Sonic Heroes

I'm not too sure.

On paper it seemed a great idea, take out all the boring bits of 'Adventure 2 and leave in only the adrenaline-pumping speed sections, but with a team-dynamic twist...

In reality though, after a few hours play it seems a bit, well, samey  there's not enough variation apparent tbh, and thats just after playing 38% of Team Sonic's game. Including all the other teams, that'll be another 362% of playtime, and if it's all like this I'm not sure how its going to keep from getting boring.

Here's hoping it gets better the more its played. I really want to love it, I really do - Sonic Adventure is one of my favourite games of all time.

Maybe that's the ultimate reason I might never like Heroes though... I personally thought the adventure sections in SA1, coupled with the various character styles, gave it better balance. HAVE Sega made the right decision removing these much-criticised-but-well-paced "other" styles? or is Heroes a one trick Pony?

Feedback here, if and when forumites start buying the game.

Well, I've completed all the different teams levels, and I'm currently going back to get all the A's.

It's a good game, but these things are annoying:

There is very little need for the flying characters, as the others can jump over the flying sections most of the time.

Most of the levels seem to float in mid-air, so there are a lot of "falling off the edge" sudden deaths.

Some of the levels seem cobbled together, and aren't nearly as "complete" feeling as those found in the Adventure games.

The Chaotix levels are more dull than 16:02hrs on a rainy Sunday.

Cream's voice, Tails' voice, Big's voice...

Ive only played heroes team, but it is bad, the levels are no where near as nice as those in SA1/2 which were actually brilliant most of the time. Im guessing because in them there was very little jumping unless it was a totally ground based level, and seeing as all these levels are in the air floating you die a lot, especially when sonic flys off or does a spin attack cos you pushed a button just slightly or you pick one the other characters whos just on the egde and falls in. Terrible, and i loved sA1/2 as well.

Why I oughta...

*waves fist*

:(

Each to their own, eh

That's very noble of you!

Nope, as much as SEGA have provided gems here and there, I do find myself opening their newest games with a little nervous trepadation.....

Obviously, that's just me. I've not seen anyone else mention SEGA's run of duffers recently.

Does anyone think they made the generational leap from 2D to 3D as well as others did? (Monkey Ball, PSO aside, obv.)

I bought Space Channel 5 : Special Edition the other day. Sega's two BEST EVER games on one PS2 disc. Heaven.

You ought to complain about your purchase, in my opinion: as great as the games are, a game containing Samba de Amigo and Chu Chu Rocket! but selling itself as Space Channel 5 is guilty of false advertising.

I don't think there's any need to use this, but you never know...

I'd argue they did pretty well on the DC (bar the two Sonic Adventure efforts), but since going third party they haven't been anywhere near as good as their former selves.

Recently I've started to fear that Sega or on a long road to medicore, killing their hardware interest may just have killed the great gameplay bar the odd good game.

Well, I'm a little bit cautious in adding my voice to a Sega backlash, but I have to say that SMB excepted, the Edge cover that went "Dreamcast dead...Sega Unstoppable" seems to be a terribe prediction. For a developer of their size and past record they are punching well below their weight. What happened to you, Sega?

monkey ball, f-zero gx, shenmue1&2, sonic adventure1&2,skies of arcadia, ecco.

All imo great stuff from sega this generation. They at least take more risks then Nintendo are currently.

As for Sonic Heroes, I'll wait till I get it before I judge.

Really?

Isn't it a dodgey port?

Not that I noticed.

The camera is shit yes. But that was in the original too. People keep moaning about the framerate but I'm not too sure how "framerate" problems work exactly. Plays exactly the same to me, and thats all that matters.

The 60 extra missions and 12 GG games added in is a real bonus mind.

Which reminds me to finish it off....only had 3 or so missions left. All 130 emblems gotten though.
