Attachments really help too guys, I find the acog sites to be much better than the holo's but barrels and stocks really help too. I've played a lot and I'm starting to get to grips with the guns now though I'm no good with the snipers. I prefer the smg's and ar's and the wingman pistol.

This is one of the few games I've played where I actually do better with a sniper rifle.

Kudos to all you fine folk playing this on console btw, that shit looks hard! I wouldn't be able to string two kills together, let alone get a win lol. I think the days of me being anywhere decent at console shooters are over hehe. It's weird because I was really good at CoD4 and its sequel on 360 but after switching over to PC for all my multiplayer shenanigans all my controller skills have left my body. I tried out CoD WWII on PS4 and got absolutely demolished haha.

Played all last night and damn I'm bad at this game esp. in 1v1 up close scenarios. Part of it is my lack of Battle Royale experience (giving away my position, going on suicidal flanks, having crap loot etc), but the other part is slow reaction times and bad aim. What I am good at though is getting on aggressive flanks, taking people by surprise, and using tactics. So I started using Pathfinder (the robot) and his grapple really suits my playstyle. I found out I'm quite good with shotties and the revolver so that might be my go-to playstyle at the moment. I'm finding I am very hit or miss, if I play 10 games, 7 games I'll do terribly, 3 games I'll go on a rampage.

I wish the game did a better job of filling empty player slots, I had quite a lot of games where there were just 2 of us in the character selection screen. On the other hand those were some of the best games I had, because you stick together like glue and watch each other's back.

To try and fix my aim a bit I've been playing with the sensitivity options on PS4. I've bumped up regular look to 5 (Very High) and kept ADS at 3 (default). This is really helping to survey your surroundings whilst running around and doing more wild movement. But I think it's making it hard to zero in on targets as you often "overshoot" them before you ADS in on them.

I still keep forgetting about using my character abilities on heroes like Bloodhound and Bangalore, maybe I should just stick to one hero for now to drill it into my skull.

More and more people have realised you can usually land on the supply ship at the start so if you want to have a mad fight from the off just head there. Though most often you will miss it by inches or only one of your squad makes it on board whilst the rest fall ignominiously to the field below! Last night I had a game where the jumpmaster screwed up the landing on the supply ship, I just made it on board with about 6 enemies, so I just grabbed the closest weapon and gear and immediately jumped off. Free loot!

The triple barrel shotgun pistol is quite good, it turns out - give it a try.

On PS4 I get connection errors all the time inbetween matches, and sometimes matchmaking just stops working and you have to restart the game. I've also had a few crashes. Anyone else getting the same?

Top tip I found out from a streamer vid - you can push Lifeline's healing bot (slowly), if you've put it somewhere a bit shit by accident.

After 2 nights of play I think the balance of the map size, design and number of players is pretty spot on. The only caveat to that is that despite how action packed this game is, you still get matches where you don't run into anyone until 10 minutes into the game. Though I guess I could actively use balloons etc to try and find enemies, good luck getting your randoms to join you on that adventure though! But in general I much prefer the faster, more compact pacing of this Battle Royale and the fluidity of the movement in it. I get that the survival aspect in PUBG/Fornite is thrilling, but I find that more frustrating and boring most of the time than actually fun. And that's what Apex is, really good fun (most of the time).

I prefer this over Fortnite simply because there's no building. There's a lot about Fortnite I love, not least the aesthetic and cosmetic side of it because I'm a horrible whore for meaningless shit like that, but I stopped playing because the building skill required makes it pointless for me to play.

I never got into fortnite due to the building, I just didn’t get on with it.

Yes, I've had this quite a few times on my OG PS4, hopefully a new patch or server update can resolve this.

Had a couple of cool games with afternoon over lunch, loving this game as its own beast :) Granted, various influences from Borderlands and Overwatch make it extra appealing to me. (Never played Titanfall.)

Still getting to grips with the various characters and their abilities, not to mention the many combinations of armaments. But having a lot of fun in the process, getting the occasional sweet kill.

Would love to spend more time in rllmuk squads so feel free to add me on PS4! PSN = Joe_McSpeed

OK, glad its not just me. Sometimes when the game boots up it won't connect to the servers even after multiple attempts, I found usually restarting the game fixes it. And sometimes when I get the connection error after a match it won't reconnect either. Thankfully I've only crashed in-game once (a full on hang where I couldn't even use the PS controller button), but I have seen squadmates vanish midgame a few times - and I know at least one of those was a crash because I knew the guy.

That aside, technically I think this game is great - it's so fast to load, so quick to get from match to match. There's no downtime, in about 1 minute after losing a match  you can be dropping from the ship in the next one.

Question: Is there any way on PS4 to see the PSN profiles of players in your team, during or after a match? I've met a few good or friendly players I wanted to add as a friend, but couldn't find a way to add them aside from try to remember their names and type it into PSN search. Apex doesn't appear in PSN's "Players Met" list either.

I'd also love an Overwatch style "stay as team" option after a match, so you can stay in a party with your new random buddies for a few matches in a row.

Yeah nah just stick to the Peacekeeper and watch people cower in fear as they have to reload while you just keep the pellets coming. :)

Even better when you ADS as after a slight charge-up the spread will tighten, making it possible to basically do one-shots.

Yeah I've had all of this as well. Also often when I bring my Pro out of Rest mode the game doesn't update my friends list with who's online and it needs a refresh.

The fact my biggest problems with this week-one battle royale are the front end says a lot about what an achievement this is. That said, I sorta agree about the gunplay – what I'm most struggling with is knowing when, or whether, someone is nearly dead and therefore should be pushed or whatnot. And given that the damage numbers actually get in the way most of the time, I might just turn them off.

Agree that it's as much about mods and attachments as the guns themselves. I had a game at lunchtime where I had a longbow with a purple in every attachment slot and it made a big, big difference (i.e. it actually felt like a sniper rifle).

Likewise. This may sound completely ridiculous to well-rounded people, but I do get exceptionally anxious in team based games at the start when I feel like I don't know what I'm doing.  A solo mode at least gives me a chance to for some private embarrassment before I look like a total idiot in front of a crowd.

As such, the lack of solo is putting me off trying this. 'Oh no!', Respawn exclaim as the player count rockets upwards.

In a game like this I find it's the opposite. These games are very intimidating by yourself. With two others and this game's genuinely brilliant communication/tagging system designed specifically for players who don't play in groups much it feels much more welcoming

I'm torn between two camps, my longest matches have been when one of the group has a much higher level and loads of kills as their chosen Legend, it's great following them and trying to learn the game that way. But it's also been great fun on the rare occasion that I've been grouped with people as low ranked as myself (I think I hit 7 today) and we've managed to survive a little while and gotten into gunfights as even when you don't succeed you feel like you're actually doing something

Wow, that ring does massive amounts of damage the last round. I thought I was alright hiding behind a tree when there were less than a handful of us left and one of us was hiding in a small cabin and to move in together with the moving shield and catch the enemy by surprise. Alas, the damage caught me by surprise and I died a silly lonesome death :seanr:

Fifth win just now.  Thought I'd fucked it right at the end by getting downed, but got revived and ran round the back of their hiding spot to punch a few holes in them with a sniper rifle at point blank range, right at the moment my other teammate called an airstrike in on them.

Seemed to do the trick.
