I won a game! I don't quite understand everything that's going on but my, how things have come a long way since I used to play original Gameboy Tetris head to head with a link lead in my lunchbreak. Brilliant freebie and the perfect way for them to entice more online subscribers to the service.

I didn't think I'd ever get the Nintendo Online sub - I don't get much gaming time, nevermind with other players online, and the NES stuff has been so so for me. But on a whim, and some initial good feedback on this, I grabbed us all a family sub. It's so good, even if I have no idea what I'm doing and am treating it like the old Gameboy game.

 

Much, much more of this sort of quirky you vs many games, please. Kind reminds me of 100 to 1 on the 360, which we'd all used to sit around the telly to play.

Wow, that is a fantastic post, really explains how this works. Didn't realise it had a loot system, the mechanics behind that are excellent. 

 

So when I get 4-5 people targeting me early, I can quickly prepare some lines, get a Tetris + Some combos going and really do some return damage, whilst picking up their badge bits.

Third place seems to be my top tier, I’m getting a load of third and fourth places now and this is just so much fun! Slightly different timing on the rotating to effect but getting in the grove now.

 

I can’t believe GOTY 2019 has been released so early in the year :wub:

Welcome to my house Battle Royalers (is that what they're called?) 

 

Took me much less time to get to a win and unlike in a Fortnite or similar, I wasn't panicking at the end, I knew exactly what I needed to do to win 1v1. Kept knocking back my opponents garbage, whilst setting the platform for an attack and then getting into a position where their garbage actually gave me the attack back. Felt good when that signal I had won hit!

I am obviously not @Jonster levels, but this is definitely my BR.

He is like Barcelona, you are Spurs, I am Leeds*... I think that works. 

 

*I am good enough on my day, but will never be challenging for top honours. You on the other hand.... 

 

Wumbo does all the things I can do, but at such an incredible speed. I know how to set up a T-Spin and execute it, but a lot of thought goes into it. He sets them up to fucking chain.

You can get by enough just knowing how to do a Tetris. T-Spin singles and even doubles soon come naturally, when you spot an opportunity. Actually dropping the piece in is simple, just setting up takes some practice.

Haha, this is excellent! Just got myself a 3rd, hilariously tense towards the end. 

 

My only criticism is that it's out off the back of me having already just played a fuckload of Tetris. But (very) mild fatigue aside I can see myself popping in for a go here and there as long as the player numbers hold up.

It's when you rotate the T shape to fit a gap it wouldn't normally slot into by just dropping it straight down.

The most basic one... you set up like in this image....

Then as the T-Piece comes down in this position, you rotate it at the end to pop into the gap.

I wouldn't be able to correct you if it didn't work!

 

Just had a few quick games, on a two win streak currently, but I've lost a load so now my win rate is under 50%. Looking forward to jumping back on later, might stream it so people can call me names.
