I finally saw credits today. Took 10 clears, not sure if this is always the case or it can be done in fewer clears. I had nearly 40 attempts. It has been a while since I like anything this much. I actually think the dialogue is kind of bad. But there is so much of it. And the voice acting is unbelievable. I just enjoy hearing people talk in this game. There’s just something about sound design in the voices. It is pleasing to hear people speak. I can’t quite tell why. I keep accepting things from my children or wife “in the name of hades!”. They don’t get the joke.

Took me 45 attempts before I finally escaped! I would have done it sooner but for some reason I thought Death Defiance maxed out at one resurrection so had been use the other aspect of once per room.  Wasn’t until I reset all my Darkness that I released my mistake.

I struggle to understand the point of the death defiance alternative. Who would ever?

It's quite useful when you're still learning the game as it regenerates once per encounter, so if you die quite often to regular enemies, like in Elysium, it can save your bacon and then replenish in the next room, unlike the standard DD. By the time you're hitting redacted regularly, however, and you're likely to die more than once per encounter, it loses its benefits.

I am so glad I didn’t play this until now. Ps5 version on my oled has been incredible. I ended up buying it on the switch and that would have been a shame to play it that way. Still good but not perfect like this version.

The way the game and everyone uses redacted for the final boss tickles me. Like, wow, who could that be?

EDIT: Just googled and found that even in game the dialogue has a little fun with this, and actually has a 'in lore' explanation. Cool touch!

Any tips on how to stop playing this game?

I've managed to escape 3 times (from about 41 runs I think) and the game is still revealing new stuff. I found I could 'borrow' from Charon tonight. That didn't go well....

Do nearly everything in the game worked for me.

There was a point where if I lost a couple of death defiances anywhere the run was toast as soon as I met redacted, but I am on a 13 win run and the most I have lost is one life.

The thinking seems to be it regains advantages on high heat, where normal encounters can become a lot more deadly whereas the bosses will have patterns extremely well known to you.

I'm certainly not done with this, but I'm not exactly gagging to play after my first escape. I did it with spear, focusing on upgrading my special, but it felt weak towards the end. Any tips for what to focus on next?

Started playing this again on Xbox having done so on Switch. Never completed it last time although got to the final world a few times.

Turned on God Mode just to take the edge off. Got through the first boss after about 4 runs and on my 11th or this morning just smashed through the second for the first time and then all the way through the third and into the forth. Only picked it up for a quick run but was nice and methodical and just destroying everything. Then panicked as usual with the new stuff and died quickly.

It's just such great compulsive gaming

I don't classify what you do in Hades as grinding at all tbh.

I don't particularly like roguelikes and love this. It rarely feels like a grind as there is a lot of variety between weapon and boon combinations that make most playthroughs feel quite different.

I agree with @cassidy that this is not really grinding. You are not really repeating they same thing at all. Each run is very different. It is essentially playing a shorter Diablo from beginning to end 30-50 times running different random builds. The story progresses on subsequent attempts. After around 60 runs I have not really seen any repeated lines. You don’t really grind as you loose almost all after each run. You only improve very marginally from run to run but the little improvements build up over time.

Slowly but surely getting the 1000g achievement points. Although I swear the greater call acievement (use a gods call on themselves) is glitched as I have done it on elysium (using regen baddies to get it up) a number of times.

I swear having this game on quick resume is just amazing.

I can complete a run in about 20 mins no issues right now (unless I'm using arrows or rail) and just jumping in and out for a quick game.

For the call trophy, it has to be a greater call (full bar) to trigger. Its a bit tricky as the fights often don't last long enough to get a full bar, but I did it in elysium by letting one of the enemies regenerate continuously (guy with a bow).

They may have fixed it in the interim but worth noting that achievements popping in Hades can be screwed up if you're using quick resume. Some seem to work OK but some don't and require a fresh restart for them to trigger, so that's possibly why you're not getting ones you feel like you should.

And reached the final boss on run 15. Didn’t finish the first phase but nice to see progress.

I really really appreciate the way god mode works. I’m not someone who is ever going to play the 40-50+ full runs it would take me to be good enough to get a clear. But being able to do so without being penalised in terms of achievements and whatever is lovely.

My bad, I skim read it 😊

I'm up to 60 runs now, and the last 25 or so have all been clears. Still have a shit tonne left to unlock and had the horrible realisation that I'd been wasting loads of nectar trading for diamonds 😖

What were you using the diamonds for?
