  Ooops, edited it now

Not sure if it was me either, race 2 I qualified 2nd and on the first corner dropped to 3rd behind @Erik i stayed close-ish behind the lead pair for a lap or 2 and then had a pretty uneventful race to myself. I had two small off tracks looking at the mini map for yellows and missing braking points but I didn't really race anyone.

OK, who's P. Rooney then?  Own up!!  :sherlock:

Here is my qualifying lap in the wet.  Super chuffed with it, I think swapping the clutch for my accelerator on my csl pedals made my right foot much better, the spring is heavier and easier to get smooth inputs compared to the regular throttle pedal.

Loved it tonight!  Congrats to our winners @Erik (see, I said you'd win anyway 😉 ) and @SANtoOos

I did much better than what I expected, happy with the result. I managed 1:43 in practice https://streamable.com/9f7xvz but could not get anywhere near today. Maybe if I had realized there was time for a 3rd fast lap I could have taken pole for race 1... In race 1 itself I had way too low pressures and lost more on the kerbs which resulted in me being slow, but it didnt matter in the end as Santos had to take the drive through penalty and gap behind me quickly grew anyway.

In 2nd and wet quali I had 24 PSI because I had no idea what pressures to try, so 3rd was again better than expected, and then in race I took 2nd in start. I could stay with Santos and ever so slowly catch him but in the end I ran out of time and my car hated slippery conditions early in the race even more than optimum, what a surprise. :P

My car was very difficult to drive the whole week and I tried pretty much everything setup wise without much success. Its not that it wanted to spin, but rather that it was very lazy to turn into corners even with lowest ARB and diff, slidey, bouncey and wanted to drift when getting back on power. Glad to move to next track and GT3. :D

honestly, that was much more fun for 30 minutes than I expected to get out of tonight's race - if anyone wants to give me league points for racing so closely with valver, please do :)

Highlights were nice to watch, I kinda felt all week like I was actually enjoying a break from the obsession but watching those has restored the FOMO very nicely. See you all soon, I'm back home on Sunday.

honestly that's better from me than I expected, given that I'm sat in a hotel room in Edinburgh, the better for several beers, wine and a whisky finisher and typing this from a somewhat antique Macbook Pro and definitely didn't partake in any racing tonight. But I think you've perhaps mistaken me for the also-lightly-shaded-paintjob-and-not-hugely-dissimilar-pace of @EuroVapeSim2 ...perhaps?

 (I also thought Winky was you)

Yeah I think I just got a bit heavy footed at the start and went a little over the speed limit, not by much, backed off  straight away so felt a bit harsh, pretty silly of me to give that away anyways. Had a really fun comeback race, nice to battle for position with @extremepabs @mrben09 @Meers @winky / @milko

And others, great driving all!

Loved the rainy quali, no idea what to do with pressures either but it all came together. Race was just a simple matter of getting the head down and making no mistakes at all knowing full well @Erik was ready to pounce, so no pressure 😂

Can we have a full season of GT4 rainy races please ;)

Hey congrats on to the podium guys. That was a real fun race. Highlights for me were trying to chase down @Meers then getting a chance to hold-up @SANtoOos

My objective for tonight was to be consistent and be more aggressive so quite happy with the results.

Race 2 was a nightmare, Ran qualifying with a full tank of fuel, fluffed my second lap and then had the wrong tyre pressures for the race. Start of the race was fine when the track was slippy but I was off pace by lap 3 and then kissed a wall over -driving later on. The resultant ‘light damage’ included a car that was pulling left (including a steering wheel/column being off centre) and a bonnet that was about to come off. (Note to team, sack that race engineer’

It was still fun trying to hang on to places but with the damage and the tyres I was easy pickings out the last corner and on the run up the start/finish straight.

great night though, and to think I was grumbling about this circuit earlier in the week.

Special shout to @SANtoOos (I think) - asking @Meers if he was mayor of this town had me in stitches 😂

Is that what he said?  I could barely understand people over the roar of my engine (turned it up in solo practice, forgot to turn it down again).

