I think what I find so strange about the pirates, is that they are presented like stereotypical "Yar, ahoy mateys" pirates from our galaxy/planet, so they don't feel that they actually gel especially, even in the context of Star Wars.

There are of course already pirates in Star Wars, but the fact that these ones resemble something so close to silly existing depictions of them with all the trimmings is really odd.

It's not quite the same as the Mods in Pamphlet of Bobbins, Pet - but still.

They felt like they were ripped straight from Pirates of the Carribbean with the captain being a straight up mix of Davey Jones and the Swamp Thing

Still mostly enjoying it though, and glad Skywalker's not made a return yet.

And Katee Sackhoff looks great in her Mandanlorian costume

I may not agree with all of your posts in this thread, but this renaming of Book of Boba made me chuckle so have a +1 😎

They also only have about 2 seconds of fuel nowadays...

I’m done with this show

why the fuck would a space pirate have a seaweed beard

the pacing is all over the shop, big bad guy being rescued from the transport ship

vs

bird nest kiddy mandalorian armour shite (he’ll grow out of that soon I know that), with baby yoda jumping about the fucking place

vs

amazing cgi space battles

vs

every other shot is people with helmets on and devoid of any emotional feeling

Star Wars is so dead.

Reminded me more of a Marvel film that The Mandalorian this week - but an entertaining romp nonetheless.

Yeah something about this season, isn't quite off, but I do feel like it's inconsistent in terms of narrative, pacing, cinematography, tone etc.

I imagine it's partially to do with the script, or directors, but it feels less cohesive than previous seasons - even though others had similar constraints. Unless it turns out to be like Better Call Saul, lots of breadcrumbs that lead to a greater loaf.

I still enjoyed this week's episode but it's totally different from the

Spoiler

Andor-like one

a few weeks back, and again, different to the

Spoiler

Trench run-like one

last week.

Still not quite sure where they are heading with Grogu, he's almost comic relief at this point.

Episode 6, Season 3.

Spoiler

More padding than than Bodyform factory.

It was alight but they have so much to work with in terms of taking back Mandalor and Moff Gideon that they don't need the fluff at this point.

Compare this to Episode 2, Season 3 and you have a stark contrast.  Where as Episode 2 had all the intrigue, interplay and lore expansion going in a specific, rich direction, Episode 6, Season 3 was just filler until the last 10 minutes or so.

Woves was a quickly painted but great gruff antagonist.  At this point, I could watch Sackhoff read the phone book (she's totally sold me).

Bored on that one. :(

I wasn't so much bored as amazed how much budget is lavished on scenes that don't really drive the story forward, not that there's seemingly much of one this season. Is the end game purely to take back Mandalore?

Also, what is Grogu for?

What the fuck was that?

Spoiler

A glorified "side-quest" bereft of drama, random actor cameos, and actually momentous story changes just tacked on the end with a truly uninteresting little fight and it's all wrapped up with Mando mandosplaining an answer to their problem with a "Well, technically..."

Total bollocks.

I kind of hope this is all just a setup for

Spoiler

A Bo Katan spin off like I've been suspecting they'll do for a while now.

Because I like Katee Sackhoff and I think her and her character deserve better than whatever absolute nonsense this was.

As a big fan of the Rebels series, I also have to say that

Spoiler

That resolution of the Darksaber issue felt cheap, rushed, tacked on, lazy, emotionally flat, shitty, and lame.

There was prime opportunity for the show to make some genuinely gut wrenching character drama out of the fact you might have had to watch two characters that you both like eventually be forced into conflict over something, or at the very least actually do something big to earn the story beat happening.

But it was utterly, utterly wasted. Years worth of story build up in other, better shows, including its own earlier seasons, wasted on a technicality.

It does feel a little like it's in a slump but let's not be silly and say any episode this season is worse than Bobs Bunglers.

Re the resolution of this week's episode

Spoiler

Dinn was never likely to put up a fight over the Dark Saber, he's shown no interest in leading the Mandalorians, him giving it over and finding a technicality makes the most sense for the character
