Disney Plus - Now with even more movies & TV shows

I'm glad it wasn't just me. Watched Black Panther last night - too dark at times, very messy story, boring at times.

I honestly couldn't get the image of Avatar 2 out my head when watching it (and not in a good way).

I've always found the picture on Disney+ to be darker than other streaming services - in Dolby Vision at least.

On my LG I usually watch most stuff in a dark room in Cinema mode, but for Disney+ I often switch it to Cinema Home which brightens up the image a bit. Sounds like that's going to be a must for Black Panther.

Just finished BP:WF. Very disappointing. I like the first a lot, but this was just tedious, meandering, and an hour too long. The Aquaman cross-over was a crap idea, badly delivered. The only bits that resonated were the Boseman tributes that bookended it.

Disney just announced a trio of new movies -

Zootopia 2 (YES!)

Frozen 3 ( Nice!)

Toy Story 5 ( another one? Ok)

The first two are good news, but another Toy Story comes across as tempting fate.

Unfortunately at the same time, it was announced that they're laying off 7000 people:

O2 finally stopped me renewing the freebie after 12 free months. Best I could find was adding it as a bolt on for I think £2 less than the regular price per month. Minimum 6 month commitment though.

Yeah that's the most likely option I think.

I’ve been texting DISNEY3 to 21500 for the last 2 years. It keeps adding 3 months.

Ahh, might as well try this first. Does it need to have run out first before you text or can you do it say in the week before?

This stopped working for me in October but I was out of contract at the time. I've since had a new contract with 3 months free so I'll be interested to see if it still works (3 months is up next week)

When it did work I had to wait until a day or two before it expired to re-activate

Forget that it bombed upon original cinema release, The Rocketeer is classic and a brilliant film.

introducing the son to this, real good, see?

the wife looks up at the telly:

”that’s the guy that stole the jewel and pissed off the two families in TNG!”

”the outrageous Okuna?”

”yeah!”

Can confirm that the DISNEY3 code no longer works (for me at least) and has also been removed from the mega thread over at HotUKDeals.

Anyone got a replacement? :)

  • 1 month later...

Noticed that the all-time great JUSTIFIED has been added, which is a little strange, as it's still on Amazon Prime too.

I'm planning to do a rewatch, if I can fit it in with all the Star Wars I'm consuming at the moment. Loving D+ right now!

I've just been watching Return of the Jedi on Disney+ with my seven year old daughter (Her choice btw). Now I know this film like the back of my hand. Since 1983 I've watched it literally hundreds of times. Sometimes I'm sitting watching it. Sometimes it's just on in the background as comfort viewing. This time I noticed that there seem to be frames missing.

The most obvious one is when Luke tells Leia to get the gun on Jabba's Sail Barge and point it at the deck. As she jumps on the gun and turns it to point it at the deck their is a noticable jump of a few frames. It's basically a bit of bum cheek. I'm also sure that during Luke's fight on the Skiff with Jabba's minions there are a few frames missing from some of the Lightsabre strikes. I don't know if these originate from the 2011 Bluray versions. I doubt it though. I know Lucas has been triming things like the blaster bolt injuries in Star Wars since the 1997 special editions but this is a bit much.

There's also an episode of Bluey where a horse does a dump in front of them. I have the original Australian TV version. My two always wait for it on the Disney+ version but it's cut. Utter nonsense.

There’s an entire episode of Bluey missing on Disney+, because someone says “ooga booga” when speaking gibberish. It’s on the BBC iPlayer.

I remember controversy when D+ first launched, as they’d digitally altered the length of Daryl Hannah’s hair in Splash so you couldn’t see her naked bum in one scene. John Candy’s character’s lifelong habit of upskirting women was apparently fine in a family movie, though!

This is where it starts. I'm paying 80 quid a year to watch censored versions of films and TV programes that I already own/have access to? Fuck that.

I try to be legit where it's possible and fair. I always say give me reasonably priced access to movie and TV libraries and I'll support these services, but this is the reason why I cling onto hard drives stuffed with movies–especially when it comes to things like the Despecialized editions–and I'll go down with my pirate ship.

I don’t watch many children’s films these days as a lot of them seem to have become very formulaic and cookie cutter. However, I’ll always watch a new David Lowery film, and these tweets have me very excited.

I didn't realise History of the World Part II was up on Disney+ ...it's not popped up in the new stuff list.

It's not as terrible as everyone is making out. Much like the movie, there is a lot of meh, but I actually laughed a couple of times.

Willow didn't get cancelled though in the end did it?

I don't remember anyone talking about National Treasure, it really did just come and go.

It got a wee bit of chat in here. Few positive vibes.

I actually thought it was light, breezy and vaguely entertaining.

Willow was unmitigated childhood memory murdering shite mind.

The first episode is weak but I was lol'ing away at the second one onwards. It's stupid and corny but the cast is great.
