-world analysis and advice can be applied to the sim.

I've definitely seen him before for one or two clips, trail braking and other technique stuff mostly.

There's an ACC Youtuber called "Zermatt" whose track guides I find most useful for a lot of them, so once I've done a bit of a recce and learned the track reasonably well I check him out.

I've done a bit of practice, and I'm definitely not a fan of the track.  I haven't enjoyed learning it compared to Oulton Park!

Still feel this way? Blimey you put in a good lap before bed there!

By contrast I think I spent too much of the night wiring bad racing lines into my brain, I only liked a couple of laps. Off-night, hopefully, still getting the hang of these pedals!

Yeah, still not a fan (compared to Oulton), but I got in some good practice last night.  Got in some good race-fuel practice in the earlier session, but wasn't totally happy with my quali pace practice so I dipped back in before bed and it came together for a good time.

Hopefully next practice will be better for you :)

This track reminds me of Assen - flat and featureless. The only thing that Assen does better is the flow. I'm with Dave on not being a fan of Snetterton.

I noticed my C disk was nearly full so I went to see how I could clean it up a bit first. I noticed OneDrive took up a lot of space (~100GB) so I decided to move it to my D disk.

Bad move.

Apparently ACC uses OneDrive op my system to save all its data. Video settings, tuning settings, replays, controls settings, the lot (why is that stored on OneDrive in the first place?!). So I had to set everything the way it used to be from memory. Took me 1.5 hours and when I was finally finished, I did a couple of laps after that only to be met with stuttering sound. So another reboot then, which seemed to fix the issue. By then I was too annoyed and knackered to set a competitive lap time (and it shows) so I gave up for the night. PC gaming is nice, but I could do without all this bloody hassle! Bah, and humbug. <_<

@davejm, the above setback caused my racing number to be reset on the server. Can you set it back to #15 please?

@SharkyOB, do you know how demanding the Crew Chief app is? I have a suspicion it draws quite a bit of performance on my system. The stuttering sound issue described above happened every time the chief started to talk, and the issue seemed to be fixed after the reboot when I didn't reload CC again (I used the in-game spotter instead).

No idea tbh mate, but I'd have thought it wasn't particularly taxing, otherwise no one would use it.  I'd be more worried that those file changes you've made and then had to reverse are causing issues though.  Is there any way you could copy the stuff you want to keep (setups, replays etc) to a backup folder then do a complete clean install of the game before copying back the bits you need?  It might be replays that are taking up extra space, so cleaning those out might be best, so you can get ACC back on the SSD.

Crew Chief was weird last night, I used it to practice and it was giving me some really random time readings (4 seconds slower in that sector, hang on it was within a couple of tenths!) and told me the pit exit was clear right before I popped out on exactly the right place to get in @Valver’s way. I do like it, but I’m learning not to trust it.

If the number was showing as anything other than #15 on the server that's just ACC being iffy; it's definitely set to 15 in the entry list.  Hopefully fine next time you're on.  Sometimes the server has random times of day when you join too.

I spent most of my practice session last night farting about with settings.  Mapping all the new wheel buttons to the various things I need, not yet having any sort of muscle memory of the wheel layout, and not being able to see coz I was in VR, was quite frustrating.  But I think I've got everything set now.

image.thumb.png.3fbfc84c20da0b8c2197332028d95e00.png

So many invalid practice laps last night.  There are three corners I dread:

1. Agostini  I seem to need to brake way before the rubbered in section everyone has used, and even then I'm struggling to make it round the corner.  My mid corner speed feels painfully slow, I'm convinced my line is wrong.  It's just a mess for me right now

2. The Brundle-Nelson complex.  I feel like I'm braking too early for the initial left hander (as evidenced by Milko being caught out and giving me a nice rear tap :bye:) but even with that reduction in speed I still seem to then having a panic getting the speed down even further to drop into second, to be able to take a good line through the following right.  I frequently clip the big sausage there too, kicking me wide at exit.  More practice required.

3. Murrays.  So I'm in 4th gear feathering throttle round that whole fast right (Coram) and then suddenly it's "find a straight line, brake, and take a hard left"  And if you dont get good exit speed, it ruins the entire run up Senna straight.  Yeah - you're all going to pass me there.  Nice

1)  I brake before the rubbered line; then go a little deep and take a late apex.  I think there's a pole at the point where I hit the throttle.

2) I hit the brakes hard into third then trail brake slowly, then hit the brakes hard again and go down into 1st for the right hander.  So there are two phases of hard braking for me here

3) I go up into 4th and then coast around the corner, then when I've scrubbed enough speed to the point where I'm oversteering into the right hand side of the track I give it some more throttle.  Then when I come back around I'm hard on the brakes again and down into first.

Yeah that makes sense mate. I'll give it a more thorough (and less rushed) look after Thursday's race to see if I can set it up more effectively. Seems more likely that the lack of SSD space was causing all of the performance issues I had in the last weeks, and I only noticed it last night so I'll investigate soon. My SSD is only 120GB so I suspect I have installed it on OneDrive or something (I'm still ignorant enough it seems). I have plenty of space on my HDD (1TB) but it doesn't really help with the performance either when I install it on there (I used to, then reinstalled to the SSD in the past after you guys advised me to).

It's not optimised for ACC and won't be anymore either, as the developer has admitted and stated. it's a shame, but apparently it's rather complex.

Aha, it was weird indeed to see #16 instead.
