Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Just preordered the AC Switch from Nintendo’s store - partly as a birthday present for the missus and mostly for me, as she’s not much of a gamer - but we’ll see if this converts her.

It also just looks so bloody happy, and committing to one has cheered me up in the face of the even worse shithole the U.K. became 2 hours ago.

Wouldn’t worry it’ll be sold out shortly and therefore worth quite a bit if you decide to part with it.

That's the spirit. My wife travels a lot so it will be nice for her to have the spare one (probably). Also I have an Animal Crossing 3DS so this completes the set or something.

Can't wait for this to release. I got stuck in a horrible OCD corner, where I got to the point of having my 3DS switched on permanently by my bedside just so that I could make sure none of my villagers left! I don't do anything else in the game (my village is full of holes now because I never dig anything up) expect check every day to see if somebody is leaving.

As soon as this is out I'm deleting that game and its save off my 3DS and retiring it to a drawer. Then I'll act more rationally with this game!

Not a huge concern other than: Does this mean I can still transfer my animal crossing save from my OG Switch to my Lite (and back again. I know the save data is deleted on the host console once transferred.)

Yes. It’s the same situation as the 3DS version.

Still not available to preorder with a voucher.

Yes, because it's still not available to pre-order at all. On the eshop, pre-ordering a game is the same as pre-loading it. A game doesn't go up for pre-order until it's gone gold and the game is available for download (to unlock at a later date). Presumably Animal Crossing is still in the final stages of development. Until there's a final build to upload to the servers, we won't be able to pre-order it, with a voucher or otherwise. Patience!

The only exception to this I can think of is DLC. I believe you can pre-order Pokémon DLC already despite it not coming out until Summer. Same goes for expansion passes, I think.

I know this but other games went up for pre-order waaaaay earlier than this. You could use a voucher on Luigi about three months before it came out!

It downloaded the game though, right? And then you had to wait months just for it to unlock. Some Nintendo games are in the can way before they're actually released. I'm guessing Animal Crossing is going down to the wire.

Someone on Resetera has put together a webpage that automatically plays Animal Crossing in-game music equivalent to your local time. It's a lovely idea. It's also not helping the wait for New Horizons any easier!

There's an official app from Nintendo you can download for your computer to do the same!

Pre ordering on the digital shop doesn’t get you any pre order bonuses, does it?

Extra gold coins usually. But the point is I have a voucher for a game already.
