Star Wars: Andor

Ooh, depending on exactly when this is set then given it's going to include

Spoiler

Saw Guerrera

then we might also get another glimpse of

Spoiler

young Jyn.

This is a really good era to set a story in. The Empire in grip-tightening mode, and systems slipping through its fingers.

I suspect we'll get at least a cameo appearance from:

Spoiler

Palpatine in the senate scenes.

That trailer does look mint.

Very much looks to be in the mould of R1, which was fantastic so I am well up for this now.

It's ridiculous how much more cinematic and expensive this looks from the trailer than Obi-Wan. But surely Obi-Wan was more of a sure ratings thing... I'm struggling to understand the budgetary priorities of Disney here, as surely the difference can't all be just better writing and direction. It properly looks like Rogue One.

Trailer was absolutely fucking banging, by the way. I had only casual interest in this before, but now I'm hyped.

As has been mentioned already, this looks pretty good! Mainly (from my view) because it appears quite distinct from the other SW shows. Filmic, expensive and weighty. It also has far more Stellan (and others) than I thought it would for a show centred around someone else. Hopefully that's not just the trailer's editing..

Looks a league above Obi Wan and Boba Fett.

Holy shit.

That look genuinely amazing!

Rogue One is the best thing about modern Star Wars so hopefully this is more of the same, it looks like it.

It looks like they stole the obiwan budget

It looked like Maz Kanata was in that trailer (or at least an alien of the same species?)

Either way this looks great. Loving all of the Imperial Senate stuff they are showing. Wonder if we see Palps on his throne in the Jedi Temple?

I'm in a minority, thought the trailer looked pretty tedious, or at least there's nothing in there that gets me excited to watch the series, and I really enjoyed Rogue One. First shot, "ooh, are we getting something new?" Nope, there's some Tie Fighters.

Ah well, hope I'm wide of the mark and it turns out to be really good for all those anticipating it.

I like the grey and oppressive styling of the Empire... it looks as though we're going to see the Empire at Full Nazi in this.  That time period where things start to look a bit shit and utilitarian.  I don't think we've *really* seen proper full scale Empire at its worst.

One thing to be said for this. It doesn't appear to be the japery nonsense that Obi Wan kinda was. Now I liked Obi Wan, in hindsight it seems a bit weird. How did he get so much older and wiser in 10 years!

Anyhow this has the sense of struggle, being grounded, of war - as Ghost Dog said.

It could be very interesting if played right. Andor in Rogue One was, for most of the film, a moody old grump face. I'm sure we're going to find out why.

Oh! This ISN'T using 'The Volume' (ILM's video wall thingee with already completed visual FX landscapes that's a massive part of Mando, Boba Fett and Obi-Wan's productions). Tony Gilroy has gone old school by having a crew make big practical sets and go on location, and this show looks much the better for it. I think The Volume's great for a lot of things in Star Wars, but it does seem to have limitations, particularly for directors who aren't well versed in it from the start.
