Is that real? Is the idea of releasing a TV programme on a weekly schedule so alien to the target audience for Disney+ that they feel a diagram is necessary?

It’s not weekly though, is it? It’s some arbitrary system of generally weekly, two weeks where you get two a week and then wait 10 days for the finale.

by the was as I mentioned in the main Disney plus thread - all the star wars movies are streaming in 4k

Do you know if they're genuine 4K scans of the films or are they just upscales of the previous 1080p versions? Just because something says it's 4K doesn't mean it's genuinely 4K.

It's very odd, are they trying to schedule around Thanksgiving or something. I know American TV shows often seem just to stop around that time, no idea why as they must be made already.

not sure - haven't tried streaming them myself yet - but peeps seem to say they are new masters so possibly proper 4k scans - would make sense as rumour is that 4k blu rays are coming early next year

It's not an official graphic. I'd have thought the Hyper Heroes in the corner would tip people off, even if you don't know what Hyper Heroes is (which I didn't; a podcast apparently). Why would Disney be putting that on an official graphic?

George Lucas had the originals rescanned and regraded in 4K in the 00's. So I imagine Disney will have had those digital masters handed over with the everything else.

Is it OK to ask for VPN recommendations? I have  US CC so will be able to register and subscribe pretty easily.

nordvpn  worked for me (was using it to access the Netherlands)  but heard it should be working on US as well now - check reddit there are a couple of forums on disneyplus vpn access

Dunno. I assumed it was some kind of Disney sub-brand that they were putting some of their TV under, but in retrospect they wouldn't need any other brand than Star Wars for this.

Ah but which "originals"? The original originals, or the new originals?

Spoiler

Nobody wants to see Greedo shooting first in 4K.

I’ve watched it again

Great atmosphere. Closer in tone, colour and texture to Rogue One than anything else I reckon.

Even a whiff of ROTJ on occasion - hmm maybe that’s wishful thinking after seeing some of those respectful and occasionally underplayed nods (subtitle font/colour appreciated).

I wonder how Attack of the Clones looks in 4K. Wasn’t it filmed digitally in 1080p?

I'm not to up on the tech but I've seen videos of an AI (or something?) that up-scales old cgi cutscenes from PS1 games etc and it looked pretty damn good. Like I say I'm unsure of the actual tech they're using but it seemed to do a good job of up-scaling those old ropy 240p cutscenes, this was software the public has access to so can imagine Disney have orders of magnitude better software.

Haven't paid any attention to this at all beyond the fact of knowing Bill Burr is gonna be in it, come to find out Werner Herzog is also in it, and Taika Waititi, and Gina Carano and Pedro Pascal (I hope he's a bisexual dick slinging badass basically space Oberyn).

That's a whole big lot of good shit right there.
