I turned a dozen laps around Snetterton and the best one was 1:49.152. I'm not sure if I like or hate this track but I'm sure that time will get beaten. 😄

While I know its not going to last long - I managed to beat Erik!  1.48.7 :bye:

So if you're interested, here are the Paul Ricard races from my p.o.v.

Those Ferraris were fast on the back straight. Over 285?

edit: heres the 1:54.0 race lap of mine. As you can see its not even particularly clean or smooth and later I could improve up to over 3 tenths in sector 1. Its just so important to carry speed through the long corners and get back on power as early as possible in final corner and the hairpin.

Smooth as butter as far as I can see. Car looks really planted. If you fix that windscreen wiper, you'll go even faster!

Not sure if I get much time to practice this week. My uncle (former rllmuk F1 league partaker) wants to try out my new wheel tomorrow, and not sure if I'll get another night in to tune my 720S and find my way around this absolute pancake of a track.

And some of you excellent chaps thought Paul Ricard was featureless!

Not sure if this is the right thread for it, but I'd think so:
We're looking to do a 24h race on October 30th to 31st at Silverstone, see attached screenshot. Two of the four drivers in my team can't make it, so we're looking for at least two more drivers. Anyone feel like being mediocre with a German and a Frenchman? :D
Not quite sure about the car yet, the Porsche would be our team car, but we haven't finally decided yet

EDIT: We settled on the Boatley 🚢

Oof, very tempting. Especially the being mediocre with a German and a Frenchman bit.

But I can't make it on those days due to other commitments, alas. 😓

Yeah, same for me unfortunately.  I'm going on holiday that day and it's very likely I'd have been playing a halloween festival with the band if I wasn't.

I'd be happy to take that holiday off your hands so that you can go play on that halloween festival mate.

This is on the weekend before our Misano enduro weekend. I'll think about it. I wont make it to the qualifying race though.

Since we're talking bands, @SharkyOB...

On that 30th I have a birthday party of someone turning 50 (said commitment). They want everyone to come dressed up as 80s/90s celebrities so I've decided to be original and go as Kurt Cobain. 😅

Pre or post shotgun to the skull?

Apparently last time we raced here, I did a 1.48.2

Now I'm in the 1.51's.

Surely the Merc can't be that much slower than the Aston? I was a couple of seconds off my previous season's times at circuit de pacman too.

Something strange is afoot. Anyone else seeing similar, or have any ideas as to why I might have regressed several seconds?

I'm too scared to try the Aston again in case it's me :)

Is it just lack of track familiarity and practice around here?

I just laid down some rubber and was all over the place, the track felt so slippery.  Felt very erratic with my inputs, so called it a day to avoid too much frustration.  I know how to take the various corners, but couldn't hook it together and kept going off track.

last time's quali for anybody interested in jogging the memory:

https://simsource.azurewebsites.net/results/pnuv07fb5abe?tab-=qualifying

From what I remember, there are a couple or three corners that can easily add (or remove) plenty of time from a lap when done wrongly (or right). I shall be interested to see how close I get to my time in the Honda for sure, I think that was my first ever podium finish.

Might get chance to hop on for some late practice tonight I reckon.

I somehow managed a 47.9. No idea how, this track remains a complete mystery to me 😵

I think you've got a belter there. Mrs Meers went to sleep early last night, so instead of following her good example I decided to work on my setup a bit.

I think I've got a competitive one but only managed to do a couple of laps. One of them would have been a mid-48'er but due to getting tired I fucked that one up. Called it a night and will try again tonight.

McLarens are clearly struggling a bit again. Try something like this, makes the car softer and less snappy:

Aggressive preset+

-wheelrates 1 click down

-some clicks more bumpstop range(experiment, difference is how it reacts under brakes and high/medium speed turns)

-lower rear ARB and diff. preload

-front 54 mm, rear 68-70 mm, max wing. If its still snappy or bad over kerbs raise front or lower rear more, 1 mm at a time, dont bother trying lower wheelrate or damping

-dampers front 10-12-11-12, rear 19-16-23-16
