@winky ah, didn't take it that way no worries on that, just always feels bad when you inadvertently mess up someone's race innit. I think I got in @Count Buffalos way more than once, I suppose I could say we're quits for a Donington race ages ago now mate 😜 (but no, I'm annoyed with myself still and sorry)

Gonna get a beer!

Yes true I get it is gutting to think you messed up someone else’s race - the problem is everyone is too polite and nice 👍

then was chasing @EuroVapeSim2 but didn't lift early enough on Eau Rouge and hit his rear :(  Gutted as I was flying at that point.  I'm thankful I didn't ruin your race dude!

I got away with the contact and sort of bounced off the wall with minimal damage and facing the right way, I was lifting a bit too much in eau rouge as well all race as I wasn't feeling confident through there. The timing was super unlucky as @SneakyNinjagot passed you on the straight right after you let me back through. It was unfortunate as you had a large pace advantage over me as did sneaky, I got very lucky with my qualifying position to be ahead of you guys at the start of the race.

Still I had some great fun tonight some good battles and really enjoyed racing in the tricky conditions.

Bring on the corkscrew next week!!!

Had to work hard for this one! Track developed massively during qualifying, and I felt I had to improve on the final lap. I think the previous time would have been enough, but when I felt how much more grip the track had I didnt think it would be.

Race start and couple of first laps were good, which is not typical for me. Again I had made last minute setup changes which were not worth it as I started to lose my rear tires quite early, which I feel played part to Santos maintaining the gap close. We had some moments with lapped cars where I lost the gap behind entirely, but fortunately Santos didnt get to attempt an overtake. Santos again pit before me and I would pit 2 laps later when I was catching lots of traffic again. Nailed the pitstop where this time I took some fuel, found myself nearly 5 s ahead at pit exit and took it easy and safe the final laps to chequered flag!

Surprised I was able to stay around 2 secs of @Erik for most of the race until our late pitstops. Felt I learned a fair bit about the track/car and my load cell brakes on this race, feeling good at the end, if I had a bit more practice before I could have put some real pressure!

Happy with that fastest lap, do we get a mini trophy for our mantelpiece? :D

Nice one, @davejm!

Mate, we had some great scraps halfway during my first stint! And that overtake of yours at the final chicane was amazing! And totally legit as well, so I'm not quite sure why you gave me the position back on the home straight. I knew you would outbrake me as you've been a lot quicker through there than me in previous laps. So I gave you the space and chose a different line through there in an attempt to overtake you on the home straight again.

As you know, I brake a tad earlier (due to 'the knee') but carry a bit more speed through corners with trail braking so it was a concession I was willing to take. You didn't hit me or made an illegitimate pass (as far as I could tell) so there was no need to give the position back I don't think. 🙂

The under(over?)cut on me was totally unexpected as well, I thought I had the upper hand with my stop. Great tactics.

I think your tap on my rear (no innuendo!) caused some damage as there was some added time in the pits for repairs. Seemed to slow me down slightly as well, but that could also have been something psychologically.

I think you're right, in hindsight.  But I was slightly late on the brakes; so I under-steered into the space I was planning to leave for you.  So it felt like a bit of a dive.  Ah well, yes it was a good battle.  It's a shame we came together a bit later; so apologies for making a mess of it in the end!!

The overcut was pretty simple really.  I was 2+ seconds quicker when in clean air; so when you darted into the pits I had 3 laps where I'm sure I gained 6+ seconds on you.  Plus, I totally nailed my stop too.  Are you using manual ignition and start?  That saves a bit of time (2-3 seconds maybe).  And if you repaired the car, that wouldn't have helped!

After all those years sim racing, I've developed a sixth sense for others to outbrake me hahaha! I usually counter it by taking that other racing line through a corner. 😅

I'm always very aware of my surroundings during races despite my mirrors being switched off, but by using Crew Chief, 3 buttons to look left, right and back and the radar and proximity arrows I don't really miss them. Saw you thundering towards me and knew you were going for it, so I gave you the space by switching lines (plan B). But you were so much faster anyway and I knew it was a matter of time before you would overtake me.

No worries about the coming together mate, that stuff happens sooner or later. And as I was jokingly cracked the "what did I tell you about keeping it clean..." line, I saw that you had dropped back. I didn't think the shunt was hard enough to make you spin, but apparently it did. You made a comeback later though, as I was having a less consistent few laps due to checking on my daughter's monitor (she started to cry for a while but went back to sleep a few minutes later which she always does).

I used to use manual ignition and starter, but decided to set them to auto again. I think I will switch to manual again if it makes such a difference (all small gains are welcome). The repair took about 4 seconds extra I think. 19 secs in total, but otherwise a clean pitstop.

@davejm something that may or may not work for you, but I went back to softer "springs" on my loadcell brakes, and last night's race felt a lot less like a full body workout :) Theory is that having very heavy load cell brakes you are able to take advantage of higher "bit depth" and gradation to make finer adjustments, but, for me at least, what I lose in accuracy and definition I gain in being less physically stressed, which made a big difference specially towards the end of the race.

I moved to stiffer springs because I was faster over 1 lap, but having had a few races now I noticed I was just working too hard, and it feels like I can still apply the modulation feel I learned then to my softer setup.

Just a thought you might want to try if you keep getting knee issues!

Thanks, I've lowered the brake force to 65% (from 80%) and have moved the pedals slightly over to the left.  I still have some knee pain, but it's getting better and I've even started running again.  I think more of a break from sim-racing & running is needed; but I don't want to :(

Yeah definitely.  I don't think the July date is doable, but I'm eying up the Oulton Park race.

I assume we will use our usual discord then ?

I reckon we should use the simracing.gp Discord chat... 'Daily ACC GT3 Chat' channel...

Last time I signed up for one of these races no-one joined that discord chat, but shall we join that incase anyone else from the race joins in?
