There seems to be some rubbish football game being released tomorrow, but who cares because the first details of this years Football Manager are going to be announced today! They should have been released a few minutes ago but they are running late. They did announce a while ago that they have a fancy new logo and that they will no longer be having their "mascot" on the cover, but who cares about that when there are lots of great new innovative features to announce! Apparently the guy on the cover is called Manager Man. Who knew eh!?

 

Here he is in Sega All Stars Racing.

Official release date is November the 2nd, but if you preorder from approved retailers you will get access to the "beta" roughly two weeks earlier, which would mean you can be playing in about 3 weeks time!

Based on previous years, it's quite likely that the beta will hopefully launch today, which probably means it won't, but fingers crossed! 

 

Some Youtube and Twitch "Creators" got to go to the SI offices and play around with the game for a few days and record there time. Nothing overly in depth, but there seem to be tons of quality of life changes. One of them has been doing a look at all of the various tactical styles that have been added. Some look quite interesting! Here is his quick look at Gegenpressing which I'm pretty sure will be one of the most popular styles this year.

My bet on the beta is it’ll be out tomorrow.

I can’t wait, I play so much FM, but haven’t been on it for a few months, the last month I’ve had the itch to play but haven’t done as I knew the new one was out. 

I’m off work next week too, which is perfect timing! 

 

 

Actually while I’m here, has anyone still got a boxed copy of CM01/02 (the one with the red cover) and a scanner?  If so I’d love a high res scan of the cover to make a poster of for above my desk.  I can’t find my copy anywhere :(

and ...a skin that isnt as bright a the fucking sun!!! it dosent matter which you pick ,the fucking right hand side of the screen is white as all fuck, and when you click continue, WHITE!

 

ffs i set it to dark for a reason!

i tried copying over my graphics folder...didnt seem to work...guess ill try that again.

 

im now more incensed about the ridiculous backwards step when you get a few loan bids come in!?!

fm18 (also shows a proper dark skin)- shows wages, amount of playing time.

fm 19 (also shows just how much bloody white!!)  doesn't show anything useful, meaning you have to click into every single fucking offer! which im sure was in 17, and fucked me right off then as its such a waste of time!

Aye, the loan offer screen is a bit lacking. New mentoring and training seems pretty nice though. Currently leaving my assistant to sort training and then I add/change a few sessions when needed. No idea if I'm having much of an effect on things though!

 

I like having my scout reports get emailed to me when complete rather than having to use the stupid scout centre.

Just listed some PUBG items on the Steam market to hopefully tip me over from £32.54 to £34.19 and I can effectively get it for free. What a strange price.

 

(I know it’s cheaper elsewhere but I’d rather use the steam wallet funds I’ve made from selling cards.)

 

How is it then? Liverpool players look ridiculously OP. I suppose the only way to make them play as good as they do is to make the players dead good? There’s no way Trent is a top 10 right back in the world, but he just happens to play for an amazing Liverpool team, so can’t see how else they’d make it realistic without giving him all 17s or whatever it is he has.

 

FM is class though. Owned every version since 97/98 (and paid for them all, which is a rarity I hate to admit) and will definitely be getting this version.

It's far from perfect, but there are some definite improvements with the match engine and other in game systems. Overhauls to training and mentoring have taken away the old gaming the system way of doing things and the new tactics stuff makes creating or adapting a type of football much easier and more accessible.

 

Probably my best first impression of a new FM game in a long time!

I've noticed a few bugs along the way - buttons labeled wrong, one of my players getting a straight red but it being two yellows in the match report etc. But early impressions are good.

 

I didn't play 2018, so still getting used to both the new stuff in this edition, and the one before it!

Realism is looking good so far this year! 9 games into the league with Man Utd. Currently sitting fourth with City on top, Liverpool second and Chelsea third. Lukaku and Rashford both playing terribly. 

 

Also when watching a streamer I copied his squad view and it's amazing! I've always only used the standard views and switched between them when needed, but now I have everything I need on the one page. There is even a stat which displays Games Missed in a Row which makes rotating a big squad a lot easier to manage. My eyes have been truly opened!
