Quick question about Bix in the final episode.

She is completely fucked, right? I got the feeling that she was saying to Andor that "he will come back for us", talking about Andor as if she is not talking to Andor - like she doesn't even recognise him? Did I get that right? Makes more sense why he would want to die at the end. That their romantic Romeo and Juliet childhood love turned into that tragedy of a rescue in the final episode is some seriously brave writing. This is Star Wars...somebody pinch me!!!

It’s in an entirely different league to Mandalorian. Mando is Xena: Warrior Princess, this is Homeland.

You talk about it being in a different league to Mando.

It's different, like perhaps Italy Vs the Premier League.

For the feels so far, Mando has more.

This is 'better' but sometimes that Aldi ham tastes as good as the Sainos stuff.

 

Where I am sure we will agree is the difference between this and Boba Fett.

 

The final episode in both were broadly similar. Location, peril, people Vs the baddies, street fighting.

But wow, this was superb. It left so much hanging too.

Boba was Rancor riding and some mods were hiding behind a wall. Utter nonsense, as if smashed together by a kid playing with his star wars toys on Christmas morning.

 

Andor has achieved ridiculously highly for me. Spine tingling at the end, underpinned by that wonderful, awful, creeping soundtrack.

Clearly not, as seasons 2, 3 and 4 of Homeland were the best ones. If Andor follows the same trajectory we’re golden!

Rogue One is already a great movie and after Andor it’s even better, but when they finish the full Andor story I expect that TV show with Rogue One as the big movie finale could well become the best and most beautifully handled story in the entire Star Wars universe.

 

Just finished watching Rogue One after Wednesdays episode and forgot just how funny and exciting it all is. K2 is of course the MVP but Chirrut and the other characters are just amazing. Fucking Andor man, who knew!!

I kinda want them to redo Rogue One, maybe recut or just cover it with a different perspective.  I imagine it with a futurama Jurassic Bark ending on B2.

I'm a big apologist for The Last Jedi with all it's flaws. But I think that parts of it showed that you could subvert expectations in Star Wars.

 

It's an unfair comparison to make to an extend (Rian had to work within tighter time constraints and without the clean slate Andor had) but Andor pretty much followed up on the potential of breaking out  of the mould while staying true to the source material. It makes Last Jedi's attempt look clumsy but it makes most TV and film writing look clumsy by comparison.

reveals that all the Ferrix scenes were the first to be filmed with Rix Road being the first thing filmed. This is an amazing achievement by the writers, directors and actors to have filmed the tense end piece first and pull it off so perfectly.

I've rarely heard Rogue One anything but praised. Despite the fact that some of the characters are a bit underwritten, and it's a bit dull, and it shows it's the victim of reshoots. Oh and Forest Whittaker overacts to a point of utter ripeness. And Bor Gullet is sold as driving a person mad and....then it doesn't.

Hardly some reason.  He was the commander of the Death Star in Star Wars, which is set immediately after the events of Rogue One, so it would have been weird if they had just ignored such a pivotal character.

Rogue One is getting a re-watch this weekend.

 

And as a Last Jedi apologist I found it interesting to see where Andor succeeded in places where The Last Jedi failed.

 

The Last Jedi was trying to do something different and yet still be Star Wars.

 

With Andor there was no try, they just knocked it out of the park. The only sin is how few people seem to have watched this.

Along with Obi Wan I think they've retconned Darth Vader pretty well now. He's like a crocodile, deadly within a few metres but runs out of energy really quickly. In that suit he's just an injured man in incredible pain. It reminds me a lot of trying to run suffering chronic asthma, sure you might be golden for 100 metres but if you try to hold that pace any longer you're just fucked.

Rogue One is by far the best film of the Disney era. It's not even close. Andor is the best of Disney Star Wars TV. They go together like, er... poetry, good poetry, not George's scatty kind. 

 

I loved every bit of Andor, going to do a big binge rewatch of the lot followed by RO. Gonna be sweet.
