Any suggestions for next month's game?

I'm keeping out of it, having suggested Golden Axe.

after club threads for Links Awakening (action RPG), Golden Axe (scrolling beat em up), and in my view, unofficially Scramble (scrolling shooter)...

it has to be a racer (obvious), or a light gun game (trickier). You know, because arcades, because home conversions?

or a puzzle game.

Super Monaco GP on the Mega CD, I loved that. Or Road Rash.

Is the CD version of SMGP any different to the cart version?

I can't say for certain but I don't think so, I just played that version the most.

And while I’m here, I noticed the Wonderswan Color version of this was on my CoinOps’d Xbox the other night and gave it a quick blast out of curiosity. It’s pretty faithful. Seems a capable little machine. Looks good, nice and colourful, runs smoothly. I didn’t play past the first level but I’m keen to give it a proper go.

Cheated a bit by playing with the lives etc but saw the end for the first time ever (been close on the PSP version) and totally didn't expect that to happen!

Keep going with the PSP version, assuming it's the Megadrive version, for the extra dungeon.

Looks like the nominations for next month's game are:

Eswat

Gunstar Heroes

Super Monaco GP

Out Run

Chase HQ

Castle of Illusion

Missile Command

How about we all select a top 3, with 1 as the best, and then whichever game ranks the highest is next month's pick?

Here's mine:

1. Chase HQ

2. Castle of Illusion

3. Super Monaco GP

If anyone has a better idea, be my guest.

Poll thread?

I’d go…

1) Outrun

2) Castle of Illusion

3) E-Swat

I’ve added the poll. Might be a good idea to do these a week before each month or so in future months. It’s  currently set so you have to narrow it down to the one you want and will automatically end at midday on Wednesday.

I’d love to have an excuse to try Gunstar again - I never really persisted with it in the past. They’re all great choices though. :)

I’m half tempted to make a post in discussion and link it to this thread to give ignorant more exposure. This being due to the recent talk a few months back about how lots of people don’t see what’s going on because they never bother to visit it.

Despite still not having played GA yet, I’ve enjoyed how this whole thing hasn’t been going and quite surprised at the interest.

1. Chase HQ. (Not played it since speccy days)

2. Missile Command (never played it)

Not choosing any others as to me they’re all Megadrive staples. And we’ve just had a megadrive (principally) game.

Well I wasn't being serious...

Who the fuck would want to play that? I mean, just look at it -

Spoiler

It's a lot of fun! Genuinely.  But Jag emulation is shit.

I've never played E-swat, although i apparently have it on the PS3  Megadrive collection.

Castle of Illusion I have on Game Gear and Master System.

I have Chase HQ and SCI on God knows how many machines.  Same applies to Out Run.

Think I have Gunstar on 3DS.

Edit.  I see Gunstar and Eswat are both on the PS4 Megadrive Collection.
