VR people, just found a way to squeeze a little bit more performance out of ACC, by turning off mirroring (monitoring on your flatscreen).

documents>Assetto Corsa Competizione>Config

Open vrsettings.json
Change "spectator screen mode: 5" to "0"

Used the Tray Tool performance HUD to measure change and got at least 5% extra performance headroom and my eyes also found it more stable, less stuttery. Could be significant to overall stability. Every frame counts for me!

I have an ever better hack than that, wear your glasses.

I don’t normally need my glasses as I have a very weak prescription, but it must be something to do with the headset being so close and staring at it for so long.

Best resolution increase yet 😋

Just been on the practice server to try Zandvoort. What is the opinion of this track from others because I am not liking it. Might be the Aston but feels like I am dragging the car around a cart track surrounded by boring brown grass.

Not a fan 🙄

In my opinion for GT3 its the worst track to race on together with Oulton Park and Zolder. No places to overtake, narrow and only 2 interesting corners. How good it is for GT4 we will see soon 🙃

I really like it, but this is coming from a guy who finds Monza uninspiring and unsatisfying to drive so... 😬 I like twisty/flowy/roller-coaster style tracks, long straights give me too much time to over think stuff

And these are two of my favourite tracks to drive 😂

@SANtoOos dont get me wrong I like to drive many of these Mickey Mouse tracks, just not race them. Flashbacks of 40-car qualifying where I didnt get to drive a single uninterrupted lap and then getting stuck behind a train of slow cars for 60 minutes :D

Ooooff yeah can see how annoying that would be! Bring on Monza  😆

Okay I turned some practice laps and as expected the BMW is a steaming pile of you know what around this track 😁 I guess it needs straights after slow corners to stretch its legs and really, really hates all these many long fast corners. Chronically understeery, couldnt fix that with setup changes yet, and as cherry on top most corners are between gears.

It's sandy dunes!

It's not my favourite circuit either (I don't mind it really), but I chose it because we rarely pick it. It was either this or Paul Ricard (same reason). The only tracks I dislike are tightly walled-in street circuits like Monaco, Singapore, Pau, Baku, Long Beach et al.

It was incredible (and also incredibly dangerous) in the 60s/70s, but the modern circuit isn't a patch on the original flowing track.  I still quite like it though, it's just not a very favourable comparison, but then which circuits have actually been improved by bringing them up to modern standards?  I can't think of any tbh!

It’s certainly better than Paul Ricard but that’s not much of a benchmark. 😜

Monza. Massive safety improvements and more passing opportunities. I'd like to say Spa as well with the reworked bus stop , but now the lack of gravel in Les Combes is more forgiving and sometimes allows for defending cars to maintain position even if they brake too late and go wide.

I hated PR until we raced on it last year, it's actually really fun to drive and it's a great racing circuit.  Looks horrendous on telly, but you don't really see it when you're driving!

Yep, Monza is a good shout.  Maybe Silverstone too as the 60s layout was a bit boring, I don't really like the newest revision so much though.

That's how I feel about it as well. I think it flows really well, but it's a bit featureless.

Hockenheim maybe as well?

Important Notice!

Due to me having to add you all to the closed events myself, can you all check that I've allocated the correct car prior to Thursday?  Despite there being an option to add drivers from a previous event, it seemed to carry over the incorrect car for some of you; so I had to manually change it.  So please check that it's correct and change it if not (you can change car yourself).   We don't want to be in a position where the event starts and you have to race with the incorrect car!

Actually, I've been able to do a comparison from the last GT4 race and it all seems to match up.  So I think we're good.

Only peeps that may want to change are: @daifuco ... you were in the Ginetta last time out but I can see that you've been trying out a few cars in practice so far so be sure to change it if you want (can have 1 change per season; but I know you're feeling your way with the game at the moment so I don't think it matters too much).

@DjScream3 I put you in the Alpine so be sure to change if you want to.

No interest from the PowerQ community so far.  He's not been as active on Youtube lately, so I'd imagine the Discord is less busy.  But I've also seen other communities having to cancel events recently (even MrGit who has had mega grid 100 grid races in the past).  Perhaps the opening up of lockdown restrictions is having an effect?

I'm not sure a mixed grid race is worth it unless we can attract a few more peeps.

Yea I definitely think this is the case. Just given my own experience finding the time to practice for races is becoming more and more difficult... unless you wanna tell your friends and family that virtual racing is more important than them 😅

The only distraction for me is other hobbies. Mainly fishing and the only night it rained enough to bring the river level up was last Thursday! Of course by Saturday it was back to summer low 😕

If a car change is allowed I could be tempted to try another car, the Aston was fine while finding my feet but I wouldn’t mind trying something else, and it would mix up the field. That’s if no one minds… promise not to use the Porsche.

Not fussed if we prefer I keep the same car.

Its probably summer and people spending their time outdoors combined to football and vacations.

I will keep an eye on enduros in several communities and on raceapp.eu. Next big one that doesnt have only Germans is probably RCI's multiclass 10 h of Silverstone on July 31.
