The 3DS Resurrection thread

Just got my first 3DS as I managed to find a new 3ds (no xl sadly) on Facebook market place for forty quid which seemed a pretty good price. I got myself Wario Ware and Mario 3D thanks to the bargains thread.

Does it play DS games as I really want to play Elite Beat Agents again.

It's one of the most underrated Nintendo games of recent years. Adored it on Wii U release and equally so on Switch last year.

The DLC was just as good but I don't know if that'll have made it to the 3DS port.

Didn’t realise there was DLC but it didn’t make it to the 3DS which is a shame, but understandable.

Is that Metroid game actually any good? I remember it getting a beating when it was launched and never had a 3DS anyway so didn’t follow into it too much. I just wondered if it was more a hyped disappointment and does still have something going for it even if it isn’t what it could have been.

I'll try to keep this short AF because I'm busy AF:

Just before Christmas we started playing some board games with friends. I couldn't stop thinking about HeroQuest so went to look for a copy. Saw the prices and went "fuck that". Ended up with a kind of modern-day evolved version instead (Descent 2nd Edition). As I'm playing it now it's striking me just how similar pretty much all of the game is to something like Fire Emblem, from everything featured on the world map to the character development down to the fighting calculations and quest conditions. They are basically the same game (with Descent having local team co-op vs. another player acting as the Overlord/DM).

In the end I could have probably just replayed Awakening, but I'm glad I've found a new hobby in board games. In short: If you want a HeroQuest-type experience get Fire Emblem!

Bowsers Inside Story is £11.99 which is a bargain price for one of the best games in the series. I grabbed Metroid Prime Federation Force for £5.99 as well.

Damn this 3DS is working out expensive

In the last week I've bought

Mario 3D Land

Wario Ware Gold

Ridge Racer 3D

Elite Beat Agents

And now Bowsers Inside Story

Cheap gaming soon adds up.

Haha, yep it adds up even when they are cheap. I think I bought and still have all those brand new retail price when they first came out.

Popped home for lunch and spent an hour putting together my HeroQuest (once i had found it!).

Must have got it in 1990, surprisingly i have most of the bits. *wonders if there is a heroquest thread*

Recently bought a 2DS XL as haven't played a 3DS in years and I knew there was a huge amount of games i had missed out on. Oh and the fact a lot if the games can now be picked up cheaply helps.

I do have a question though, I want to give the Professor Layton series a go, where should I start? Worth going straight into the 3DS titles or going back to the DS?

DS. Start at the beginning. Although, the first three games are set after the second set of three.

Definitely start with the DS ones, they all flow together really nicely.

Fired up the 3ds again last night and toured some of my faves. The Switch is truly incredible but damn, do I miss the jolly, characterful Nintendo console interfaces of old. The Wii/U and the 3DS and the SNES Classic strike a sharp contrast against then the uniform dullness of the Switch.
