Ok so I know there is an Amazon thread but this series is the best thing on Prime and deserves more recognition, it's a really great dark comedy, it's hard to describe but if you like Wes Anderson I think you'll appreciate this tv series.

Series 2 is being released next Friday so it's the perfect time to catch up with series 1, it's available on Prime in UHD. So any fans here?

It's a crying shame that this isn't getting much attention on here (or anywhere else by the looks of things), it's one of the most original things I've seen in ages and has brought me some genuine belly laughs among all the melancholy.

Can't wait to get stuck into season 2 this weekend.

I do worry for it, given the huge gap between the pilot and the full first season and then the massive gap between season one and two. It seems hardly anybody reviewed season two, but those that did nearly universally loved it. There's been no announcement about season three. The end of season two could potentially be a series finale but I hope not.

I still haven't started S2 yet, decided to save it to watch over Christmas, I'm glad you all like it though, as the only review I saw was in the Guardian and the reviewer didn't seem to enjoy it much.

I have more faith in my fellow travellers opinions though, so I'm not put off at all.

Yeah, the Guardian review of season two I saw was only three stars though the reviewer didn't not like it, just not as much as the first season. The second season certainly has something of a different tone to the first but I do think it's nearly as good as the first.

How can you recommend a show with Kurtwood Smith in it without mentioning that Kurtwood Smith is in it?

And he's brilliant in it! Easily his second best role.

Anyway this is such a good show. I'm not entirely sure what's happening or where people are a lot of the time, and I've still no idea what the point of the brother character is but it's really funny when it wants to be. Lots of nice symmetry to the framing, too.

Had this on the list for a while and was worried it wouldn't live up to the hype of a few posters in various threads here. It is properly darkly funny. Such a shame Amazon seem to barely do anything to promote a lot of their own shows, even within their own app. It won't even include this in my Continue Watching at all, and I have to search for it every time (despite no other show having that issue).

Hmm that's weird I finished a rewatch recently and it shows in my continue watching. S1 really is the most perfect series of television, the vibe, the music, the heart, the bleak comedy, it's my favourite series of TV up there with the Wire S1. Shame that a lot of what I loved about S1 was dropped for S2, it's got a completely different vibe and lacks the emotional depth present in S1.

Oh no, don't say that. I only have one episode left of S1.

Well I'll be interested to see what you think. For me the vibe completely changes and everything that made the show so touching, intelligent and unique appears lost. Not everyone feels like that so perhaps it's just me.

I worked it out. It is because I used the 'Hide this Season' at some point, as it was quicker that fast forwarding to the last episode of a season (I decided to put it on hold ages ago). It still appears in search, but there's no unhide button there - you have to go into your Settings.

Does you s1e09 have English subtitles? All of them to this point did, and now this one does not but 32 other languages.

No it doesn't it has 32 other languages. Do you need subs then? I found any non english parts had hard subs anyway.
