Who here doesn't care about the Switch and why?

I have a Switch and I don't regret it, but it has been gathering dust since finishing Odyssey. I don't play games in handheld mode so I have zero interest in any of the multiplatform stuff - all those games look better and are cheaper on rival platforms. I've never cared for the Smash or Tennis series, so at the moment I'm waiting until Prime 4 to fire up the Switch again.

Since finishing Zelda and Mario I’ve not really touched mine, I’ve pretty much given it to my son now. He doesn’t really play it much since he finished Mario either to be fair.

I used to be big on portable systems but I have more time to be in front of the TV these days and there are just so many games coming out on PS4 that I just can’t keep up with.

Also having a hacked Vita means I can play a huge library of classics if I’m travelling, which is bad news for my Switch.

Switch sadly just doesn’t have the games to be the system I play on a regular basis.

If the Switch got games like the other platforms did I’m sure it would be different.

See you in 2020! :bye:

(I take it you're also one of the three Wii U owners?)

Yes and my Wii U is still hooked up even!

So is mine! My wife and I still give it a spin once in a while. New Super Mario Bros U for instant collaborative joy/hatred...

Having all the good games on that console is one reason for my lack of interest in the Switch, along with already owning lots of indie stuff on PC (as others have said.) The only other game I'm personally at all interested in on the Switch is Odyssey, and I love Mario games that much that I almost bought a Switch for the game recently, until I got Tetris Effect on the PS4 which has taken over life.

If they happen to release a new version of the hardware somewhere much further down the line when some more big new titles have come out or if it gets really discounted I might get one. I work from home and if work needs getting to I need to drive to take gear, so the portable thing isn't relevant to me - but I can totally see the appeal of it for others. I can imagine rinsing BotW on the train being a beautiful experience. I keep checking the games coming out on it to see if I find an excuse to buy one, but as of yet nothing seems to be supplying that excuse.

Year 2 has been somewhat lacking. The first game of the year ill be buying is smash bros, and even then i was half unsure whether to bother.

The problem with the switch is that nintendo have not exactly treated their core fans well - if the fans bought the wii u, then why release all the games we have already played? sure dont get me wrong - donkey kong, mario bros wii u, bayanetta 2 etc are all good games but it would have been better to have new games.

Also, i dont have an issue with ports but at least have a stream of new games too.

Never been interested in it (or any Nintendo console - even when my brother had a SNES I only really played Link to the Past on it). None of the Nintendo franchises do anything for me and I have zero desire to play as a handheld - so it's an easy decision to ignore.

I don't have any other current gen consoles either, though at least they have games I'm interested in. To be honest, my PC caters to most of my whims and with such limited time to play things anyway I don't see that changing any time soon.

Not really that interested, but I feel I will have to picked one up to cover some of the games on it. That said I won't pick up one, until the leaked Switch 2 releases.

Now that the hype has died down, the third party support seems to be dropping off again. The Wii U ports seem a quick way for Nintendo A to release games and B to recoup development cost as I'm not sure how many of the later titles turned a profit. Concerningly it does look like the Switch may have already peaked and it could end up turning into a Wii U again. I really like the Wii U and do keep it hooked up, but it just suffered from a catalogue of errors by Nintendo. The lack of new Switch only game is a big problem.

I'm still bitter over the Wii U, it's been one of my favourite consoles, only hampered by the incompetence of Nintendo's marketing department. The Switch is in a strange position for me - not powerful enough to take over from my Xbox, not cheap enough to take over from my 3DS.

Mine too mostly for my son to make impossible courses for me to fail on Super Mario Maker but also for Wii stuff.

I have a Switch too, I got aboard the Mario Odyssey hype train, it's a great system but just don't seem to play it much. Not sure why.

I like the concept and the hardware itself looks great, but as somebody who is largely interested in single player action games, the Switch just isn't home to the sorts of games I want to play.

I'll probably end up buying one when Bayonetta 3 drops, but I've no idea what other games I'd be bringing home with it. Some of the indie stuff (like the new Toki release) look interesting, but the other platforms are already so strong with indie releases, that aside from the convenience of being able to play them in mobile form, I do struggle to think of reasons to buy one, especially when I've got more games than I have time for with my PS4 and Xbox.

I still think Nintendo should just purchase Platinum and have done with it. They would deliver a steady stream of exclusive, quality action games, which is a genre they don't really cater for right now and would give peeps like me a real reason to be excited to own a new Nintendo console.

Although I will add that my five year old daughter might get a huge kick out of the cardboard stuff, so it might make a great first console for her in a year or so and then I can "borrow" it for Bayonetta 3. :)

I’ve tried to love the Switch and Nintendo like I used to but the droughts are killer and in my heart I just wish they still did some wackyish sports games (and I don’t even do Sports games on other systems), but they sprinkled magical fairy dust all over 1080/Waverace/Pilotwings and I miss that stuff painfully.

I wanted to feel excited about the big Switch titles but it just didn't happen, I'm too much of a retrogamer and can't justify buying one just for the Sega M2 remasters and random arcade gems like Night Slashers. I might get one when the Switch is on its last legs or properly EOL.

Investing in a MiSTer setup or the prospect of playing through SA-1 Mario World romhacks via an SD2SNES is more exciting to me than what modern consoles can offer.

I am somewhat interested in it, but I wish it had more handheld-style games - I loved the DS and 3DS but haven't enjoyed Nintendo's home systems since the Gamecube.  Maybe I am missing something but few of the games seem like the sort of thing I enjoyed on the DSes.

And if it was a lot cheaper. At the moment it would be kind of like an ultra-expensive Vita replacement for me.

I don't care. Nintendo style games are okay, but I'm not spending a few hundred quid for something I touch three or four times a year. Ps4 and PC are more than enough for me.  And why should I pay 30 quid for Diablo Switch when I can get for 10 on PS4?

Yeah I've also been put off by the drought this year, picking one up was looking like a sure thing after the hype of that first release, and it's been really disappointing to see third parties in particular just fucking re-releasing everything old rather than y'know, making some new games.

Bought my Switch at launch with Zelda and loved it (still yet to finish with all 4 beasts beaten), got Mario which was great but was happy to finish it with no desire to return.  Then it became my go to Rocket league machine and loved playing that on the sofa but then paid online happened and it’s killed my interest dead in the Switch.  I just could not bring myself to paying for the online service.  I’m more than happy to play Rocket league on Pc which is a superior experience anyway.

My primary games machine is my PC so indie games are pennies and I would of been happy to double dip on a few indie games but some of the prices of Switch games is a turn off and I’ve saved fortunes.

Also some of the more demanding games will never appear on the Switch except perhaps via the cloud service which I hate in gaming. So my Switch is gathering dust sadly :(
