Who here doesn't care about the Switch and why?

  Basically this is the let’s chat about why you don’t feel the switch is for you but be careful about what you say because the Ninty fanboys are lurking and will feel that you’ve just taken a hot steamy turd on their patch if you mention ‘Switch’ and ‘don’t like’ in the same sentence.

Well to be fair the Switch is a great machine and you'd have to have a steamy turd for a brain if you didn't like it. This year's Nintendo made titles have been a bit lacklustre though.

Possibly...

 I guess no one should assume that the Switch will sell gang busters month on month or year on year.  Also quite a few of the more demanding games will not come to Switch going forwards which potentially less third party support which has been an issue on previous Nintendo machines.

total sales are up overall and since Pokemon, have skyrocketed.

Now we come full circle, I'll take your word for it this is the case but Pokemon alone will not mean sales will 'skyrocket' indefinitely.  To keep the momentum (dirty word for you i know) they will need to ensure they get a healthy amount of other decent Nintendo IP.  Hardware refreshes is the perfect way to boost sales which I think they will do as soon as they see fit.

This really is a curious topic - the Switch has two unique selling points -

1) Its a fully portable machine that can play current gen games without too many compromises - so I can play Doom, Diablo 3, Wolfenstein 2, Warframe, Paladins, South Park, Crash and of course a whole host of indie games (Celeste, Gungeon, Hollow Knight), and some ports (Okami, Bayonetta 2, Captain Toad, Donkey Kong)  on my sofa whilst the wife watches shit TV, in bed, on the toilet, and well anywhere I want (the WiiU couldn't do that - its range was basically the length of my lounge).  2018 has been a good year for this user case scenario and well worth the cost of entry for me but this a 39 year old married man with 2 kids and limited access to the living room telly talking.  My access to gaming time has ballooned since getting a machine I can use anywhere but still plays actual modern console games rather than halfhearted cutdown versions.

2) Its a new Nintendo machine with the latest Nintendo IP - 2018 was undoubtedly a weaker year for this than 2017 but we've still had a fun new Kirby title, Mario Tennis (which I loved), a new Pokemon game and of course Smash (which I wasn't really that bothered about until recently but now finding impossible to resist).

If you want just to play games on the big telly  with a traditional controller then yes the Switch has had a disappointing 2018 - there still has been some decent stuff but for the depth of the library you can play most of the games on other machines in a more technically competent manner.  But you can't play them anywhere you want...

If neither of the two  selling points appeal than the Switch isn't for you.  If its only Nintendo games you want, then well even Nintendo can't keep making every year like 2017 but I get the disappointment.  But if you value portability at all in all its shapes and sizes then the Switch is probably the best console ever...

Don't take my word for it the data is there, sales slowed down in the second quarter but are up overall.

I mean obviously you are right, to continue selling hardware and software they need to keep releasing compelling games and evergreen titles, but that's what they're doing bar a bit of a dip in the second quarter. With Mario Party, Smash and Pokemon they're on an upwards trajectory again, and next year we already know about the next mainline Pokemon and a new Animal Crossing, both of which are big hitters. They've also announced Metroid Prime, Mario Bros U, Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion and Yoshi, so it's not as if they're staring into the void from here on in.

Who here doesn't care about the Switch? Well, having studied the evidence, in conclusion, it seems that in fact quite a few people have no interest in playing on a Switch.

And as for why? Well, having studied the evidence, in conclusion, it seems that in fact they're emotionally stunted mega husks or they already play games on a computer, which is effectively - let's face it - the same thing.

The people who don’t care about the switch aren’t posting in this thread, mate. Because they don’t care.

It’s like when people tell you they don’t care what other people think. They definitely do because they feel the need to tell you that.

...but how do those make logical sense?

Circle = 1 continuous line.

Cross = 2 lines

Triangle = 3 lines

Square = 4 lines

Because Tekken cabinets don't have markings on their buttons (where the games first launch), and since players wanted a way to write down moves, they agreed that left-to-right and top-to-bottom was the simplest. In the Tag games the fifth tag button is 5.

It's an elegant system, where 1+4 (for example) saves time, and it's universal. Having numbers on pads wouldn't look very nice, though. For PlayStations you'd have to use:

Square = S

Triangle = T

Cross = X

Circle = C or O

Else 3+4 is C+C

At this point, I'm only with Xbox for Forza..

I think this might be true of all of my Xbox-owning friends. Used to be Halo and/or CoD, but now it's Forza. I'd almost be okay with an Xbox now that few games are exclusive, but like I said, I'm not ready to leave Naughty Dog behind (I'd jump in an instant if MS bought their games). I have lost interest in the GTs.

Or they don’t want to spend £300 for perfectly valid reasons or they already have one but don’t use it that much.

Emotionally stunted for not wanting to pay £300 on a play thing... a very emotionally stunted statement to make.

Seems like some of you hunched up RSI husks need to take a deep breath and overclock your open loop water coolant systems. :sherlock:

(Sorry gents, the phrase 'emotionally stunted mega husks' just popped into my head so I built a stupid post around it. Absolutely zero offence intended.)
