Just a note on the weather settings for the events this season...

 

Although the idea is to use the 'real weather', we do want some variation.  So my plan is to use the current weather on track as the 'base' setting; then increase the variation slider depending on how variable the weather has been at the circuit over the prior couple of days.  Unfortunately due to the limited weather settings available it does mean that there's a chance of a dry track even if its currently raining; and vice versa.  It'd be nice if we could fix some starting conditions then add variation on top; but you only get the option to set a 'base' level of weather for the whole race weekend.

 

Either way, there should be some variation with weather as closely matching the circuit as possible.

As great as the actual physics and racing are in this, the shell of a game around it is shit.

 

I can race either a 2018 or 2019 Championship with the same 5 tracks in slightly different order, and that's it, leaving the other default 6 tracks going begging. You can't even create a custom Championship, the only way to race those tracks is in a custom weekend single track selection.

There should be 19 tracks in total. You can race them all and any car class you wish and in any order by selecting open championship.

11 tracks with the main game IIRC

 

Are you on console? I think they did some work around this in 1.8 but that's not been released for the consoles yet. I don't even know how that works around the DLC. It is fair to say that Kunos haven't got as much ability for the 'game' surrounding the simulation part that they did so well.

Yeah PS4 version. Have they not been rolling out updates for consoles in the same way as PC then? How far behind is it?

It's another company (that ported to console in the first place) that has to port the patch. I guess maybe they can't even start til the PC one hits some sort of stability and then there's so many customisations built on the Unreal engine here it's not straightforward. 

 

Erm, I dunno loads about dev work! This is mostly guesswork.

I think I can improve by more than a second if I just learn to drive that thing. I like the way Lambo feels and handles, I just need to rethink how I approach and drive corners plus do full muscle memory overwrite. I already like it more than McLaren. My random clicking setup tweaks probably didnt help and might need to go back to safe preset.

Well there's only 30 people working at Kunos, so that might be why. 😅

 

I'm currently a fair bit away from home, so I hope I'll be back in time for the race.
