Someone will need to join the session at 7pm unless you adjust the start time.  Or if anyone wants to fiddle with the weather settings for the event 😀

I'll be on location far away all day again for work so I hope I'll be back early enough to do so. I also had a look at the session setting on simracing.gp and looks like it's all set to go. If need be I can change stuff.

Nice one mate.  I've just been playing around with the race start time; so with a 16:00 start and 4x time multiplier the race will finish in the dark (which is always ace around Suzuka).  Feel free to change the weather settings...

Cloud level is quite low at the moment, so with a weather randomness of 3 it is very unlikely to rain.   With cloud levels of 0.5+ you start to see a high chance of light rain, anything 0.6/0.7+ and you'll see medium rain in a lot of cases.  Pushing up the weather randomness means more variation during the course of the weekend.

The rain slider should be left alone as that always forces a base level of rain.  For a variable weekend with a chance of rain (but no certainty); the base cloud level and randomness sliders should be used in combination.

Maybe we could increase the ambient temp a bit? The rest looks fine to me.

Yeah, although that's an average for the 24 hour period.  So 18 degrees average ambient will likely mean something much higher at midday, for example.

EDIT:  For a 18:00 race start...

So could raise a bit.  Feel free to play weather god for this one as you like.

So, in a surprising turnaround, I actually enjoyed a race last night.

Got in a Suzuka public lobby with 16 other people around my standard. I had a decent set up for the merc and qualified in 8th (/17). Got off well, and was in 5th after 3 laps. Being near the front is very different, isn't it ?

Was flying until I noticed my tires were getting very orange. I noticed that the ambient was about 5 degrees more than our practice server, so I needed to manage the tires. Took a couple of corners a bit wide which pushed me down to 7th, but all good. Got back to 6th, and was cruising around the last lap. I caught up with back marker (!) and as I was about to lap them, they decided to wipe me out completely. So finished 9th, but very refreshed for this week. BTW, my lap times would still put me last here !

Ah I see. Okay, I'll fiddle a bit with the settings, but not too much.

I usually get on for 7:00 so I can try and be there on time.

Must've just missed you dave, good to hear your back in VR and fingers crossed the discomfort passes quickly.

I got on for half an hour myself, tried playing around with the toe angles to try and dial out the understeer, I don't ever remember it being so bad pre 1.8. First I tried maxing out front and back toe, it helped a bit with rotation but I still struggled with understeer in certain situations, I went back to standard values for the aggressive setup and just adjusted the front a bit, not the whole way out though, it helped a lot but reintroduced some snap oversteer, maxing out the wing then helped stop that and I managed to improve my time, got into the 2.03s. Still some tweaking to be done but feeling more comfortable in the car now.

Glad it's gone well! How long til you're back in the saddle, do you think?

I feel like I'd need another week to get to grips with Suzuka properly. Fun challenge, but there are a couple of parts where I really don't know for sure what I'm doing from one lap to the next.

Hard to say.  I've got the heavy bandage to come off tomorrow, but the secondary bandaging has to stay on for two weeks until the stitches have dissolved.  Just gonna see how it feels, but try not to rush back if possible.

Op went well.  They gave me a choice to do it under local anaesthetic rather than general, so feeling fine generally.  Just heavily bandaged arm, and a little pain starting to kick in.  But glad it's sorted!

That's great to hear, best of luck with the healing process.

Always better to be safe than sorry and take it slow with this sort of thing.

Where are the 1:59s? 🤪

There should be a game update today or tomorrow, with more big changes to tyre physics. I hope it wont be Episode 2: BMW(and 720) Strikes Back, but we'll see.

You and SantoOos ain't got time to race with us at the moment!

I hear this toe out business is going to be fixed in some way soon, yeah. I hope we're not into a phase where the community discovers exploit/developers patch it out/car performance is all weird and less of a sim.

Last night i got a fatal error which was a bit disturbing. I rebooted the game and got it again , and on a other reboot (of game) I had lost all my settings (down to having to put my name in to start the game).

One more app start, and it seemed to sort itself. But always crashed when I shut it down, and repeated exactly the same sequence.

Most odd.

They didnt reveal what the problem was exactly but apparently it wasnt a thing before 1.8. During the past week many people have tried all kinds of weird and extreme combinations in various cars and it seems that there arent any more major setup or physics related bugs left. Or at least they dont give more speed.

I'm busy again today until quite late but also getting my 3rd vacc in 25 min. These races are a bit too late for me. In all honesty I dont think I can turn 1:59 here either, I've driven Suzuka very little. 😄
