Rise of Skywalker is far from perfect and was a bit of a botch job script-wise, but worse than Attack of the Clones??  Absolutely no chance.

The sequel trilogy wasn't as good as I had hoped for but I'm pleased that the TV stuff on Disney + has been so much better and reignited the hope I had for Star Wars when Disney first got hold of it.

its literally 4 fetch quests. Maybe 5. It’s a terrible film.

attack of the clones moves the story along at least…..

Rogue One was excellent,  Solo had it’s moments but was largely pointless.  I have some fondness for The Force Awakens for bringing Star Wars back without totally shitting the bed.  I struggle to find any redeeming features at all about either TLJ or ROS both of which I hate.

I think those two could well have been franchise killers, if Mando had not pulled it back from the brink.

So Rian Johnson has caused a bit of a stir by stating he's proud, no prouder of The Last Jedi five years on which has created the sort of reaction among true Star Wars fans usually reserved for the latest No Man's Sky update.

It's led to renewed speculation about the cancelled trilogy.

In an interview with Empire, Johnson revealed that the project is still in the works, but is currently on the back burner. "I’ve stayed close to Kathleen [Kennedy] and we get together often and talk about it," he said. "It’s just at this point a matter of schedule and when it can happen. It would break my heart if I were finished, if I couldn’t get back in that sandbox at some point." Johnson previously directed 2017's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth episode in The Skywalker Saga.

Ah! Not to worry all. This seems to confirm that it's still not happening and isn't likely to.
