This looks awesome but I just have to say that using carbonite was an on the fly jury rigged way using a non tested method to transport Han in Empire. Fett isn't even sure whether his bounty will make the trip so being a massive Star Wars nerd I just can't see the council of bounty hunters having passed a mandate for this to now become the de rigueur way to ferry a bounty hunter's quarry. I mean did Fett even write down the recipe to pass on to the council?

I'm livid tbh.

I'm not livid. I'm joking.

Funny you should say that :)

I did notice it in the first trailer but never really gave it much thought. That post was a shit attempt at humour after reading Pob's post.

But thinking about it a bit more after posting I think I am livid.

No, still not remotely livid just more shit attempts at humour. I'll stop now.

Ha, no worries @Pob; I’d answered my own question by being an even bigger nerd and zooming in on the timeline graphic they showed at Star Wars Celebration and pinpointing when The Mandolorian is set :)

I’m not fussed about them using it at all based on the timeline, but man, if this had been set before Empire, I’d have probably tutted and rolled my eyes a bit.

I'm still convinced that the main character is going to turn out to be Bobba Fett (which would explain the carbonite). His face will be been a little disfigured from stomach acid but maybe he had it reconstructed and that's why he looks a little different.

Maybe the acid burns have given him his proper voice back so you don't think of Once Were Warriors every time he says anything.

Reckon Disney will hold any Boba appearance back until they need a shot in the arm for viewing numbers. Although wouldn’t be surprised if he’s mentioned in s1 in order to set up that eventual appearance.

Carbonite almost makes sense. Boba Fett capturing Han Solo would be a famous bounty. The bit where I think it falls over is - carbomite freezing facilities aren't just going to be about everywhere, unless there are now shop dealers offering them as standard.

Carbonite was supposedly used for thousands of years to hibernate people in the SW galaxy for long travel distances before the hyperdrive was invented. It’s also used in the Clone Wars cartoon (Wookiepedia):

During the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, and the clone troopers under their command froze themselves in carbonite to smuggle themselves into the Citadel on Lola Sayu.

So can we move on from Vader/Fett inventing this use case now?

Not really because they seemed pretty unsure it would work in the movie that all that stuff you just mentioned is based on?

I find that trailer has made me less excited for this - the clip above with Herzog jawing suggested it was a slow and thoughtful show, whereas that trailer lays on a thick dollop of standard modern ‘Shiney Star Wars shooty man - in a mask!’ fare.

I’ll definitely watch the first ep, but I hope the above is selling it wrong.

Just think of it this way - the facility in Bespin was for industrial purposes, securing/preserving non-living goods and materials, and never designed with the necessary safety standards for use on living beings.

There, done, we can move on.

I've not seen mention of WebOS and whatever else TVs run on, apart from Roku and AndroidTV which are getting it. It is also coming to basic Android, Chromecast, iOS, AppleTV (including the app, so if your TV has got that recently sounds like you're set), PS4 and XB1. They said it won't be on Amazon devices at launch.
