One more 2nd place and a few thirds. So nearly had the guy at the bottom. I didn’t even notice his screen was flashing red till after.

I am starting to feel I’m never gonna win as I’m not a god tier player but guess I just have to crack on.

I noticed today that I seemed to be getting massively targeted in games getting hammered by multiple lines of junk really early on. Much more so than yesterday. Causing me to get knocked out in the first 20.

Using the Joycons is definitely superior to the Pro controller, I got a third place and I can often get into the top 20s and 30s. It's just too fast for me though I think, my brain can't cope as it speeds up!

As an experiment I started the game and didn't touch anything - I came 67th, which is better than a lot of games where I've been trying!

Also, what an amazing game for a freebie.

I keep seeing little moans about the UI and being a bit rough around the edges.

This is gets it right in the most important areas. The core mechanics and making sure you are into games as quickly as possible.

Add some licks of paint later, along with those new modes!

Still can't improve on 7th, which I've now managed to hit 4 or 5 times. I can deal with the speed, just, but I always seem to get rapidly junk-spammed at the point it hits top 10. Think I need to start practicing single-player again, get my groove back, because I know I'm better than this!

Time to retire undefeated.

Its all messed up now. Finishing top 10 generally but gets a bit wild in top 5. Still don’t fully understand a strategy for using the sticks for sending to the right people.

So much fun

I am going to need a second Switch soon. Had to give it up today for my son to play his games. :(

That and I need to catch up with work too.

This HAS to be next from Nintendo... It is ripe and ready for a return.

On my first go on launch night I came thirtysomethingth place. I have played a few times tonight and I've come no better than 90th.  I presume this is because I'm playing it the way I normally play single player Tetris - clearing single lines as soon as possible and trying to keep the wall as close to the bottom as possible. I have no idea how to attack or defend in this. I had a quick look at the tips in the OP and noped straight out. I had no idea Tetris had all these crazy rules!

Wait until you realise it also depends on what Tetris you play

There are different rulesets for one and different rotation systems.

Some versions have a 7 bag  random generator, whereas Tetris on the NES has a completely random generator. I suppose it is like the difference between Rudby Union and Rugby League, in some ways.

I think I need to play a few games with the sole intention of practicing t-spins instead of getting caught up in playing properly. It’s something I never even considered before this.

Hopefully that will bump my game up a bit. I’m generally top 20,  top 10 quite often. With one second place being my best so far.
