The swines would have to use a different HDR standard to Netflix, wouldn't they....I can watch Netflix HDR content with no problem but my 4K TV can't pick up Amazon's HDR encode..

It's standard HDR, which is compatible with everything. Just make sure it's actually the 4K stream you're viewing, as as this thread shows, it's been a cunt to find for some people.

I watched half of it in 4K, from the title screen. Went back to continue it and it was in HD only. Had to search for the 4K version. Amazon's interface is woeful.

If I find the 4K version of a show, I immediately add it to my watchlist, because finding it again can be so hit and miss.

Oh I was watching the 4K stream for every episode but with Amazon HDR streams the 'HDR Signal' notification that comes up on my TV screen with Netflix streaming, will not activate with Amazon.

I think Amazon only stream in Dolby Vision HDR rather than Netflix's HDR10 standard.

Amazon don't use Dolby Vision.

Even if they did, like Netflix, it would simply show as HDR10 on non-DV compatible TVs.

Well, whatever HDR standard they're broadcasting in, it doesn't work on my TV...unlike Netflix.

I tried streaming a few things in 4k on Amazon and none get beyond 1080 HD. This is despite an ok connection and YouTube/Netflix streaming 4k fine

Were you definitely streaming the 4K versions? You need to search for them separately as it the geniuses at Amazon have them listed separately from the HD versions.

This is brilliant - my other half started watching it this evening after dinner while I was playing something and I slowly found myself getting drawn into it, so by episode 3 I was all in.

Karl Urban sounds like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins

I think this is what first started to grab my attention. Like a car crash, I couldn’t look away once he opened his mouth and that weird accent started coming out. Strangely hypnotic.

Blasted through this, and it was amazing! Haven't read the comics and I went in knowing almost nothing about it, no trailers even which I'm really glad about. Having just gone back and watched a couple of them they spoil a some amazing moments. I was totally shocked by the first A Train moment, blindsided me completely. Loved it.

What were the flies about? Set up for something later?

Apparently in the comics...

Spoiler

There’s a supe that can turn into a fly... called swatto or something

Every 30 seconds or so when watching an Amazon 4k stream the sound drops out. It's for a split second but it's getting annoying. May switch back to 1080P.

Anyway, just finished ep 5 and it's just brilliant!! Even the missus is enjoying it.

Halfway through and I am absolutely fucking loving this, particularly how much of a bastard Homelander is. Karl Urban's accent is one for the ages, it's inspired. He must know what he's doing, there's no way he thinks it's anything other than ridiculous.

Mine seems to alternate between 480p and 4k half the time , also really annoying. One minute they look like morph next minute you can see the pores on their skin.

That's my take on his accent too. It's phenomenally entertaining, I love it.

I really don't have a problem with Urban's accent. It was doing my head in wondering where I'd heard him do that accent before. Of course, he's Skurge, we fought together at Vanheim. ;)

What's really bad is Pegg's accent.

I've just finished Episode 5, this is fucking great.

Spoiler

From ep. 4 - The spice girls speech.

"What if she's a spice girl?"

Just finished the series . Overall very good but tailed off a bit towards the end .

Anthony Starr is great in this . Karl urban has the most variable cockney accent since Charlie Hunnam in Green Street , but the character is very good .

I was just about the ask the same thing.

*edit* I see it's been answered above.

Someone I know says hes read that it means nothing and it was just

Spoiler

flies getting in the way during filming. I'm calling bs on that though because they're too prominent and noisey to be nothing. If it was just files being flies, that's some pretty shit post production work.

I think it looks excellent in 4k HDR, some of the best I've seen from a streaming service, also I love this show it's completely brilliant.

Don't know how far ahead you are but in Episode 8

Spoiler

the bit where Starlight fights A-Train looked phenomenal on my TV, especially the shots of her.

'Oi! Don't you be comin' in 'ere baad maavin' ol' Karl. His cock-er-ney accent is chim-chimerney-tastic me ol' mucker.

He went to the Dick van Dyke school of language for this! Left after one class.

Absolutely. I just watched episode 5 and Homelander somehow manages to crank up the weirdness even higher. A real sense of danger seems to surround him, which really helps in a bad guy.