And yes, I am the mayor of Zandvoort. :P

Great races for me! First race was a bit meh as my car was a bit slidey and clearly not up to the speed of others, so I had to fall back on consistency and being lucky. Which worked - started 7th, finished 6th. I'll take that, thank you!

Second race was a lot better. I think wet and greasy conditions (no innuendo) are my thing as I managed a 5th qualifying spot. Lost 2 spots at the start and had some good scraps all around (but the car still wasn't up to speed, I may change to a different brand). @SharkyOB was quick as lightning when the sun came out (despite stuggling at first with the greasy track, which caused me to overtake him), closed in fast and overtook me after which he chased and scrapped with @SneakyNinja for 4th. They came together in the Renaultbocht and I sailed past to grab 4th.

Loved the weather in these races as they suited the location perfectly. Zandvoort is really well suited for GT4 cars, indeed. More of that please!

Congrats to all podium finishers! Here are the standings after 8 races:

That sounds interesting. So do I understand corrctly that you removed the entire throttle pedal and put the clutch pedal in its place and not just swapped the springs around?

9 and 9. Not great to anyone but I was happy. No major incidents and relatively consistent lap times. At times i actually felt like I was racing. Would do again.

Velux confirmed sponsor for the end of season most improved driver trophy.

Having just watched the start of race 2, it appears I took 3 bangs on the first corner and none of them gave me massive damage or were down to me. I'll take that.

I think I missed the in-joke, but explain the Velux connection to me, please? 🤷‍♂️

In race 1 poor @SharkyOB had to pull over and stop racing for a minute or so because in his loft room he'd left the Velux roof window wide open, and the rain had started pouring in.  Which gifted me 2nd place.

Yeah that's exactly it, just swapped the whole pedal and swapped the cables and it worked. I could've probably swapped the springs but it was really easy to swap the whole pedal.

Aha! I'll have a look into that as well. :hat:

Guys, what shall we do next week?  I likely won't be racing so I'm not too fussed; but it's probably a good idea to change the plan as multi-class doesn't really work with low numbers (especially a longer endurance race).

Couple of options:-

  • Change to single class - GT3 being the obvious choice as we're back in those for the next league race
  • Have a couple of short Assetto Corsa races.  This was the original idea for the mid-season break; but with the on-boarding of the community at SGP it seemed like a good opportunity to go with an open ACC race to see if we could get more folk from the Power Q community but that doesn't seem to have worked anyway
    • Could have a cruising session on the Nordschleife, with an open car selection?  Might be a laugh!
    • Could follow that up with a single class race... something like the minis?  Or some other fun car choice?  Maybe open wheelers of some kind?

🤣  OMG Ben - what is your search history like?  There's someone at Google (or the FBI, or whoever is stalking you this week) scratching their head going "whats wrong with this guy?!"

I've been an IT leader specialising in security among other things for so many years now that all joking aside I'm probably on every list they have and some they don't even know about. I thought everyone had a picture of plastic shark at a Mini launch these days ?

I like the cruising option. I think some of the AC issues came about with people (myself included to some degree) coming to terms with new interfaces and the basic belligerency of AC to be any way easy to navigate until you change the front end. Which reminds me. I need to get the AC DLC.

Yeah, an open 'Schleife session of our own. Would also love a Tatuus FA1 race at Vallelunga.

The best thing I've ever seen on the forum 🤣

So everyone knows what I was up against, the window is one of these:

image.png.f488bbe05ef95be49dff2c263c7a2819.png

It was open over halfway, so the water was running straight down what is normally the outside of the glass and pouring from one corner of the frame onto the carpet!!  I had to lift my VR headset to ascertain this and there was no way I could leave it.  Worst motorsport issue ever!

I'd love to go with option 2, but it'll depend on who has AC and also has it installed.  If we're going to get any AC racing going though, we've just got to go for it at some point.  We all have a week to sort the game if people are up for it and it's stupidly cheap to buy with the DLC nowadays.  Maybe keep it to base/DLC content for now, so no mods?

Hydraulic failure? There was water and it put you under pressure.

For a one-timer, definitely.

Although I've got all the official DLC installed, just wouldn't want to force it on others.
