when did he leave yours, i've had him here for a month or so.

Visited another island today that had Violet, that was like some sort of time travelling alternate reality where i knew her but she didn't know me!Insert other media

I cant remember exactly when he left, I've had a few animals come and go recently.

We've been trying to get rid of one particular villager for a while. We have ignored him, been rude to him, refused when he wants to call us by a nickname and generally been a dick to him. He won't leave. He won't take the hint.

Other villagers, who we like, want to leave on odd occasions but never this one. We have had campsite visitors several times who can't stay because we are full. So what are we doing wrong and how do we get rid of this unwanted villager?

The only ways to evict a specific animal are through the campsite. If you have an amiibo you can move that person in and decide who leaves. If you get a regular visitor you can just quit over and over until they choose the person you want. How you treat them, what you give them, their friendship level, how well they get on with other villagers and the time since you last played have no effect.

The easiest way to evict someone is wait for a camper to appear, convince them to live there, then hope they suggest the villager in question. If not, quickly reset the game and try again until hopefully they pick your unwanted villager. It takes a hell of a lot of patience, but so does waiting weeks/months for the head cloud.

But of course you might not want the camper, so otherwise it's just a waiting game. I don't even think ignoring them helps. I've had villagers that I've showered in attention and gifts that bring up leaving.

It’s fully random with the bubble.

Yeah, that's what I suspected.

I'm getting a bit frustrated with Pascal, seeing as he doesn't tend to show up with the first scallop. Plus today, after swimming around for over an hour, he's given me a pearl instead of a recipe. I can find those myself, mate.

Anyone managed to grab a giraffe stag? I went on a mass coconut planting session last night in the hope of increasing my chances. The beaches are absolutely covered. I think I've seen, and failed to catch two. They're incredibly skittish.

Is there any trick to spawning a fly?

I've left a can, a tyre and a boot next to each other in the open air, and a crafted trash bag next to them for good measure.  They've been there for at least two weeks now, but I've never seen a fly near them.  I thought maybe it was because it was always raining, but it's a sunny day today on my island and still nothing.

I had a whole heap of junk on my beach for ages and only saw a fly spawn a couple of times, both times it flew off as I failed to get a good shot with my net due to all the other bits lying around .  I later tried a can, on its own, in a well trafficked grassy area and it generated flies much more often.  I just always checked it when I was near by so that there were lots of spawn opportunities.  After I'd caught 1 for Blathers and 3 to store for Flick I binned it.

So far Pascal has appeared first time for me every single time, sounds like I must be lucky!

I've caught one but there are a few other July bugs that I'm still missing and more where I don't yet have enough for a Flick model.  You really do need to creep up slowly on them.

You can have too many palms if they get in the way of you seeing or netting bugs on neighbouring trees!

The first day he appeared on the fifth scallop...nightmare.

Heads up everyone: Two seasonal items from the Nook shopping terminal disappear tomorrow. The Summer-solstice crown, and Winter-solstice sweater.

Incidentally, what's up with the new item, bamboo grass? Mine says Tanabata in the corner with a Japanese flag. Are there variations?

Edit: Oh, Tanabata is a Japanese festival apparently happening tomorrow? Maybe there'll be other festivals which will have unique bamboo grass...*shrugs*

Got  all the new ones now. I stayed up late last night just for the scarab, which took a few attempts as it appeared on a tree with a hedge around it first and I missed.

i did look up what the giraffe looked like though, so I knew I wasn’t scaring off stuff I needed.

Bit late seeing this...I have 23. I'd be interested to know what I've got that you haven't. I think my rarest catches are...

...the vampire squid and horseshoe crab.

Spent a while diving this evening and am now on 24 creatures.  I caught a

horseshoe crab and Blathers has a great reaction to it! :)

The other new one I got was the

tiger prawn

I ended up with 5 of those in about half an hour so seemed weird that I'd not come across it before

I hadn't played this for a few months, only to emerge from my house, bleary eyed and bed headed. After 5 minutes all my anxiety of the world outside just evaporated again. This game is some kind of witchcraft.

Visitor spawn rates have changed in 1.3, according to the data miners. Headline items:

- No more guaranteed slots for Leif, Kicks and Sahara.

- Celeste now guaranteed once a week.

- K.K. will now appear on Sunday if there’s an event (e.g. Bug Off) on Saturday, rather than replacing your Friday visitor. Presumably this doesn’t prevent Daisy Mae appearing.

