So there is an EU Tower! Where's it retailing!? Edit: Nowhere yet but seems unlikely they'd produce this for one competition...

As a child I won a Sonic 3 score attack competition while on a family holiday to a caravan resort.

I think it’s time for me to come out of retirement.

From checking a few YouTube vids it would appear this is largely the same as the SNES classic internally so fingers crossed it’ll be pretty easy to hack.

Would be sweet to get some mega cd (Wouldn’t mind giving Snatcher a blast) and 32x games on there.

Currently rinsing (translation: I can make L3) on Snow Bros. Love love love.

I won the Sonic and Knuckles one on the Sega Bus in 1995.

My prize? A T-shirt that was too large that had Knuckles punching a pack of fags on it.

don’t know about everyone else but I want to hear about everyone’s first experiences with Darius, how gunstar heroes holds up today etc.

Gunstar Heroes is the standout game on it, by some margin, and that's not just being willfully obscure. Honestly, most of the games they selected (NA model) have not aged well at all, worse than even the PS Mini, and the hype around it is bizarre. Things like SoR2 are a cut above, but the main effect is to realize just how things have moved on for the better which is not what I expected at all.

The 2.4ghz wireless one will only work with the dongle, you’ll be wanting the bluetooth version for Switch loveliness. But that doesn’t seem to be available yet.

The dongle version will mean you can use it with the MD Mini too though, seems like a slam dunk.

If you can’t wait, the 8bitdo M30 is lush and comes highly recommended.

These have gone up on Amazon this morning, pricey at £35.99 but it does come with USB and OG dongles and a carry case.

OG dongles as in - for use on an actual MD? That's astounding news if so.

Edit: Retro-Bit. Aren't they the guys that did some other modern versions of old controllers and they were a bit on the cheapo side up close?

The 2.4ghz 8bitdo megadrive controllers  also came with dongles to use with the original megadrive too iirc.

Pretty sure these retrobit controllers are meant to be decent. Not got one myself so can’t personally vouch for that.

I've got these two retrobit controllers and I love them. Other than the triggers on the Saturn pad feeling different these are just like the originals.

The d pad on the Saturn version is way out. At least on mine it is

Is it the black one? There was a fault with the first batch and recalled. Amazon reviews reflect this. I think it's been sorted now

Do you know if that issue effected all versions?

I have your Saturn USB pad (Clear version - Inspired by the this is cool Saturn) that I picked up on launch day and not noticed any D Pad issues yet.

I've got the black USB one and I used it to play all 42 games on the system for my recent YouTube mini series and it's performed perfectly.

A few comparison shots of an original Sega MK1653 and the 8 button Retrobit version.

The dpads have that same lovely rolling feeling. Other than the D-Pad itself being a shade darker than the original, and the extra buttons of course, they are identical in weight and feel.

I know a lot of people moaned we didn't get the six button controllers, but those Japanese ones are tiny compared to these, gonna be a few disappointing people when they realise.

Notice how much more room there is on a US/EU controller?

Personally I'm glad we got the original three button with the choice of a larger six button seperately

Got a link to this? The ones I've found on Amazon don't seem to mention the OG dongle, although I can see them for sale separately.

I'm confused. Do you need the dongle to use these with a Switch?

Is it only the 8bitdo Bluetooth pads that can be used with a Switch without a dongle?

Until Retrobit release the Bluetooth version, Yes.
