Cloudy-Cloudy Panic!

I can't tell if this is a clever idea or an abomination, do let me know! It's definitely a button masher.
I've tried to use the music and general layout to give it the feel of an old arcade game. I'm curious to know if the 3rd section feels unnecessary, as I was originally going to finish the level where the 2nd checkpoint is.

The Rainbow Box
SHN-BB0-LKG

Eye catching thumbnail : Check

Impossible to die: Check

Snazzy sounds and effects: Check

Complete in about 15 seconds: Check

I'll be honest, this is a fairly shameless attempt to make something that will stick in the charts! ;) It did take me a few hours to make though, and hopefully it's a fun 15 seconds.

I just kind of threw this one together for this week's Nintendo UK contest, the theme is the new powerups in 3D World style. I think I may have made it too difficult... For an extra challenge try and get all 3 50 coins, it is doable but the timing is very tight!

I’ve just got this recently, what an amazing piece of software. I've only made two courses so far and they are very basic, but it’s so satisfying making them and then watching other people play, noting mistakes etc.

Is there a list of courses forum folks have made anywhere, if not feel free to throw any my way and I’ll try them :)

My son has been putting a lot of work into this recently. He's made a really inventive, Pokemon-themed level.

Basically, you catch (kill) Pokemon (baddies) with your pokeball (fireball). Once you've caught one, you get a key and go into the next room.

In the next room, you enter a battle. You see the Pokemon you caught in the previous room, in a chamber where it can't kill you, and a separate chamber with a different Pokemon (baddie). You have to defeat that baddie with POW blocks or other triggers.

Once you've defeated that baddie, you get another key, and go into another room. Again, you see your companion Pokemon in an isolated chamber. But this time, you have a POW block to make it drop out of the screen. This then triggers a bigger version of it to appear. Hey presto, this is your Pokemon evolving!

You then go on to face a gym leader.

I'm really impressed at the thought he's put into the concept, and the hours he's poured into the mechanics (there's one last niggle he is wrestling with where defeating the last Pokemon is a bit of a gamble).

Does anyone know if there's a feature to put on-screen instructions in the game? Obviously the level needs a lot of explanation, to tell you what to do, but it's the kind of thing I'd imagine a lot of people enjoying if I let him upload it, purely for the concept.

If anyone has finished their Sunday crossword and is looking for something taxing to keep themselves occupied, Bear24's Super World is made up of short, single solution one screen puzzles, and it's brilliant! I'm still working my way through World 5. Some of the puzzles are simple, some of them are a bit more complicated, but there's nothing there you can't eventually figure out by trying things and eliminating all the possibilities.

I've also decided to put together some good Endless runs. I stopped when I got to 1000 levels with 99 lives on Normal and now I'm going for Expert. Not sure how successful I'll be getting double figures in Super Expert.

Back with my first new level in almost a year!
Fever Dream
YWH-DRC-MBG
Don't know why, I just fancied getting back into making! This is a bit of an odd one... Short challenges with a custom soundtrack. Moderate difficulty I hope, give it a go!

Another new one, might be the last one for a while though once Monster Hunter comes out!
Poison Pipe Scramble
FKV-4S3-BKF

This is a fairly hard fast-moving platformer with blue lifts and thwomps. It was quite nice to make something straightforward without some specific gimmick! Try and get all 6 big coins in one run for an extra challenge.

Guys I made a level that has a couple of bits that flat out don’t make sense looking back on it. I’ve already uploaded it, is there a way of tweaking and reuploading? The option’s greyed out in course maker!

No. I'd just delete and reupload.

After playing so many levels of such wildly varying quality I was feeling rather burned out on 2D Mario, but I came back to SMM2 to try this and find it rather pleasant.  Not too hard (so far) good level design and inventive uses of the mechanics and even some secrets that aren't to hard to find and give tells as to their presence.  This really feels like something that has been playtested to be enjoyable and pleasant to play, much like Nintendo did when they were making 2D Mario.

Yeah I'm enjoying the super mario bros 5 super world.

I've completed the first five worlds.

Mostly enjoyable and a little on the easy side but I had a soft lock on one of the levels (an early airship level) and a world 5 level required me to sacrifice mario to continue.

The world 5 ghost House boss just wasn't fun.

I do think from world 4 it relies too much on gimmicks which goes against " this is what nintendo would have created". I'm hopeful it goes back to  traditional style for the remainder of the world's though.

Can you save your progress playing this, or do you have to one-and-done it?

Super Worlds have a feature where you can exit and resume later, indicated by a red ‘M’ balloon.  Go to your Course World screen and all the paused games will listed under that icon on the far right.  I’m not sure how many you can have at a time however.

Funny thing about this game is that I've got it and had it since Xmas but I haven't got round to playing it.  But it seems like the game of my dreams!  I really must get round to "playing" it.

Am I correct in that I have to have created a course, then complete it before I can upload it?  Who can play the course, just Super Mario Maker 2 players, or anyone?
