You can't do this quest on PC, and I don't have an Xbox. That's a big part of the shittiness of this particular quest.

And as @DennyDifferent pointed out, and I mentioned in my post, the fact that there's going to be loads of people instantly quitting matches is the other part of the problem. It's going to be really annoying for the Madden players. Say, at a really conservative estimate, 100,000 people do this quest. That's 400,000 matches where one player immediately quits. Imagine being a Madden player this week.

I think 100,000 people doing the quest is extremely unlikely. How many Game Pass subscribers farm reward points, and do every quest regardless of game for the relative pittance?

it'd cost you more than 23p to download it and play it given energy costs ;)

There are enough simple weekly quests to trigger the 500point bonus without having to download 60 gig games and do this sort of stuff. Even with the drop from 1000 to 500pts for the big monthly bonus I have recouped it by finding two of the 250 pt game challenges fun to do.

You can usually afford to miss a couple of weekly quests for the 500 one. Although I assume this month will be a bit tight.

There was a return to the get an achievement weekly quest though. Have we had one of them for a while? That should make it easier.

It's hard to care when you have so many points from AoE's lobby every day.

that is true I am lucky enough to have the play a game on PC and PC with friends which hooks me 300 a day anyway. With that and the low/no effort stuff I clear 20000 a month so I don't have to do the higher effort ones (which I admit aren't exactly alot of effort but more than I'm willing to do witha  game I have no interest in)

Always check if they have a Play option, saves downloading the lot even if it takes a bit to boot.

What does this involve?

If you have the "Play with friends on a PC" reward in your profile on the xbox mobile or PC app, you can get it just from logging into a lobby on Age of Empires on PC for a bit.

First you have to do some bonus point things. Link a social account, subscribe to game pass, and keep 7+ friends. They're on the rewards page too. You've probably already done them. That bumps up the 100 points for it to 250.

You should have the game via Game Pass. Main Menu -> Multiplayer -> Lobby Browser. Find a lobby saying something like "MSPoints 250" and sit in it for 5-10 mins (or create your own). Everyone else there is doing the same.

You also get points for playing a PC game to, so you'll actually get 275. Another 25 if you remember to also open the mobile app once a day.

I do but if the game doesn't interest me I don't do it anyway - like the Stardew Valley one and the Black Desert ones last month. Those games don't interest me and/or the challenges are very dull.

I tend to find a couple each month where I want to give the game a try anyway, like Dishonoured 2 last month and broken age.

I wouldn't bemoan the loss of the 500pt month bonus anyway if there werent 2 games I wanted to try.

Ooh, that's interesting. I've been having a quick blast of rocket arena on Quake every day to fulfill mine.

I did the Injustice 2 one a few days ago, I hate fighting games and was a good 20 minutes of effort for 250 points. Wasn't impressed 🤣 Didn't bother with Stardew as it was way too much effort.

what a horrible experience Madden is. Ultimate team being shoved in your face all the while awful music is playing.

WWE2K22 is the same. Shame because underneath there is a really fun game. (I can't say the same for Madden, having never played it, but it's certainly not the case for FIFA, which shoves Ulitmate Team in your face and is rubbish.)

This is very helpful, thank you!

I've been playing a round of Halo every day. A thoroughly joyless experience.

Not sure where you've all got this idea that there's no Madden NFL 22 on PC from:

Yeah, Madden is on the PC, but you can't do this particular quest on the PC. Most of them specify that you do the quest either on the Xbox or through cloud streaming. There is no option for cloud streaming on this one. The game isn't available through the streaming service.

I don't know if there have been examples of games that you could complete the quests via an installed copy of the game on PC, but none of the games I've tried have worked. It has to be streaming. I tried to do the Injustice one last week by installing the game, because streaming was a mess. It didn't give me credit for any of the victories I cheesed, so I had to do it through streaming later in the week.

It normally says play on PC, cloud or Xbox if you can do it on PC. The Madden one explicitly says Xbox One version hence no PC or streaming (which would be the Series X/S version).

I’ve done a few of the PC ones where I already had the game installed and it’s worked but mostly I only do them if you can stream as can’t be bothered the effort of a download. I also can’t be bothered at all with the ones that require you to play properly unless I was going to play the game anyway and would get it naturally.

You only need 3 weekly’s per week in any month to get the 500 point bonus and you can do that with the non game specific ones now they seem to have added a weekly quest for getting an achievement.

On this, do you have to actually matchmake with someone? I imagine it will be just as annoying to have all of these AoE players quitting early as it is Madden players.

There are generally loads of lobbies just called 'Points Only' or 'Rewards' etc. If not, then it takes seconds to set one up yourself. That way no-one is under the impression that it's a lobby to actually play it.

This is basically the only one I really make the effort to do every day. A lot of others fall by the wayside when I'm busy, but this one is 2000poijts a week for essentially zero effort.

Just did the four games of Madden. On the first three games my opponent kicked the ball out of play immediately and then quit. Then I did the same on the fourth :D People who actually want to play Madden must be fuming.

Can confirm, it's really annoying. I managed to get one game last night out of seven attempts - all the others ended with "your opponent has conceded the game" or "your opponent has requested a Friendly Quit" or whatever.

I lost 25-14 but it was a fun game.

I should play online more, to be honest. It takes me right back to when I was a student and I had Sega Sports NFL 2K1 on the Dreamcast. The only people playing online were in the US and obviously actually knew anything about football, so I would routinely get thrashed but it was great. Felt very futuristic.
