Mega Drive Mini, and now... Mega Drive Mini 2!

I preordered just because, and had a big meh feeling about it, but just as I was about to cancel I started youtubing some long plays of the games included and now I'm pretty hyped up for it!

I'm really looking forward to the Mega CD games, particularly Shining Force CD and Final Fight CD, which look and sound incredible. I've been listening to the Mega CD Ecco soundtracks, that sound like awesome 90s new age trance. There's a load of infamous shmups on there that I'm keen to try, like Truxton/Tatsujin and Ranger X. And then the icing on the cake for me is the 'what if' version of Space Harrier II with smoother frame rate and proper sprite scaling. And the first ever port of Puyo Puyo Sun. Love it when M2 drop these little curiosities into their work, it's clear they're very, very passionate about what they do.

Ordered two; one to hack and one as a spare. And I'm absolutely looking forward to it. The selection of games is imo the best yet for any mini that's been released. But what I really wanted is the Mega-CD emulation out of the box. Can't wait to revisit Sonic CD, Silpheed, Sewer Shark and Mansion of Hidden Souls. Once hacked, I'll add Keio's Flying Squadron, Snatcher, Road Avenger, Cobra Command, Time Gal and Afterburner III. Good times!

Thinking of cancelling my preorder. It's been pre order 'able since it went up so I think the whole 'limited quantities' is a little over cooked.. I do think it's overpriced too considering only one pad is included. Maybe it'll drop in price after release, like previous ones have?

I almost preordered because of FOMO but resisted. Now it looks likely this will be overstocked and probably available at a much better price next year.

Yeah. If it was sitting out of stock everywhere I'd have probably kept hold of my order, just because it'd be a nice to have and I could likely sell it on for cost down the line. But as it is, Rex's post was enough to push me into cancelling.

I don't even have a job! What was I thinking?!?

If you check your amazon account you might have a £5 off £15 spend in your offers section on the front page. I cancelled and re-ordered for a slightly more palatable £99.99.

It is pricey for what it is but I think it's fair for the sheer amount of good games (57) and the remastered Space Harrier II

I reckon one of the main reasons it hasn’t been snaffled up like all the other mini consoles is who the fuck even has nostalgia for the Megadrive 2? The best thing about mini consoles are that they’re dinky wee versions of objects that we adored when we were younger. Did anyone adore the Megadrive 2’s design?

I forgot to add the USB 6 button pad will work on a PC or Mister too, so it's very nice for emulating Capcom fighters if you dont have one already
