I love the guy but all those backstage bits with The Rock are pure cringe.

I don’t follow wrestling, I like him in Jumanji, I thought the Harry Potter line was well funny

I think that definitely helps cause any Wrestling fan knows that they didn't happen. He didn't even know about Paige until after seeing a documentary about her.

Wait, you're saying a comedy film isn't entirely true to life?

I know I know, but it's just cringeworthy to see them shoehorning his catchphrases into real life encounters like that.

It looks ok though, I'm interested in seeing it.

I noticed it only got a three star review in Empire. But then so did HTTYD:THW so who knows.

It's strange because it's got a great rotten tomatoes rating.

I'm really looking forward to this, I'd written it off as dogshit but all the good reviews have me intrigued.

I love the Rock, he’s an incredibly charismatic on-screen presence and so funny in Central Intelligence. He really goes all-in on interviews too, charming like Tom Hanks and that’s high praise!

Do want to see this.

Jumanji's the moment he peaked for me. He and Jack Black were absolutely brilliant in that brain in the wrong body role.

He's just so likeable in this. I just realised in my review I didn't even mention him or Vince Vaughan cos there is so much going on but he just feels like a nice person.

The main actress is supposed to be good.

Id seen the old trailer and I didn’t even realise it’s not actually Paige. I thought she was playing herself.

Does this have a Cuck scene with the GOAT Brad Maddox though?

Main actress is fine. Not spectacular. Every review I've read is absolutely gushing on that score, but none of the actors really blew me away

As a film, the package is phenomenal, it's more than the sum of its parts as it is arguably quite flawed

Having seen the documentary the main difference tween Paige real and Paige on screen, ironically, is the real thing is far more sexualised than the fictional version

why?

The past couple of years have been rough on her. Her personal porn videos and naked photos were leaked, she then got a serious injury and was out for ages, at which point she went off the rails a little and lost a load of weight. Her BF at the time was a dick too and not helping the situation. Then she came back to wrestling and got seriously hurt and was forced to retire. Basically her career was cut short in her prime and as someone who lives and breaths the business those are some rough cards she's been dealt.

:( that's sad. Hopefully make enough from this and the renewed interest to make some money and set up right.

That's horrible about the revenge porn stuff. Was that isolated or part of Fappening?

Just someone hacking her iCloud account like is the case with most celebs.

She already has a net worth of a few million through wrestler and she still acts as an on air character too so she'll be fine.

Watched this today and while it was entertaining, it was predictable and pretty much Rocky lite by numbers. The actors were mostly decent and Nick Frost put in an amusing performance.

I can see the added attraction if you are a big WWE fan, but as someone who hasn't checked out WWE since the PS1 Smackdown days I felt like I already knew the story. Certainly not a bad way to kill an hour and three quarters.

Rocky’s not real tho. I don’t follow wrestling and knew zero about the story and of course the events in the movie will have been dramatised but the fact the main elements were true made all the difference for me in terms of enjoyment. Defo admit the movie has many flaws

This is a gem. Surprisingly affecting and gritty in places. The heart of the movie is her relationship with her brother and I was pleased Zak features in it almost as much as Paige. His story would usually be brushed aside in these kind of aspirational movies but the focus on his battle outside the ring was handled beautifully.

I was expecting it to be smaltzsy but there's so much heart and familial pain in this to raise it above predictable shite like Creed 2 that it's a must watch for any sport fans.

And it had Cersei from Game of Thrones in it, looking almost unrecognizable. Bonus.

I think how the script handles the violence within the family is really clever, it doesn’t pander or condone but it doesn’t make it look glam either

I saw this yesterday and while I thought it was generally excellent, I would have preferred to have seem more of her family as they were all just so darn funny.

Also I feel it was one of those films that would have been even funnier if it had a 15 rating instead of a 12A.

Watched this tonight and really enjoyed it. A nice little story and some good performances. Never really seen The Rock in wrestling or films but thought he was great fun.
