Yep, night out would be great.  Shall we discuss tickets?  Looks like you can pay for access to different Grandstands...

Any preference?

I don't think there's any need to get grandstand seats as long as we can all bring camping chairs (I can probably borrow enough for the four of us).  There's a great place I normally camp out on the outside of the Hislop's chicane, pretty much where the 10 is on this image:

From there you see the cars coming down The Avenue into Cascades and then going off down Lakeside.  You then see them come back into view over Hilltop and braking into the overtaking zone at the chicane.  You can also see most of the way up Clay Hill.

I'd only do that on race day, the Saturday is great for walking the circuit and prying around the paddock, assuming it's as open as it is for the BTCC.

Registered via 4g and my phone. For info, the brave browser on IOS does not like the transition from Steam back to simracing.gp !

If you close the page and then just go to simracing.gp via the address bar it should load with you logged in. That’s how I do it anyway.

Been fiddling with the VR settings the last couple of weeks; everything just looked super blurry (primarily in the distance when driving) and my initial thought was that I'd fiddled with some settings or that a driver update or Oculus update had broken things.  It's been doing my head in.

Anyway, turns out the link cable to the Quest 2 was only running in USB2 mode (rather than the recommended USB3).  I tested with a shorter Anker cable I had, which reported the fast speeds (although not usable due to length) so I ordered a new cable.  Amazing, it's like everything is super sharp again (well, as sharp as VR can be).

I'll be sitting it out this week.  Gonna try and dial back my rig time and give the knees a rest.

Still that bad mate? :(

I improved my time last night, but I wasall over the place. @winky was there as well, and we were struggling with the slippery track (due to the track temps). Did you manage a faster time, Winks?

It's a tricky track but I love it. First corner is a dive down so you have to brake really early, lots of fast corners but hit the sausages and you're screwed. Very strict track limits as well and the blind entry into the corkscrew is legendary (aim for the marshall across the track!). The dive down the corkscrew is my favourite bit.😄

Better overall, but good days and bad.   I don't do myself any favours though; I was going to take a few days away from the rig but last night I ended up in the Maserati @ Bremgarten; and then for some reason I had the urge for a single player race @ Monza back in ACC (I wanted to see how far I could push the AI difficulty level) 🤨

Nah, I quit just after you. I could not get the car to rotate mid corner and gave up with the tweaking after yet another spin.

Will start again from scratch tomorrow or tonight and see if I can get the car setup better.

Chances are that I'm not able to attend the last race of the season. It's the night before our holiday and we need to pack up.

Staying in the Netherlands though. Can't be arsed to go abroad in these times. They lifted a lot of restrictions lately but it went to shit fast (youths getting the jab and going partying the same night, abusing the system in general and getting infected. A shoddy government decision in all).

Just did my first hour of practice around laguna seca, what a slippery track. I really struggled to get a lap in in the first 30 minutes, and it seemed to be any time I even just touched the gravel I was backwards or in a wall, it's not very forgiving.

Going to do another hour of practice tomorrow and hope I can improve a bit before the races on Thursday.  Maybe I should've done some practice over the weekend, to late now though.

Tell me about it, I was going to book flights back to Ireland this week but how the numbers climbed so quickly I'm holding off a bit longer and hoping things don't get too much worse. The 'dancen met jansen' was just an idiotic idea.

any of you Porkers done much setup on this track? I'm finding it amusing but very understeery as a rule. Not spent much time at all on it yet though.

Tried for a bit last night.  It was pitch black, so I don't think it was particularly representative of the conditions we'll face in the races, but the car felt horrible.  No grip at all and setup didn't seem to be helping.  I might just go back to the default aggressive setup and work things out in the practice session tomorrow.

Still feeling a bit meh towards the game at the moment, which is odd as the races are great each week.  Just can't seem to generate any motivation for practicing.

Ah, if you get pitch black you just need to log back out and in, it seems.

it is really slidey, I had to throw the car into corners so hard, which doesn’t feel very “ACC” smooth, I doubt it’s the ideal approach. More of an Initial D.

It being dark is a glitch apparently. A quick rejoin of the server would have fixed that. track is usually around 36°C.

Seems like every single one of us will be hitting the motivation wall sooner or later. 😓

Yeah, I know.  The problem was there were a few of us on the server and one person wasn't on Discord, so it would've been difficult to coordinate a mass exodus.

Seeing as the track is located in California, the track surface is much hotter than most tracks in ACC, causing the rubber to go soft which results in more sliding. It's hell when it starts to rain when the track is rubbered-in.

Ah right, but there's always the in-game text chat. 😉

Yup, I'm pretty much resigned to jumping in for a quick race these days, got no real urge to practise anymore. It's been fun, but time to move on to other games and ACC going back to a randomly selected 20 min race with carnage at first corner :D. It's good racing with you guys though as it's probably the cleanest racing I've had online with ACC.

Yep, that's me at the moment too. I'm just not improving any more, and the motivation to always finish 4/5th is sliding away.  I can't spend the many hours needed to improve, so any practice I do just reinforces my negativity towards it. Oh good, only x seconds off the pace... still.

But I love the heat of battle and going wheel to wheel on track, so maybe I'll just bin practice, accept a lower starting position and enjoy the racing..

I’m sort of tempted to try Raceroom again - has anyone played it recently?

I tried it for the first time a few weeks ago. Seems ok, but I haven't played it enough to see any difference from PCars, AC, ACC, AMB2 etc. Seems less resource intensive in VR than ACC.

Actually, there's a rather poor bug - when you start in VR your viewpoint is miles above the screen so it looks like everything is black until you look down and see a postage stamp screen way down below you. Resetting the VR view fixes it, but for a while I thought it was properly broken.
