Had everybody else has got the bottom fifth of the screen pixel stretch thing going on?

I've seen comments about this happening because certain players may not fully support the format it's in. Can you try a different player?

I’m using VLC on a Mac, which is usually pretty solid. I’ll throw it in Plex, see how that handles it.

Try this -

With MKVToolNix, open the file in the Header editor, then expand Video Track 1.
Find the values for "Video crop top" and "Video crop bottom".
Remove them and save (doesn't even require a remux!).

Excellent. Worked a treat!

I enjoyed this, too early to say after only episode but I could see me liking this series a lot more than the recent films. I liked that he wasn't just an indestructible modern super cool action man, they made him quite fallible and kept the action scenes nicely grounded (for the most part) which gave them a bit more oomph because he wasn’t just a weightless CGI dude ping ponging about with no physics or sense of threat.

I really dug the herky jerky animation on not-IG-88.

Agree the music was pants though.

I thought this was great. The second half had some really fun, Star Wars-y action. I can also see why they didn’t send out advance copies ^_^

I thought the sound design was disappointing - it was pretty sparse throughout, and the music was forgettable. Seeing aliens with strong American accents was a bit odd too, for some reason. But overall, it was well made and I was totally won over by the end, so I’ll definitely be tuning in for the rest.

Loved it. I agree with Harsin in that I preferred it to the recent films. It felt totally Star Wars, but it’s own thing at the same time. Even the callbacks felt relevant - yes, I’m looking at you Solo. Can’t wait for the next episode now.

Really? I thought there was a bit too much of that. e.g. Jabba's doorbell. Crispy grilled Salacious Crumb...

Yeah, because they were just added bits of flavour, rather than clumsily handled links back to the original trilogy. Quite literally in Crumb’s case.

The previous discussion about freezing bounties had me prepped for that or that bit probably would have grated, but I think I’ve given up on them not using a recognisable droid when they have an opportunity to. According to New Star Wars Logic, nothing in the original trilogy was that way because that’s what happened to be around on Tatooine or whatever. It was that way because that is the design of every speeder/droid/doorbell in the galaxy.

I’m just happy that none of the characters were directly linked to the films.