It still uses the system where it gives priority to visitors you didn’t have last week, so we should start to see a more even spread, and crucially more Redd! That said, there are 8 slots over a two week period and 9 potential visitors now Gullivarrr has been added, so you could still get screwed.

Although if this is correct (and this miner is reliable), then the RNG is trolling me hard, as I’ve had Kicks and Lief so far this week. I obviously had them both last week, so presumably this new system started from scratch on Monday.

I think a couple of people were looking for the Bonsai Shelf recipe a while ago.  Game has gone crazy and given me 3 of them in a couple of days so have 2 spare to give away if anyone still wants it.  I can't actually craft it yet as don't have the Pine Bonsai thats needed as one of the ingredients .  Have a spare golden dung beetle recipe too if anyone wants that.

Been making good progress on getting my villagers pictures too, have 5 of them now so can start moving some of them on.  Leonardo will be leaving soon and Camofrog is moving in

This guy is where 99% of AC data mining comes from:

If a newsy site is preferred:

I’m slightly wrong above, Celeste is only guaranteed in a week where you have at least one meteor shower.

Yeah, big rush.  Got a recipe card I needed which was nice.  Fakes were all ones I already had but 99% sure I needed the cute lamp that Redd has

Gates are open for a bit. Got Saharah visiting. Axel (hard right as you come out the airport) is crafting firewood. Help yourselves to spare recipes by the plaza and anything left in Nook’s. Got an antique table in there I already have. Finally got my flower section sorted so please water away in the area outside the airport, you can’t miss it. Cheers!

I can't think of a less appropriate game to data mine.

I can see where you're coming from and it is nice to avoid direct spoilers but a few things swing me to loving the fact it's available:

  • My general personality means I like to understand how and why things work. I don't feel anything is lessened by understanding the mechanics behind when Redd appears (or didn't for a very very long time on my island). Or finding out how to breed flowers like the blue rose where I'd likely never have got there (and in fact understanding the generics has massively enhanced my enjoyment and appreciation of the game).

  • Whilst people might argue you can do no wrong in this game it does offer the opportunity to miss things that you'll have to wait months or a full year to see again (specifically bugs/fish). I'm not sure if I'll make it through a whole year but if I do then I want to have caught everything. So, each month I set out and catch bugs and fish without reading for a few days. Once I've exhausted new stuff appearing I seek out information on what I'm missing and when I can get it.

In the end I've not found much spoil at all by reading everything I could beyond the first few days.

It's an amazing game in that it supports sto many different play styles (maybe one for the play it your way thread ^_^). From people who want to use guides to find critters quickly. Those who use VillagerDB to find what items they're missing. Those who get online and buy/sell cataloguing or access to rarer items. Those to time travel to see more and get items faster.

But with having that people inherently judge the way others approach it. I (sadly) do it myself on here and with my friends. When someone offers lots of things that aren't likely attainable with normal play I think they should be clear about their providence (either bought online or time travelled). I thought slightly less of my friend for time travelling back to see Redd again... but at the same time I was jealous.

I think it's fine to judge other playstyles positively and negatively, from min-maxing to time travelling. It's not automatically personal to whoever's playing 'x' way. We'll all just have different ideas on how best to preserve the magic (anyone who's flirted with cheat codes or cheesing a money-making feature can attest to sometimes accidentally breaking the value in a game).

Agree with the posts above about different playstyles, etc.

My only complaint is with people complaining about the game, if that makes sense.

The game is clearly designed for you to take it easy and not worry - not try to min-max, don't worry about missing out, etc.  The designers have tried to hammer that home in about a thousand ways in the way the game is designed.  But then some of us like to try and bend and break this by trying to min-max a little bit, looking at the data miners stuff, rushing to breed all the flowers, forcing rocks to spawn in certain places, going online to swap items and use tools to maximise turnip prices.  All fine, but there's inevitably some friction with this as you're kinda going against the grain of the design.  But then you get people complaining that the game doesn't support min-maxing as much as they'd like - that video a while back where someone had loads of suggestions for UI changes that would make it easier to craft batches of items quicker and access their storage without going to their house.  That bugs me a bit because they're asking for the game to be redesigned as a min-max game, and that's completely against the whole design philosophy that it was built around.

Anyway, I'm wondering if I've got some RNG type bug as I've had that horrible green surfboard for sale in my shop every day for about a fortnight now.  I'm only short of the white surfboard, and it's never going to appear, is it?
